Miss Howard Stern Signs On to Host Porn Video for Metro

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Andrea Brooke Ownbey, better known as Miss Howard Stern, has agreed to host a porn video for Metro Interactive.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have signed such a popular personality as Andrea,” Janie Liszewski, Metro's publicist, told AVN.com. “She’s funny, she’s gorgeous, she’s got it all – and we’ve got her.”

The untitled project will be released under the Cal Vista banner, but will be shot by directors from Astrux Entertainment, a company distributed exclusively by Metro Interactive.

The blonde stripper and frequent Howard Stern show guest will serve as the host of the project that will be released by late spring or early summer in 2005. She will have a non-sex role and will likely introduce each hardcore sex scene, the traditional approach to celebrity-hosted videos.

In support of the project, Ownbey will be signing at Metro Interactive’s booth next week during the 2005 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.

Ownbey, 21, won the Miss Howard Stern title in 2002, and has appeared on the shock jock’s radio show numerous times since as a guest, becoming well-known for her high-pitched voice and her polite catchphrase, “thank you.”

The deal was signed on this week. Ownbey was not available for comment.

And the Winner Isn't ...

The March issue of AVN will feature a complete wrap-up of the 22nd Annual AVN Awards Show in Las Vegas in January. Space restraints, alas, preclude every article written about the show from being published in the magazine. That's not a problem in cyberspace, however, and what follows is a story you won't find in the upcoming March issue. - Ed.

LAS VEGAS - As AVN Awards shows go, this year's was memorable for a variety of reasons. And if you sense we don't mean that in an entirely positive light, you're right.

AVN President Paul Fishbein must have had to ice down his left hand by evening's end from slamming it on the head table, a repeated sure sign that something was definitely not going as planned.

Cutting straight to the fuck-up chase, the worst of the worst was a slip of the tongue that Fishbein at first called the biggest blunder in the 22 year-history of the show, but after receiving an apology from Sean Michaels about two weeks later, downgraded it significantly to a "great moment."

Michaels, a presenter, opened the envelope in the Best Actress - Film category and announced that the winner was Savanna Samson for Vivid's Bare Stage. Only problem was that Samson wasn't the winner; Jenna Jameson was for her title role in Vivid's The Masseuse.

Samson, who co-hosted the show with comedian Thea Vidale, started to come out on stage to accept the award, garbed only in a pre-planned, strategically placed towel. But when co-presenter Jessica Jaymes corrected Michaels, announcing to considerably more applause that Jameson had actually won, Savanna, in an inspired bit of comic relief - or was it a momentary meltdown? - whipped off the towel and marched offstage bare ass naked. To her great credit, a gracious Jameson helped defuse the situation and sooth any hurt feelings with her lavish praise of Samson, her fellow Vivid girl.

"I'm out by the sound board when this whole incident took place," Awards Show Producer/Director Gary Miller recalled, "and dealing with some other issue, and I look up on stage, and there's Savanna in the towel, and I went, ‘Oh yeah, I remember she said something about going out in a towel.' But then I started watching what was happening on stage, and at that point, I thought, ‘Uh oh, something's wrong. We fucked up.'"

Sean, you're one of the classiest guys in the biz, and we love ya baby, but we gotta ask, considering Jameson's name and Jameson's name only was on the winner's card inside the envelope, wha happened?

Michaels told AVN a few weeks after the gaffe that when reading the nominees in that category just prior to announcing the winner, Samson's name was last, and thus was still in his mind. Therefore, he said, when he partially opened the envelope, he saw the letters "son" and assumed it was Samson's name, not Jameson's. Yuh, whatever you say, big guy.

"Even so, no excuses," he said. "I love AVN and the Awards Show and consider Paul a dear friend, and I would never do something like that intentionally. And so I apologize to AVN, to Paul and to Savanna and Jenna. I love both those ladies. I only hope I can redeem myself at a future show. But if not, that's understandable too."

"It was a sign from the spirits to slow things down a bit," he added. And perhaps also to get a better night's rest if there's ever a next time, which, considering Fishbein's forgiving nature, is likely in the cards, undoubtedly just not next year.

"I just couldn't believe that he did that," Fishbein said. "It's hard to believe that anyone could read it [wrong]. But then he explained to me that he has a lot of personal things going on and his head was up his ass, and he admitted it and he apologized, and ... you know. And I like him, so I accepted his excuse. But Jesus Christ, how could he read Jenna Jameson and say Savanna Samson?

"My theory is, and he didn't disagree with me, I know he likes blonde girls, so he's probably thinking about how much he wants to fuck Savanna. And from thinking about it, he just said her name out loud."

And to think that Jenna only went brunette this year.

"I initially said it was the biggest blunder in AVN Awards history," Fishbein said. "Now I think it's gonna go down as a great moment."

If Michaels takes home the screw-up gold, then Jeremy Popoff, guitarist for So Cal alt-rockers Lit, gets the silver. Popoff accidentally knocked over his amp mere seconds into the band's performance of their hit, "My Own Worst Enemy," blowing out his guitar parts. That tune flat-out rocks, but not nearly as much this time as the band was forced to plow ahead as a drum-bass-vocals trio.

Miller said "all hell broke loose backstage and in the headsets" as his stage manager urged Miller to let Lit immediately do the song over again, this time correctly, while Fishbein advocated having the band reprise it at the very end of the show.

"What was originally scheduled to happen was, they do the song, and when they're done with the song, we roll the Hall of Fame [inductees montage] on the video screens," Miller recounted.

But because the debate was raging as to when Lit would re-do the song, if ever, the video screens remained blank.

"In the end it was decided to send [co-host] Thea [Vidale] out," Miller said. "Let her stall for time. Then we decided we were gonna let the band do the song at the end of the show. So then finally, we roll Hall of Fame."

Lit did indeed play an encore of the song at the end of the show, this version flawless with guitar parts in place, thank you, but not before Thea really stalled for time as the band's equipment was set up. Before the rockers once again hit the opening chords of "My Own Worst Enemy" however, out marched onto the stage in an unscheduled appearance two of porn-loving' shock jock Howard Stern's idiot regulars, "Miss Howard Stern" - no, of course that's not Stern's wife (he currently doesn't have one) - and some clown who calls himself Zolar. Both naturally proceeded to plug the FCC poster child.

The performance of another musical guest, hip-hopper Chingy, also had a moment of, well, spontaneity when Antiqua Pictures owner Todd Blatt rushed on stage so that he could have his photo taken with the rapper, something Blatt is apparently fond of doing at hip-hop shows.

Later reviewing footage of the show with Fishbein, Miller recalled saying, "Who's that fucking idiot going on stage?" And he goes, ‘That's Todd Blatt.' I didn't recognize him because I guess the last time I saw him, I think he had hair."

Several weeks later back in Chatsworth, when Miller confronted Blatt about the incident, "he admitted to me that that he went on stage, like a cheese-ass, to get himself a stupid little snapshot with him standing next to Chingy."

While a bit more understandable, honorable mention must be made nonetheless of Déjà vu Showgirls owner Harry Mohney, recipient of the Reuben Sturman lifetime achievement award. In his acceptance speech, not only did he call Larry Flynt and Jimmy Flynt Larry Flynn and Jimmy Flynn, but he even blew the last name of the man who selected him for the honor, calling Fishbein Fishbaum.

Though some members of the audience shook their heads and rolled their eyes, Fishbein's mother, Dolores, sitting at the head table, took it in stride. "We get that all the time," she shrugged. So, too, did Fishbein, attributing the mispronunciations to Mahoney's, uh, make that Mohney's, nervousness at addressing a packed ballroom roughly the size of an aircraft carrier.

"A guy who's not used to speaking in public goes up in front of 3,500 people," Fishbein said. "Anybody could do it. He knows my name. And he's been friends with the Flynts for 35 years. And he's a First Amendment freedom fighter. So guys who go to jail to fight for the First Amendment, they get a break."

Not that Mohney screwed up everyone's handle in his remarks.

"At least he got my name right," Stern cracked when later playing portions of Mohney's comments on his radio show.

On balance, however, the evening's various gaffes and unplanned drama didn't even come close to ruining the show for Fishbein, a man who's been known to obsess more about what goes wrong at the annual gala than what goes right.

"Fuck-ups are cool. We haven't had a ‘risky burlisky' in a while," he said a few weeks after the show, referring to the now-classic mispronunciation of risqué burlesque by awards presenter Micky Lynn many moons ago. "Fuck-ups are good for future awards shows. To show as bloopers.

"In most ways," he continued, "last year's show was the best ever because it absolutely went flawlessly. Because of the quality of the bands we had this year [in addition to Lit and Chingy, Smash Mouth also played], I'd say this is our second best show ever."

Now that's perspective.
