View Full Version : suddenly howard loves on-demand NickFalzone 07-29-2005, 11:55 AM when he's in the middle of a deal to do his tv show as part of an on-demand service. Coincidence? Love the show but sometimes I feel like I'm being sold. WhatRUaRetaaard 07-29-2005, 12:13 PM this on-demand shit better not be PPV on-demand...if it's HBO or something like that, then fine, but PPV on-demand...forget that  WhatRUaRetaaard 07-29-2005, 12:20 PM Why forget that?...what would your problem be with that? What do you have against PPV on demand as compared to other on demand services? Is your problem the service itself?...or more the pay/pricing structures and the viewing structures? Please share your thoughts and complaints. I won't pay for it...my cable bill is already $185 a month since I have my cable service, modem, and phone service through the cable company.... WhatRUaRetaaard 07-29-2005, 12:26 PM OK....I understand that you already have cable service...but exactly what won't you pay for in addition to what you already receive/pay for? You're first post said that one type of on demand was ok to you..but that another type was not ok. Do you already receive an on demand service like HBO on demand for free?...or do you pay an additional fee for hbo on demand? I'm talking about PAY PER VIEW!! you fucking make everything into more than what it is...I won't pay for PAY PER VIEW!! I already have HBO On-demand and Cinemax On-demand and Showtime On-Demand, but I'm not going to fucking pay extra for PAY PER VIEW just to watch Stern SirGaryColeman 07-29-2005, 12:27 PM when he's in the middle of a deal to do his tv show as part of an on-demand service. Coincidence? Love the show but sometimes I feel like I'm being sold. How do you explain the part where he said "but on-demand is only good for porn," which would be counter intuitive to the conspiracy. Although, he's talked about on-demand a bunch before.. he never says anything real bad about it, usually just talks about how he uses it. So it's nothing new. And if he is in a deal, why would he talk shit? It's one thing to suddenly hype something he trashed, but that's not the case... he just talked like normal... no real hype.. definitely didn't make me want to go out and use it. Caiaphas 07-29-2005, 12:38 PM Cablevision has the best Internet service in America, slutsuckers. NickFalzone 07-29-2005, 12:42 PM never used on-demand myself, but if howard really wants to have his sirius show on tv unedited then something like an HBO or showtime would be fine. But what howard really seems to want is to take his audience's money. I don't think many fans will rush out to get on-demand of his show in addition to sirius... however, on-demand for some fans might be an alternative to getting sirius, so maybe that's what he's thinking. I think alot of E! show fans didnt listen to the radio all the time, it was almost like 2 separate audiences. How many people listen to the show at 7 am then 11 pm? those are rough hours. Sirius_Sam22 07-29-2005, 12:55 PM this on-demand shit better not be PPV on-demand...if it's HBO or something like that, then fine, but PPV on-demand...forget that  WWF or whatever the hell they go by now, is going to come out with a PPV-On Demand type thing. I think it's only offered in Arizona right now, but it's something like $20 something a month and you can view a bunch of classic WWF moments JKGroups 07-29-2005, 01:00 PM WWF or whatever the hell they go by now, is going to come out with a PPV-On Demand type thing. I think it's only offered in Arizona right now, but it's something like $20 something a month and you can view a bunch of classic WWF moments WWE=24/7 is between 8-12 a month & is becoming available across the country very quickly due to its popularity It already has about 20% coverage so a lot more than Arizona has it Also Howard talked about On-Demand well over a year ago & how he loved it so his praise is nothing new I doubt we would see the COMPLETE show on-demand because then it would hurt Sirius MoEl 07-29-2005, 01:01 PM Going pay-per-view On-Demand for his daily video show is a pretty big gamble. It's such a huge psychological barrier for many people to pay by-the-show, per se, rather than by/for a flat monthly service. That is to say nothing of the economic burden, if he's thinking of $4/show, 4 shows/wk= $64/mo less package bonus ("FOR YOU, discounted to $50/mo!") Would most here pay an extra $10/mo for it, if it was offered that reasonably? MoEl 07-29-2005, 01:09 PM Frankly, I always felt that after FCC gets sufficiently motivated to go after satellite's pantleg, the only way the Show could continue uncensored would be to charge an additional fee for it, making it a 'conscious decision' for folks to listen to the raw language, instead of having it seep through any 'innocent/naive' satellite subscriber's radio (who wanted music but didn't expect the blue language--and there will be a few). Crissakes, was that all one sentence? jms397 07-29-2005, 02:12 PM Is it just now you feel like you're being "sold"?...is that something that is new to you? That has always been a part of the Stern Show right from the very start.....because that is a major part of what the Stern Show is about. ...selling Howard...selling sponsors stuff etc etc. Howard's sold me the following products, all through discussing/hyping through the radio show: Butt Bongo Fiesta Snapple Lagerfeld Foto New Years Rotten Eve PPV Private Parts book Miss America book Quivers A Life book ( I needed to read about the Ham Hands) :D Private Parts movie Sirius Satellite Radio I have Direct TV, so if his TV deal doesn't include them, I'll just have to miss out on it or download from the torrents. Hearing him talk about how he enjoys his on-demand service makes me believe the stories that he is headed that way. I know when he's selling something, but if its a product I think is worth it, I'll buy it. WhatRUaRetaaard 07-29-2005, 03:00 PM I'm not making more out of this. You expressed great emotion about the subject...and I'm just asking you follow up questions to better understand exactly what you're talking about. ...and to better understand what you would be willing to pay for or not pay for in additional services in order to receive some Stern stuff. I don't think that you fully understand the On Demand technology as it is today and certainly not how it might be in the very near future. Just wondering....do you pay extra to receive all of those on demand channels?(HBO/Cinemax/Showtime) ...or did you get them for free in some sort of subscription deal? bro, I'm not a fucking idiot, I do understand the On-Demand technology, you're just a pain in the fucking ass man...I'm not going to pay an extra monthly fee just to watch Stern...and I have a special package to get all the On-Demand channels Magnum PI 07-29-2005, 03:13 PM I agree with the thread starter about Howard being xtra chipper about ONDemand today and guess what? He's taking his show there and will be announcing it on Monday. Howard's cool and all but ill be damned if I pay for his TV show. I thought his motto was to never charge/exploit his fans? Oh well... NickFalzone 07-30-2005, 04:04 AM love howard but the only way id pay for his tv show is if i end up skipping out on sirius. NickFalzone 07-30-2005, 04:05 AM i think howard claims that he will never get into the game of selling useless junk to his fans, like t-shirts, bobbleheads, that sort of junk. Yayer 07-30-2005, 07:03 AM i think howard claims that he will never get into the game of selling useless junk to his fans, like t-shirts, bobbleheads, that sort of junk. I must concur! I watched very little of the E! show to begin with; to start paying for it now would be assinine. Duck My Sick 07-30-2005, 07:41 AM I'm hoping it will be uncensored so we can see some titays. Am I going to pay for it? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Although it's funny to see some of you freaked out, you all need to simmer down now. I mean, your already on the internet. It's not like the oppertunity of seeing for free isn't going to be a few clicks away. Whhaaaaaaaa! If I want to watch it on TV I have to pay for it Whhaaaaaaaa! NickFalzone 07-30-2005, 07:47 AM going to the net to d/l stern shows is way too much work for me. if my tvs on and E! was on i'd watch the show, but im not gonna start downloading it, let alone paying for it. WhatRUaRetaaard 07-30-2005, 10:36 AM I didn't say that you were an idiot...and I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass...I'm just asking questions and seeking answers. Why are to against paying an extra fee to watch the Stern Show on TV? Do you think that you could change your mind once all of the details are released and known?...content...fees etc? It's not that you don't want to watch right?...you'd watch various Stern video content...you're just not seeking to have to pay an extra fee etc..right? I take it that you watched and enjoyed the E show when it was airing. I am interested in this special package that you mentioned about the on demand channels that you receive...can you please share some more details about this package that you receive? What cable company/service do you have?....Is this a package offered by the cable company or directly by the channel companies? Is this a special first time subscriber or upgrade package?....a limited time package? By "all the on demand" channels...does that include just the HBO/showtime on demand stuff..or the other PPV type on demand channels as well? Is this some sort of employee or corporate related cable package that isn't exactly available to the general public? Do you pay for the service?..or is it a freebie? my cable bill is $185 a month, that includes, cable with HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and Starz, HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime all include On-Demand...it comes with my AOL for Broadband, and then comes with digital phone...good service I don't feel like paying an extra amount just to watch Stern, the E show was great because it came with whatever I had, if it's on PPV and I have to pay an extra monthly payment besides by $185, I won't do it...it's just ridiculous and pisses me off about how Howard will make his fans pay besides the $12 a month for Sirius, but an extra fee just to watch him on TV...the guy who always says he'd never fuck his fans over, it's sorta hypocrtical how now we'll have to pay just to hear him and watch him...that's all T Rath 07-30-2005, 04:24 PM If you really love Howard and his work...how could you not want his Tv show?... Simply because the E! Show was basically about nude broads. Which is fine, I love a nude broad as much as the next guy. But why pay to see Howard spend 30 minutes whining and begging to get the broad nude? And on top of it a broad that's already a pain in the ass when asked questions. I can watch tons of nude broads in porn. I'm guessing it's thinking like mine that has caused Howard's uncensored vids on his website to do vritually no business. I'll pay to hear the show, because it's about more than than naked chicks. But I'll download the torrents of the video. Sirius_Sam22 07-31-2005, 04:53 AM Does anyone with a TiVo allowed to record On-Demand stuff ????? Im using Cox's DVR, but It wont let me record anything on On-Demand |
