You still will be paying $41.99 for the core Directv package, $12.00 for tivo, and $5.00 each receiver after the first. How MUCH are you saving by going to directv?? Not much. Have fun dealing with rain fade, clouds, snow.... I had Directv and hated it.

WRONG. Tivo on DirecTV is 4.99 a month. if you have CABLE and you get TiVo it's $12. Besides that, you will be saving a shitload on just about everything. I've had satellite for over 8 years and not once has it ever gone down. Cable on the other hand always did. And i'm not even getting into Picture quality, cause its obvious that Satellite is superior. Cable rapes you with their prices and their customer service is the worst not only in the tv industry, but pretty much any industry. I had cable, had Dish Network and had DirecTV. Its no contest. DirecTV all the way. Better Equipment, Better Programming, Better Deals, Better customer service.

DirecTivo has no charge. 12.95 is the charge for a standalone tivo box. DirecTV doesn't charge to have DirecTivo...just $4.95 for the additional receiver so you can record a show on two different channels at the same time. TiVo is far and above better than anything that cable can offer because Cable (at least the cable company that provides the service in my town), while they have them, only offer single tuner DVR's without any way to do the Season Pass™ option. DirecTV has that market cornered!

I got the Total Choice for $41.99/mth, 7 HBO's and 12 Starz channels for $23.00/mth, Tivo for $4.99/mth, $10.00 off my bill each month because I have Verizon phone service, A DirecTV DVR w/Tivo FREE *after mail in rebate, DVD Home Theater System FREE *after mail in rebate and because I live in NJ, I pay NO TAXES on my bill each month. I've had shitty service with cable for decades. I jumped at the chance to get DirecTV when I could, mainly because I was sick of cable systems charging me lots of money while telling me "well, you can't get good reception on all channels - sorry"...

Now I have DirecTV plus the DirecTivo. I've had DTV for 6 years now, and I'm loving life.

El Segundo, CA_Jun 29, 2005__ DIRECTV, Inc. today announced that it has filed a program access complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against iN DEMAND, a programming service owned by cable giants Comcast, Time Warner and Cox. As described in the complaint, iN DEMAND's pricing scheme for its INHD high-definition programming would force DIRECTV to pay three to four times what Comcast and Time Warner pay for the exact same service.

iN DEMAND's original fee structure followed standard industry practice-basing rates on the number of subscribers who can actually receive the INHD service. After launching INHD, iN DEMAND concocted a new pricing scheme based on the total number of digital customers, even though only a small percentage of those digital customers can actually receive INHD's high-definition programming. Because all subscribers to a DBS service -- like DIRECTV - are "digital" while less than half of a typical cable system's subscribers are "digital," this pricing scheme results in an obvious discriminatory impact against DIRECTV.

"This is not accidental. It is a deliberate strategy by iN DEMAND to favor its cable owners over its satellite competitors and achieve its goal of keeping INHD ONLY ON CABLE, as its advertising tagline suggests," said Dan Fawcett, Executive Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, DIRECTV, Inc.
"If allowed to continue, iN DEMAND's unlawful pricing structure could become a model for every cable-affiliated high-definition programmer seeking to deny DBS operators like DIRECTV access to valuable high definition content. The FCC must take action to combat these clear violations in order to preserve its pro-competitive policies and ensure consumers have access to programming at fair prices," said Fawcett.

DIRECTV is asking the FCC to do following:
- Find that the pricing scheme violates the Communications Act and the FCC's rules;
- Require iN DEMAND to offer INHD to DIRECTV at rates, terms and conditions per HD subscriber comparable to those it offers cable operators.

I understand it, but (because I'm one of the people who will not be able to get the service) I don't like it. But if I was him, I'd prolly do the same.

InDemand is obviously giving him a lot of money; the show will not be censored; and it will be available to a large number of viewers nationwide.

True, it's not as widely available as, say, HBO - but I think its roughly on par with something such as Sirius radio, in terms of availability.

He still has no idea what Sirius is about, can barely answer any questions about what it offers or the equipment involved, and he barely even knows the name of the company he just signed the TV deal with, Gary had to inform him live on the radio. I know he's a busy guy, but thats just fuckin stupid. Did anyone even inform him about the people that are not able to get in Demand? or did he just look at the Benjamins and signed up? Why the hell is he making on air announcements about something he doesn't even have a grasp on? Its just embarassing.

The thing that bothers me is that MLB, NHL, WWE and what not are able to make deals with both Satellite TV and Cable, yet Howard only goes for Cable... and since satellite radio is supposed to be the future of radio, why isn't satellite tv the same thing?

That's just the thing - this programming could be carried on DirecTV. See the short article I posted above. Its just that InDemand wants to charge DirecTV 3 to 4 times as much as they charge the cable companies for their programming.

Hopefully that will get settled, 'cause I wanna see Howard's TV show uncensored (without having to rely on pirated internet downloads).

I don't care about the "on demand" aspect of the programming, since Tivo makes every show that way (pause, fast forwarding, etc). They can just air the programming on a special channel, and my Tivo can record the programming just like it was a normal show (PPV or otherwise).

If there is a certain number of hours of programming to become available each week, I wouldn't mind waiting an extra day or so for it to be delivered to me rather than getting it at a moments notice (especially if the other choice is not getting it at all)...

I'm not taking sides here but " xtc" is more than entitled to that opinion and it's a phone call Howard will probably get on a regular basis from pissed off fans.

HBO does provide an amazing outlet for several alternative sources of entertainment(OZ, Sopranos, Real Sex, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dennis Miller, Bill Maher, Chris Rock, Entourage, Larry Sanders etc). I mean OZ for crissakes, gang prison rape, it doesn't get any more bottom rung than that and they can't handle bologna tossing?? I don't buy it.

I can't believe no one has brought this up but Howard really pissed me off with this In Demand slop in that HE'S picking the content WE get to pay for. THAT'S bullshit, you have 4 1/2+ hours of radio show to choose from and he's streamlining it to the same dopey half hour tedium that was the E show. And in many instances the WORST segments of the day.

Think about how crappy Howard's taste in TV(American Idol, Bachelor, Joey etc) and music(everything) is and now HE'S picking content YOU get to pay for. This SOOOO blows! My question is WHY WHY WHY WHY can't they have the WHOLE damn show accessible broken up into segment intervals that we get to choose from off each daily broadcast? How hard could that possibly be if a WWE broadcast is routinely 3 hours?

I would MUCH rather watch the news with Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel or Nick Dipaolo than skanky Krystale groveling for implants or the gang riffing about the weekend from 6am to see would be cool.

In the last few years EVERYTHING Howard does that's non-radio is a little half-assed, WAAAAYYY too thought out, and doomed for failure or not even launching. I'm starting to think it's Don Buchwald reJEWvinating Howard's Jewish side in terms frugality and overall hard-to-get hardball tactics with any and everything.

Then I must not be a true, hardcore fan-even though I've recorded about 95% of the radio show for the past 20 years. The RADIO show. Sure, I Tivo the E! show every night but I flip through it the same way I flip through Yankee games when the opponent is at bat. It's mildly interesting, sometimes fascinating, but truth is-I've already heard it and it's not the end of the world. And keep in mind, Howard predicted Enuff Znuff to be a HUGELY popular band, so it's not like he always makes great decisions. I just don't see it as that big of a deal.

Satellite TV is obviously superior to cable, but because IN DEMAND is owned by the cable companies, they are offering the same channels to DirecTV at 3 or 4 times the price they are offering it to Cable Companies. Maybe if you did a little research, you would know that DirecTV is actually Suing In Demand because of this. Just because they don't have In Demand, and who the fuck can blame them with this kind of business bullshit that In Demand is trying to pull, it doesn't mean that Cable is a superior product. How dopey is this guy??? He doesn't get why people are complaining!!! Since you're too stupid to comprehend, let me break it down for you. People are complaining about the VOD decision for the following reasons:

1. They won't be able to get the show!
2. Even if they do, now they have to pay for it!
3. They are already paying an additional $13 a month for the radio, not to mention the HUNDREDS of dollars they spent on the hardware for Sirius, and now they have to pay at least another $10 or more per month to watch him.

Most people, even his hardcore fans will not be happy about this, if you look around the board here, the vast majority of the people are unhappy about the deal, and we are his most hardcore fans, imagine the average or casual fans! no way they are going for it.

So, does this fuckin explain it to you, retard, or do we have to draw a god damn diagram and chart for your dumb ass? :rolleyes:

And it's an amazing thing-there were about 10 of us that saw the Mask and we all came out saying 'Who the FUCK is this Cameron chick!' and she was like the hottest chick we ever knew. Then she got opening her big yap and never shut up. That obsession was the shortest-lived for all of us.
I can't think of anything more annoying now than those 3 Charlie's Angels broads-appearing together on talk shows, etc.

I have never seen him post anything insightful and i doubt he ever has based on this thread alone. I dont know anything about him except what i've seein in this thread. Its not about disagreeing. I have no problem if the guy just disagrees with me. My beef with him is that he has lied, put words in my mouth, completley misinterpreted things that i have said and to top it all off, the guy is an anti-semite.

ARM-maybe you could explain something to him. The anti-semetic thing is also WAY off base because 1: He's basing that opinion on a comment I made about the '7 Jew bankers that control Hollywood' which is 1: A variation of a joke that David Cross (who is Jewish does-so apparently he's also anti-semetic) 2: Something that Larry David (also noted Jew) has an entire 20 minute routine about and 3: Is a long-standing line of bullshit among ACTUAL anti-semites who have a conspiracy theory that, yes, there are a group of Jews that basically control the world through banks and the enterainment industry.
Also, if I were an actual anti-semite, living in New York City is about the WORST place to be. Not to mention my Mother's maiden name is Blum. So I'm a half-self-hating-Jew-anti-semite.
