If you are already a member of SFN1, there is no need for you to re-register. Just follow this link (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/member.php?action=lostpw) and re-activate your old account. That way all of your old information will be saved.

When you click on the link, it will bring you to a form. You'll enter the email address from your profile into the form and it will send you an email with directions. follow the link in the email and your account will be activated and a new password will be emailed to you. Once you get the second email with the password, you can login to SFN2. You'll also be able to pick a new easier to remeber password then.

If you registered for the first time and are frustrated that you can't post yet, it's because all new registrations are moderated and your account has to be accepted into the DB before you can use it. You'll be emailed when you account gets turned on.

so do we have to re-register then?

after you fill out the form, you'll get and email with an url to follow. if your email client wraps the url, some of it might get cut off. if it gets cut off, it won't work. try highlighting the entire url, and copy & paste it to the browser. it will bring you to a page that says your account has been activated. if it doesn't, you didn't get teh whole url. AOL users might have this problem so make sure you get the whole url.

Didn't work for me, Mutt. I kept getting a reply that said; "We don't have your email address on file". No matter, I needed a change anyway.

I think it is to keep people from having alot of multiple accounts.

You asked why new accounts were moderated.

I think all old accounts had to be re-activated so Mutt would be able to remove all the account that people don't use or plan on using.

The reason for activating old SFN accounts was so someone didn't sign up and take your name. If you email has changed and you can't activate, just sign up for a new account. Plus, the old passwords aren't being used, so you need a way to set up a new one and prove that this is really your account. If it's too much work for you or you can't figure it out, just sign up for a new account. I was only trying to help. I know it's a little tricky, but it works if you take your time and follow the directions. It's the only safe way for you to get back into your old account.

If it doesn't work, try again.

if the site knows who you are, but you still can't post yet, your account hasn't been activated correctly!

try activating again, but be careful that the activation url that is emailed
to you doesn't get cut off
http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/member.php?action=lostpw
go here and follow the prcedure again, just make sure that the url in the email isn't wrapped and therefore cut off. if it is, highlight and copy the entire url and paste it to the browser.

A lot of people have had this problem. The url is real long and if you have word wrap turned on, it is cut into 2 lines and only the top line is a hyperlink. Clicking it still gets you to a page, but without the end of the url, the account won't get activated.
