Yeah, I really want to pay to hear shitting, farting and puking. Tht doesn't make me laugh, it makes ME want to vomit when I hear that. I'll just get the daily download of the show. No way in hell I'll pay for radio.

As for the "you pay for cable TV" retort. Yes I do, and I SEE what's going on.

Also, I doubt it will take long for Howard to push the wrong buttons and get satellite regulated. Think I'm being ridiculous? It's just a matter of time now before abortion is illegal.

Have had it since last X-mas.. LOVE IT!!
No commercials/bullshit..I drive for a living so I listen to it 6-7 hrs a day. Got the boom box..for at home. NFL GREAT!!
Only problem is the boom box doesn't have enough balls.. I have to set it to "broadcast" to my home stereo.. Other than that I have zero complaints...

The people who complain about "paying for radio" crack me up. It's 12 dollars a month! You could blow that much in coffee in a day at Starbucks, or in soda in a week, or in a million other things that are overpriced but you don't think about.

I've had it for about a year and have loved it and fucking Howard's not ever there yet. If you like music you should get it. If you like Howard you need it!

I have had sirius for about a year now. I got it last Jan not too long after howard announced he would be going there. I am so glad i did. The only time i listen to old radio is when stern is on the rest of the time its satellite all the way.

I just got my unit all set up. I opted for the starmate replay with a one year subscription. When we went to activate it, we had a hell of a time. It just would not get set up, so we called sirius and the guy was super helpful. It took him about a half hour or so to get it finally working, and at the end of the call he said that he was sorry about all the trouble and added an extra 3 months onto my account.

Well I just got Sirius car kit installed on Tuesday and I LOVE IT! I'll be getting the home kit in January.

I would have never considered Satellite radio until Stern signed with Sirius. That was the main reason I got Sirius to begin with.

Now that I have it, I WILL NEVER go back to regular radio. I love the music and entertainment stations. Sirius also has the NFL, which I love.

I can't wait until Stern is in full force in January.

Trust me people-- Sirius is awesome! And in the next few years, MILLIONS more will make the switch. My parents didn't know much about it. Once I showed them how satellite radio worked, they loved it.

I think this is how alot of people will come across satellite radio. Once they experience it... they will want it!

By the way, I have the NEW Sirius REPlay radio. It is so awesome. You can pause, rewind and Fast Forward LIVE radio content for up to 45 minutes! It's like having a tivo on a radio system.

I highly recommend the Sirius REPlay to people considering Sirius Radio!

Sirius STERN- January 9th the future begins.

Got me a Replay for my one year wedding anniversary...any wonder i married her??
Had the honor of being able to listen to the first series of programming.(the fart/queef show)
I'm now in the process of getting the little lady to buy the home receiver.
I have to agree that once Howard comes over to the promised land, I will never want to listen to FM again.
Had a wierd thing occur the other day as I was commuting to school....started to get static on the Replay and was like WTF!
I turned off the receiver and heard someone else Sirius coming thru my radio!!
They were checking out RawDog...I listened until around 5:58 a.m., and then it went to terrestrial radio...the other car had turned to listen to the Man.
Curious if anyone else has had problems with their receiver getting "Stepped On" by a stronger Siruis signal. I know that it is one of the downfalls of having a transmitted signal, so I may have to hard wire it into the cars head unit...Keep on countin' 'em down!

Because you're using the FM transmitter instead of a direct wire connection this is bound to happen. The FM transmitters in these Sirius radios can have a range of 20-40, or more, feet depending on the surroundings. The only way to eliminate this interference permanently is to hard wire the car kit craddle. You can do this yourself(you can buy parts to do this even if your car stereo doesn't have an extra input, or auxilary input) or pay someone to do it. Good luck.

Anyone waiting until December, or the last minute, to buy a Sirius radio may be in for a surprise if they wait too long. Every year for the past 3 years, especially during the holidays, most stores run out of Sirius radios. Restocking has always been a problem. So don't wait until the last minute if you want to be ready for January 9th, Howard's first broadcast. I'm already seeing supplies dwindling at the stores in my area and the rush to buy at the last minute hasn't even started. It will, after Thanksgiving. Don't wait till the last minute.

Get your radio soon or you'll end up frustrated and you'll miss the first few shows. http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Many people were frustrated last year when they couldn't find any Sirius radios, anywhere.

I,m not into sports, mostly talk radio. However, I'm looking forward to the latest and greatest radio (sirius) coming soon.
I'm in san diego, and they changed my station to an fm talk, and it sucks. They call it free fm. They should pay me. However, it,s because of howards move I even considered moving to satalite radio, what a choice!

You can get a Sirius radio for as low as $49. That's not too bad. It shouldn't break anyone's bank account.

Like everybody here, I signed up recently so I can prepare to listen to Howard. I like the idea of satellite radio (I have satellite TV already), but I have to say I'm very disappointed. Has everybody been brainwashed or don't the rest of the Sirius users see these same issues?

1) Reception is sporadic at best. I live in a large metropolitan area and in some places I get three bars, but most often I get 1 or 2. Other places, I hit dead spots especially while travelling. I'll be riding down the road listening and all of a sudden it just goes out for a few seconds. If I go into my parking garage at work, which is an open garage by the way, I lose signal immediately. If the unit would simply buffer several seconds of signal, these outages would be unnoticeable except in extreme cases. Are there any devices that do this?

2) The sound quality really SUCKS . For talk radio it's satisfactory, but for music it's horrid. It all sounds like a cruddy MP3 rip so all the high end sounds like it's played through a tin can. The whole point of digital is perfect clarity isn't it? Geez, even the local FM stations sound better! Is it just this unit? Is it because it's being played via the car radio? Turn to any station with dance music like 33 (which has a lot of rhythmic high-end) and tell me it doesn't sound as bad as the online stream.

Conversely, XM radio's quality sounds great. I get it now via our DirectTV for free and it's CD quality. Not tinny.

3) The online offerings are horrendous . Not only is Howard Stern not online, but almost none of the talk stations are online. This was my whole point of buying the unit so I could listen to Howard in the car and continue listening to him at work. I think it's really weasley of Sirius to advertise online offerings without being forthcoming about the fact that most of the good stuff that you purchased satellite radio for (adult talk for example) isn't available online. They also advertise that you can listen to Howard "anywhere" which is just plain lying when they don't offer it online and few people can get the show during the day in their workplace or without investing into hundreds of dollars of antennaes, repeaters, and crap to get signal indoors.

Along with this, the online quality is garbage. This isn't free Internet radio you know, we're PAYING for this. I expect the quality to be as good as the best WinAmp streaming stations.

And I've heard all the arguments from Sirius about why they don't offer most of their channels online and frankly they're all bullshit. The content has been paid for by the people wanting to listen to them. We are paying a monthly fee for the content, not the device. The medium in which it's distributed is irrelevant. We simply aren't getting what we're paying for.

Both Howard and Mel Karmazin should be ashamed of fucking over their listeners like this. The real reason, IMO, is that they want you to have to pay 6.99 extra, plus additional $$ for a receiver in your office. The reality, is that you'll gain a small percent of people who pay for the extra receiver and the 6.99, but lose TONS of people who won't pay the monthly fee because they have no reason to sign up at all now. Very bad business and very greedy (or at least short-sighted).

Honestly, if Howard or Mel or any other powers-that-be at Sirius were interested in putting the show online, it would be done already or they'd be telling us it's in the works. All the petitions, all the rhetoric, all the complaints etc are futile. It's not until they realize they've lost the majority of their "new subscribers" that they'll realize their mistake. At that point it may be too late.

4) Commercials. Sirius advertises this PAY radio service as commerical-free which is a complete lie. Several of the talk channels advertise commercials for products and services from other companies, just like the free FM stations. All of them advertise Sirius at the very least (what's the point of advertising Sirius to people who already have it anyway?). So it's not really commercial free radio.

So all in all, I'm not particularly impressed and I don't really understand why anybody else would be either. At this point, I will keep my radio only long enough to hear the first few shows of Howard on the network and then I'll cancel my service. I see no reason to pay 12+ bucks a month for:

-Sporadic reception
-AM radio quality
-No Howard except for the 10 minutes in my car a day
-Commercials

I'm also really not interested in shelling out several hundred dollars for receivers, antennaes, power cables, repeaters etc to jerri-rig my home, car, and office then have to pay $25+ month on top of it.

Don't the other new subscribers have the same concerns/issues? Am I missing something here?

I do not have problem with the reception and I live in New Orleans (not that small of a city). I even bought a boom box and listen to it inside my work. I have not really heard any commercials yet because I primarily listen to Howard 100 and most of the music channels. I occasionally listen to Raw Dog and a couple of the sports stations but again I have not heard a commercial (maybe I am not paying attention to them???)
As for the online fringe benefits I was disappointed that I could not listen to Howard 100 on the net but the fact that my reception on the sportster boom box is outstanding inside my building I am cool with it.
Howard was one of the reasons I decided to buy Sirius, the other is the fact that I am tired of all the commercials on regular terrestrial radio. And the fact that I can listen to so many varieties of music stations is a plus.

So this is how I record the show. I am in LA so I have a radio that records from 3-5 Am and then I reset it later when I wake up to record the rest of the show. This is on cassette.

This of course will change when Howard goes to Sirius. I am curious how others record the show now and how they plan on doing it once the move is made.

I'll be using the S50, $229, unit to record his show. It's the most practical and portable solution.

The model Howard has is the new Sirius S50.

Just be aware that it can only receive "live" Sirius radio when docked in the car or home/office craddle. Then you take it with you as a portable and play the pre-recorded songs/talk-shows. The nice thing about this is you don't have to worry about reception problems that all "live" portables have. It can record upto 50 hours of songs. It has a "Love" button that you press when you hear a song you like and it records it and files it away. It can also hold MP3/WMA files. It has voice-assisted navigation also, where a pleasant female voice talks as you change the channels or press buttons. Nice feature when you're driving.

I have it. It's very very nice!! It costs about $279, but shop around, it varies. Here it is:

I love it so far. Jeff the drunk is compelling and the news is awesome. I just got it last night. I'm really hoping that a good portable unit comes out that doesn't cost $300 +.

Got it and love it. The s50 is a cool little package and allows me to take Howard on the go. Anyone know a good way to get a schedule of his programming with times - can't seem to find one on Sirius.com

Where do you live? Satellite radio is national and 200 miles east/west offshore from the coast, and as far north as Canada and as far south as Mexico City, Mexico.

I started with XM a few years ago. When Howard announced he was going to Sirius, I added Sirius. Just a few weeks ago, I cancelled my XM subscription and added my 4th Sirius radio to my account. Sirius is now in my home, my car, my wife's car and my daughter's car. :D

I was very lucky to get my Sirius Radio USA before Sirius Canada came on line. After Dec 1, they changed the 1888 number. Now, every time that you call 1.888.539.SIRIUS it will be rerouted to Sirius Canada. Now I’m all set for January 9. It’s sad that we Canadians have to jump thought hoops to see or hear what we want. The CRTC still pissed off with Howard, and this is revenge. As of Dec 21, Sirius Canada is doing as well as XM Canada. My local Best Buy and Future Shop has only three models for sale. I heard that Howard may come to Sirius Canada later in 06, but of course, the CRTC would be the one to make that decision. There are 2242 signatures in a petition to be send to Mark Redmond President and CEO of Sirius Canada. Of course, it’s not up to him to make that decision. Any ways, if you know any Canadians fans, give them a hand and help them get Sirius USA. http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I just KNEW I was getting a Sirius unit as an Xmas gift from either the mrs or else my father-in-law. Wasn't even sweating it.
I was fucking COUNTING on it but now I suspect that ain't gonna happen.
Something about receiving a 2 grand check to cover some home improvement work... specifically a new goddamn roof for our other house.
It'll be lonesome me out there between Dec.25 and Jan.9 beating the fucking bushes for a unit.
Goddamn but this is a major disappointment.
I'm not sure I can go on living.
A roof is a roof and guaranteed to last for 25 years but Howard is for... 5 years.
It's silly and it's selfish but I woulda preferred the home unit and a five year subscription but fuck no.......

It's not so much the 13 dollars a month as the upfront money to buy all the stuff, that's the expense. Some people just can't afford it.

I am beyond angry with Sirius; they have the worst customer care of any company I have ever dealt with.
I have been a Stern Show listener since 1987. In December I ordered Sirius radio and I am still waiting to hear the "new" show. They did manage to charge my credit card without any problems but getting me my radio seems to be beyond their ability .The following is a letter I sent to Sirius VP of customer care Micheal Moore after much frustration with their phone system. I've still to hear back from them. Nice way to treat the fans.

Dear Mr. Moore,

My name is XXXX XXXXXX (account # XXXX).

I am writing to inform you that I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer service your company provides. I have spent a substantial amount of time and effort trying to resolve a problem with a defective unit. The following is an up to date report of my problem and the poor customer service I have received:

¥ On December 18th, I purchased a Sanyo CRSR unit on your website. The Radio arrived on 12/20/05.

¥ I had set up and activated the unit on 12/21. Right away I noticed that something was not working correctly since my signal was repeatedly getting lost. I followed all the directions about placing the antenna, etc., and I would only get sporadic reception. I called your customer service Ñ they had no idea how to help me but they did suggest calling the manufacturer. I then placed a call to Sanyo and they asked me to try both antennas. I did what they told me in order to test the unit and then was told that it was defective and I should send it back. Therefore, I called Sirius customer service again in order to find out how to proceed Ñ but was told by them that the system was down and that I should call back tomorrow.

¥ On 12/22 I called Sirius and was told by the person "helping" me that she did not know how to handle this type of problem and that her supervisor would call me back. No one called me back for hours, so I called again and I was told that there was nobody there that can help me until tomorrow morning.

¥ On 12/23 I called Sirius again and the person I spoke with was surprised at my ordeal and gave me a return address, return number and told me to send the unit with delivery confirmation, and that I would be reimbursed for postage. I mailed the radio back priority mail with delivery confirmation ($5).

¥ On 12/27 Sirius receives my radio in Edison, NJ at 11.37AM.

¥ On 1/3/06 (evening), I called Sirius wondering when I would receive my new radio Ñ the person I spoke with informed me to call back in the morning because in the evenings there are no managers to handle that kind of problem and only activations are handled at this time that I had called.

¥ On 1/4 I called again and was told by two different people that all they handle is activation, so I asked for a manager or someone who could help me and then I was repeatedly put on hold or transferred to departments/people who could not help me. Finally, after half an hour on the phone, I talked to a manager who told me that they were out of radios and that I would have to wait 2-4 weeks for an exchange. I told him that the only reason I ordered Sirius was for the Howard Stern show, and that show starts on Monday, January 9th. I am told that he would look into it and get back to me... I never got a call or an email.

¥ To date, I have not received my radio, an email or a phone call. I would appreciate you letting me know as soon as possible how you will proceed in order to remedy my situation.

Sincerely,
XXXX XXXXX

It really does rock. I was shocked at how much better the show was now that they are uncensored. And it's not because they are swearing up a storm or anything, the show is just better. They are looser and more comfortable and Artie is definitely a lot funnier now.

i live in canada so if i decide to buy sirius i'm going with th grey market. not just because howard is still banned in canada, but the canadian feed is not the same as the american lineup. and some of the channels i want are not available in canada (like rumbon).

but my biggest problem with sirius is that it is still not 100% portable. and even when they come out with a portable version (soon, according to the 4sirius section of the board), how good will the reception be?

what's the point of paying at least $300 (considering that the S50 is $350 and not totally portable) plus a monthly fee and only getting reception 80% of the time? that 19% too little. satellite tv works all the time, as long as it's not raining (albeit not being portable).

if cell phones have all these wifi capabilities, sirius needs to get it's shit together.

Made the mistake of waiting until late December and everyone was out. Finally I found one in late January. Sirius seriously dropped the ball on this one there was alot of people wanting, but they underestimated how much business Howard would bring. That's what everyone I talked to at the stores said it's becasue of Stern that we are sold out, and on back order. Even the Sirius store was on backorder.

Even though "they"say you must be at home or in your car to to get the satellite function on an s-50. "They are" lying. get a car antenna and afix it to a hat. Make a simple power supply and wiola! You have a portable system. Remember there are a lot of arrogant Ethnics at Sirious. They couldn't figure this out ...well this gentile did. I know I will be killed for telling the truth. We (translate as my husband, since he has a unit with him all day and I don't drive much) have been subscribed since either October or November of 2005, so I voted that I'm listening now, even though I'm not literally listening "right now".

As for the Playboy channel, we both love it.

I Ordered my " FREE " sirius radio & it was defecetive. Aleredy spent over $20.00 on packing, shipping, miles & 2 hours on line with sirius trying to get them to take back.

Is anyone elese having this problem?

I know they postponed shipping the " FREE " radios.
I wonder if the just put a bunch of crap in the boxes just so they could get the third quater subscription rate up?
