View Full Version : bubba the love sponge
markb018 10-30-2005, 01:19 PM is it me or does this guy annoy you? i was listening to him when he went to eric's apartment and it sounded like he was just dropping f bombs just because he can do it now. maybe if he dropped that gay ass name for something else i might like him a little more but i still cant stand him as of yet
ChronoSkooma17 10-30-2005, 01:47 PM I love hearing that hack kiss Howard's ass.
That phone call with Ned and DLR made me crack up though.

Ned is funny....he was the only reason I could ever listen to their show.
markb018 10-30-2005, 01:54 PM didnt howard have beef with him months back??
mikeh77 10-30-2005, 01:54 PM I was up in the air but hearing him take the tour of High Pitchs dungeon....errr apartment...and telling him how vile and disgusting he is was fucking funny as hell.
That won me over.
anthonycomedian 10-30-2005, 02:15 PM I'm still not won over and it's going to take alot of time and alot of quality stuff in order to do so. There's just something about him that doesn't sit right with me.
ongka 10-30-2005, 02:16 PM He's pretty annoying to me as well, tries too hard. I got annoyed when he was trying to abuse chiusano in the studio, just to follow everyone else. When he was interviewing sour shoes, he made some reference to butt bongo fiesta that made me just go wtf? he doesnt even follow the show.
Those Ned calls are really good.
jasondylan 10-30-2005, 02:20 PM Yucko would be better to do the interviews than Bubba

I didn't get that either...I thought it was just me missing something, and I haven't gotten around to listening to it again.
Plus the fact he wouldn't shut the fuck up while Sour Shoes was on...SS is great..I woulda liked to hear him actually play, without Bubba interrupting every 15 seconds.
Darth KathieLee 10-30-2005, 02:23 PM I'll give him a shot starting in January, but until then, the jury is still out. Bubba will either soar or crash really fucking hard, depending on how he is received by the Stern fans, because I don't know of a single person who will buy SIRIUS because Bubba is going there.

amen to that. no one is buying sirius because of bubba. i think the first step is for him to change that gay ass name.
ChronoSkooma17 10-30-2005, 03:03 PM Bubba is everything that Howard hate(d) about other radio guys. Bubba needs to do something original, get away from the Stern show. Most of us don't even find him to be interesting, let alone funny.
Kid Chris=Good
Bubba=Bad
The Brandon 10-30-2005, 03:07 PM I'm not sold yet, but he is nowhere near as bad as that Mojo Nixon guy who does rants in-between news reports. I never wished to be deaf until I heard his rants that I guess are supposed to be funny.
And yeah, Bubba's usage of profanity sounds EXTREMELY forced.
VegasRobb 10-30-2005, 03:10 PM Yucko would be better to do the interviews than Bubba
Where is Yucko btw?
jms397 10-30-2005, 03:18 PM Bubba had an audience and decent ratings in the south where Howard wasn't on the air. If Sirius does some advertising in those areas and Bubba makes appearances around there, he will sell some subscriptions. Plus those people will finally be able to hear Stern.
I'm not into redneck humor but lots of people are and Howard knows that will bring some people to his channels who didn't really know what Howard's show is and only heard about it secondhand or through the E show.
I thought those Ned calls to the Alabama guy who was against dildos were funny.
didnt howard have beef with him months back??
Howard did a rant against Bubba and O&A three years ago when O&A were fired.
The Brandon 10-30-2005, 03:22 PM Bubba definitely had an audience in the Tampa area.
My boss used to listen to Bubba all the time even though he was a big Stern fan. He said that he could relate to more of what Bubba was saying or joking about since it was more local than Stern.
Which I completely understand; I've been to NYC once but I have heard about Nobu, Scores, and plenty of other places monthly due to Stern.
Even though a more local host is great since they will make jokes about local things, nothing tops the Howard Stern show, regardless of location.

I couldn't have said it better myself....in fact, I think I did say it myself, in one of the other countless redundant Bubba threads, a while back. ;)

you guys check your email....i sent ya something. :hw:
Deric 10-30-2005, 05:48 PM if you were born in the south he is your Howard Stern. Why do you guys think Stern has never been in Atlanta or gets better ratings in NYC, Boston, and DC then cities like say Tampa or Orlando. The people there are probably not into the topics of Scores, Central Park, fancy restraunts, etc where a guy they like such as Bubba will talk about milking cows or driving trucks through the mud or stuff they can relate too.
If Bubba can bring his old tapes there's some good phony phone calls from that Ned guy which is by far the best part of his show. He's also good to listen to if you're a wrestlign fan because he'll interview wrestlers often.
BTW, I'm always for Howard, but the guy who taught me how to drive trucks was a guy who lived here in Florida his whole life and was a Bubba fan so thats why I was forced to listen to him mainly for about a month and know this stuff.
specialyetti 10-30-2005, 06:09 PM I'm all for Howard and have always listen if I could get him .Bubba is a big draw through out the south plus that is only one show that will be on Howards channels. There will be a lot of new people to check out. I for one am going to give every one a fair try.But first and formost it's the king that it's all about
Bubba said some funny shit when he was in HPE's apartment.
"what advice did he give you other than scrape that butter right off your teeth"
"That's not air conditioning Eric, I'm from Florida I know what fuckin' air conditioning smells like"
Dr. Fong 10-30-2005, 09:59 PM I'm not sold on the guy yet, but I'll admit he's starting to grow on me a little. I'd like to see what he does once his regular show starts up.
drkodos 10-30-2005, 10:00 PM All sponges suck.
Jakyll 10-30-2005, 10:09 PM Howard already has the North, Bubba was strong in the south, and now he is part of the Stern Family. Seems like a win win situation.
Personally, he talked a little too much during Sour Shoes, and was sort of hamming it up for the microphone when he toured Erics apartment, but hopefully he will mellow out.

kenwjones 10-31-2005, 09:34 AM He should change his name to "Today's Sponge".
Jokie Jokeman 10-31-2005, 09:36 AM Howard's Comments On Opie And Anthony. 9/3/02. 6:25am
After taking a break Howard returned to talk about the firing of Opie and Anthony, come Howard Stern clones. Howard said he'd rather not talk about them but said he would do it later in the show. Howard ended up talking about it right then though. Howard gave a little history about them being hired by the same company he works for. He went on to say that they were rightfully fired because they were endorsing illegal activity when they had people having sex in public places... like St. Patricks Cathedral. Howard went on to talk about how these guys all grew up listening to him and went on to rip him off and bad mouth him on their shows. Howard moved on to talk about this guy Bubba the Love Sponge who is coming to some station he was listening to while he was out in the Hamptons. Howard said he kept hearing previews of the show and the guy was yelling about how Howard sucks. Howard said the guy was yelling about how he sucks but then he plays a song parody with Kermit the Frog singing about sodomy. Howard went on to say that the biggest loser when Opie and Anthony were fired was comedian Jay Mohr. Mohr used to bad mouth Howard because he could never get on his show. Howard said Mohr used to say that whenever he'd turn on Howard's E! show all he'd see is naked women. Meanwhile, he was doing Opie and Anthony's show and they got fired because they had people having sex in a church. Howard went on to talk about how no one will hire these guys now after what they've done. He continued to talk about all of these ''clones'' of his and how he can't wait to just get off radio in 3 years. He said he's done it all and he's ready to get out. His own company is hiring these clones and he can't wait to get out.
I really wonder what happened there to make Howard change his mind...
Satan 10-31-2005, 09:38 AM Maybe Howard can put Dopie and Anthony on his new station too?
albibi 10-31-2005, 09:52 AM No Dopie! No Ain't Funny! Let them rot on XM! There show sucks. I tried to Listen to it when I couldn't get Howard. Bubba though...is really growing on me like a fungus.

I guess you didn't hear howard and bubba discussing this. Howard basically said they can put the differences aside, he wanted to give him a new home because bubba was also screwed over by clear channel and the fcc.

Yep, that's the Howard I know and love. The one who is willing to set differences aside.
I guess we can look forward to hearing Imus on H100 any day now.
