View Full Version : Sound Off "doyou Think Robin Talks Too Much" jewyjewman 10-31-2005, 10:26 AM We want to hear what the fans have to say good or bad? jewyjewman 10-31-2005, 10:34 AM bump MrHankey 10-31-2005, 10:41 AM Sometimes she does when there is a guest she is really interested in but I would say overall that she contributes just about the right amount. By the way, I think you are doing a great job on the news so far. jewyjewman 10-31-2005, 11:12 AM thank you MrHankey 10-31-2005, 11:16 AM You're welcome. Keep up the good work. http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif kali 10-31-2005, 11:58 AM sometimes robin jumps in there when i'd rather she didn't, but the whole point of the show is that it's a conversation - that's why it's different than every other radio show out there! so i don't get too disturbed by robin - or anyone else - interrupting someone while they speak. it's real and that's all that matters. the reason we like it and listen is because it brings us in and we WANT to hear what people say! I wish I could be part of the show. that's the genius of howard. --------- Sal (the Faeg): "I love Richard" (Oct 21, 2005) jms397 10-31-2005, 01:04 PM Talking is her job, so that doesn't bother me. What does is when she pretends that she knows something that Howard doesn't and she is just as clueless. On Friday she tried to tell Howard that Daimler is British. Great info, except they are German. Tom from T.O. 10-31-2005, 01:05 PM Robin is a vital part of the fab four. Howard trusts her judgment, if he is unsure about a bit she will tell him to go ahead, she is always right in these choices, she takes the lead from Howard if he needs help and she has a superb radio voice. Everyone else who talks alot ends up annoying Howard, except for Robin, because she is sharp and has huge mamalians. Fred is the only other of the fab four who is just as smart and well informed about pop culture as Robin but he can't play the same role as her because he was born mute. JakMaeofer 10-31-2005, 01:48 PM robin doesnt not speak too much...in fact some of howard's best punch lines can be attributed to robin...robin will say a joke and its drowned out in the conversation,i think howard is the only one who hears it nd he repeats it nd gets a big laugh...it happens almost every show.. TheBlueprint 10-31-2005, 01:52 PM I don't think she talks TOO much, i actually enjoy her on the show and have found her to be quite funny at times. What I hate is that she has a very strong opinion about everything and sometimes she is just plain wrong. She will sit there and swear to you that a fucking banana is blue when you know damn well it's fucking yellow. Schnoffle 10-31-2005, 02:20 PM Its not her talking too much - its that I hate when she INTERRUPTS - as someone just posted, its worst when there's a guest on the show that she really likes, but a perfect example was this morning when Howard was disucssing the Scooter Libby and giving a rundown on how it compares to Watergate - she had to interrupt with minor corrections that didn't HAVE to be included - having to be extra know-it-all. There are times I yell at her through the radio though! SHUT UP ROBIN - just like that one voicemail they play from the "I SAW YOU" lady, she does the one where she says, "shut up robin, let howard talk!" All that aside, I don't think anyone else could do as good a job! http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif Shamela 10-31-2005, 02:36 PM Robin pretty much knows when to stifle. If Howard's on a rant, she'll wait for her chance to pipe up and go for blood. This morning, when she kept interrupting Howard as he was talking about the treason in Cheney's staff (both obviously watched last night's 60 Minutes), it might have been irritating except Howard was missing a main point. He wanted to get into dirty tricks and Robin was steering him to the big picture. I like the fact that Robin's willing to speak up and follow up on a point that slid by, whether it's a discussion or an interview. Robin rocked this morning when she went after Tom. Robin's loyalty is to Howard but she maintains credibility because, for all the rimming that goes on in the studio where Howard's concerned, she's not afraid to point out when he might be wrong about something. Robin's smart, tough, and remains the "voice of reason" -- and with the infusion of Sal and Christy and Tom's end-of-show-shenanigans, we have Ball-busting Robin back in full force. SidekickChuck 10-31-2005, 02:53 PM I dont think she talks too much....she is a vital part of the crew. I just hate it when she just agrees with Howard in just about everything with a guest. She just jumps in bashing the guest or caller if Howard starts to. Tom from T.O. 10-31-2005, 09:57 PM but a perfect example was this morning when Howard was disucssing the Scooter Libby and giving a rundown on how it compares to Watergate - she had to interrupt with minor corrections that didn't HAVE to be included - having to be extra know-it-all. You miss the point here. Anyone who thinks Howard is only T & A jokes needed to listen to that segment...Howard went after Cheney's head and the corrections by Robin are necessary because if you get the facts wrong, however minor the error, that could end up being used against you by someone who wants to spin your critique (the easiest way to deflect an attack is to point out a factual error) or if someone is considering a law suit. It isn't "just entertainment" when Howard goes headhunting on the Repubs, Karl Rove plays for keeps, in case anyone didn't realize this prior to Scootergate. Djarum 10-31-2005, 11:33 PM Every so often Robin will get a little mouthy, but Robin's main job is to be the audience to Howard. She is the only person on the show who always has a open mic. I think that reason is why some people think she talks to much. I am sure if Fred or Artie had open mics as well they would have fans saying they talk too much as well. And for those of you who complain about her oversteping her bounds on news, think about earlier today when she went off on Tom and told him to shut up. NWSternGirl 10-31-2005, 11:48 PM We want to hear what the fans have to say good or bad? Hey, how do I know, Connie?!!!? :p Overall? No, Robin does not talk too much. I love the role Robin has within the Show, and I love her attitude. She is Howard's "audience," questions his bullshit statements, gives the female perspective, and brings up questions or opinions to help round out interviews. Robin RULES! |
