Howard Stern getting forced time off

Howard Stern will be taking a rest on Tuesday, courtesy of his employers at Infinity Broadcasting Corp.

The “King of All Media� was suspended with pay for one day for talking too much about Sirius Satellite Radio, where he is moving his show in January. He has become an increasing annoyance for his current employer with seemingly nonstop promotion of the satellite service and diatribes against Infinity, a division of Viacom Inc.

“He’s been doing that a lot, and I’m sure he’ll continue to do it,� said a media buyer.

WXRK-FM, the flagship station for the Howard Stern Show, referred calls to Don Buchwald, Mr. Stern’s agent, who was traveling and could not be reached.

The one-day suspension was the inevitable result of the quandary Infinity has found itself in as it permits Mr. Stern to promote his upcoming Sirius show. Mr. Stern will launch two full-time channels on Sirius when he moves his morning show there in January.

Despite his promotion of the competition, Infinity has kept Mr. Stern on the air to take advantage of the premiums advertisers pay to appear on his show.

According to a radio insider, a “live read� on the Howard Stern Show -- in which the host promotes the product himself -- can cost as much as $5,000. Running a taped commercial on the show, as WXRK will do tomorrow, costs about half that.

Tomorrow morning, the shock jock’s fans will hear a “best of� the Howard Stern Show on WXRK-FM and in the more than 20 markets around the country where the show still airs.

What an asshole Joel Hollander is. I told Howard that when he leaves Infinity, I won't listen to or frequent KLSX's advertisers anymore.

boycotting all infinity stations is a good idea. if something can get organized, possibly under the banner of the sfn, and let it be known it would be better. to go further letters could go out to advertizers letting them know that we are boycotting their products as long as they advertise on infinity.

MikeQ, I have experience in protesting, but we need a core group and it needs to go beyond after Howard's retirement. Keep an eye on Howardstern.com, i'm trying to push an idea to Sal, Gary and Howard. But MikeQ I need your help too. Can you post the advertisers on WXRK on here and an e-mail addy? Everyone from Coast to Coast could spam the shit out of 1-800-MATTRES to boycott WXRK and AAMCO to boycott every Infinity station in America. Got it? ;)

i have already completely weened myself off of old radio except for the stern show only. i will never listen to krock again, or free fm or k talk or whatever the hell it is. what a joke of a radio station. nowadays i listen to nothin but sirius

First he'll kill Clear Channel, then he can move on to Infinity, although it'll probably be much easier to bury Infinity since they won't have shit when he leaves.

The more silent we are, the more Infinity and Joel Hollander wins. So we need to go to the advertisers and tell them that we won't be on the respected Infinity stations and frequent their businesses if they advertise on the station you're listening to after Howard is gone. Also at the same time, since this is a grassroot effort, we must phone or e-mail the other respected cities' advertisers and tell then that we won't be listening to them if they remain on the Infinity channel. Remind them that they can always go to Sirius and we will support them like we're doing now..

Of course it's Bullshit. I personally don't blame KLSX and Frank from the FHF show laughs at this bullshit. I know for a fact that Bob Moore the G.M. don't like it either, because, he criticized Tom Chiusano for censoring Howard too much. But also, it isn't Tom's fault either, but Joel Hollander, because that lazy fuck did not support Howard. The asshole and Infinity's upper management were more interested in buying more stations like Clear Channel did than support their on-air talent. Fuck, even Phil Hendrie knows this and indirectly criticized his bosses from Clear Channel for not supporting Howard.

Tom Chiusano is also a victim and the Wack Pack protesting is good but they should have gone to Infinity and not WXRK. The enemy is not Tom but Tom's bosses, as well as the FCC and Bush for puting in a caveat in the FCC because, Stern criticized Bush for not getting the FCC off his back. Not because of the war, but the FCC's iron fist.

Just posting like this will make Howard proud and Joel shit a brick. You know Joel is nervous that we can pitch a bitch, organize and finally get our job done. Too bad Infinity doesn't buy a shitload of stock.

Mishowardstern, that is, unless Joel is doing this shit to test out our loyalty and is considering buying stock in Sirius. The more people he piss off, the more the listeners would buy Sirius and the higher the stock goes, therefore, Infinity gets richer and richer.

Joel has the opportunity to make Infinity a lot of money. Sirius said that they were going to give Infinity 1 million shares of Sirius. Think about it, piss more people off, let Stern promote Sirius, get suspended, people buy the eqiupment out of anger, let the Wack Pack protest, and not just New York, Los Angeles, San Diego and other Stern markets, but around the U.S., ban Stern in Canada, and the stock goes up up up! So in other words:
