The Howard On Demand has been delayed until March.

Here's the link to The Detroit Free Press mention.

Anyone know anything more about the behind the scenes discussions that lead to this decision?

"Howard Stern's return to television On Demand has been put on hold until March. The video-on-demand service's president Rob Jacobson tells Multichannel News that the debut is being delayed to avoid consumer confusion with Stern's January debut on Sirius Satellite Radio."

is that just for new shows? will they still have the old e shows available before then?

It appears this is a total delay... no new or old shows until March.

So when is Howard gonna tell us?

I heard they were starting off with just a small selection of E! shows (due to the work behind re-editing them). I figure since some have already signed up they may go forward with that. I suppose this announcement is in concern to the new shows, otherwise I suspect Howard would be the one announcing this, not some website.

I had been noticing that Howard has not made any mentions or subtle sales pitches about listeners actually ordering it.

I have a hunch Howard has known for some time that OnDemand may not launch on time.

How many of the E! crew is working on OnDemand? All of them? What are the ones that have not moved into OnDemand doing?

Wow, that's a major delay if it's true...it does make sense that it would add to consumer confusion. I never really understood why Sirius was even allowing Howie to do the OnDemand thing in the first place. I know they get some money from it, but it seems like they would want 100% of the focus on Sirius and have that be the only place you can get Howard.

"""The most seasoned Stern veteran on the crew, Gange began working on Howard’s radio show as a college intern and was hired full-time as a line producer in 1992. In 1994, he joined the E! crew as a production assistant on The Howard Stern Show and rose through the ranks to the level of Supervising Producer. Gange was nominated for a CableACE Award in 1996 for his work on The Howard Stern Show.(>>>SNIPPED<<< )

Wow congrats to Gange.

Could it be possible that hardly anyone subscribed?

If so, Howard is going to hype hype hype On-Demand until March.

That's very insightful, Donald.

Howard was hawking it like crazy a couple of months ago. Now, we're four days away from the big debut and he's said nothing.

Either they're not ready or Mel doesn't want $9.95/month going to OnDemand before Sirius is getting its $12.95/month, since some folks won't be able to afford both.

For the record, I'm glad I got Sirius in August -- and having its comedy and H100 News/features has made it worth every penny!

Good theory... could be. But does it really cost that much to put this on tv that they couldn't get their money back in sales? I doubt it... this would be a crap move for sure if it's true. I hope not.

There have been no TV ads as far as I can see, though... so if it is coming on Nov 18, they've been doing virtually no PR outside of Howard himself own his on show.

The only reason I haven't bought it is because Cox hasn't put up a # to call or anything. . .

March?. . .This would be really stupid. . .so they plan on airing 60-90 minutes of THE SHOW on Siri next year, day after THE SHOW airs live, from what I read. . .. . .How the fuck are they going to catch up will all THE SHOWS from Jan to March. . .

Old E! SHOWS and whatever H wants on should air till Jan 9, then they should start the Siri SHOWS. . . .simple. . .

I for one am happy about this...
Have Comcast Digital cable, but In Demand isn't available in my area yet, and I live in a fairly decent sized city.
I fucking hate Comcast's call center representitives...fucking moron's don't know shit!

I'm kind of glad about the delay. Maybe give those idiots over at Cablevision a little more time to realize they need to jump on this and have it available for their customers!!!

http://www.multichannel.com/article...y=Breaking+News...If you read that carefully it says,
"Fans anxious to view Howard Stern’s uncensored broadcasts on Sirius Satellite Radio are going to have to wait a little while longer."
We already knew that InDemand couldn't start showing the Sirius shows untill March, thats when the price jump happens.

I got the official lowdown on some of this shit....the story is not actually accurate.

The new HOWARD STERN SHOWS that come from THE SHOW at Sirius themselves will not start until March.......the new stuff being shot now such as the Crapathon and all the old E! SHOWS will start airing on the 18th.....as for Cablevision Long Island, NY expect a January debut of the HOWARD STERN ON DEMAND SHOW.

That is all. :hw:

The original press releases said that The Sirius Shows would be held back until APRIL, hence the reason that the introductory price ended then too. Sirius had asked for the three month window to exclusively broadcast the new Show. Boots, was your source specific that the moratorium now lifts in March?

mrkrispy
11-15-2005, 09:33 PM
the irony....I called TimeWarner (san Diego) earlier today and ordered it. They said it would be available the 17th, probably got the day wrong.

If I am paying $10-13 a month for the inDemand, I will probably hold off on Sirius until they get their sh!t together...

Exactly what I was told by Time Warner in Albany NY. The on demand Sirius show will be 1 hour of the radio show...

Which basically means an uncensored version of the shitty E! show.

And the clip of Sal and Richard bugging Ronnie has been on Vagina Corner for awhile now. I don't know why he's saying how great it'll be on On-Demand

Just wondering, should I be seeing some kind of promotional stuff on my On Demand since Howard starts there in a few days?? I have Comcast Digital Cable and have been flipping through the On Demand and have seen absolutely nothing about the Howard Stern channel coming soon. I'm in a big city so I figure it would be available here.

I guess the timing for the end of the promotional pricing wasn't that random. It'll be worth the extra 5 bucks when the Sirius shows start coming on.

Nope, they seem to have dropped the ball when it comes to advertising.

Looks like H-WARD is going to have to do it all himself on THE SHOW or on shows like Letterman - he goes there this Friday doesn't he?

i dont think the E! shows on demand will be as bad as everyone is sayin. you gotta at least give it a chance...

maybe Goodstein had pressure to get ratings so he put on stupid hot chicks.... maybe with the larger catalog capacity, we will get the best of the best (like full artie in vegas, thats what im praying for friday)

but either way ill check it out this friday and then judge it

So is this March Delay still true????

DonaldFromDetro
11-16-2005, 04:07 PM
I am in Southeast Michigan... the Detroit Area... three miles north of "The Palace of Auburn Hills" which is the home of the undefeated Detroit Pistons...

I just called my local Comcast Cable service and they accepted my order for Howard Stern OnDemand effective Friday, November 18th.

It took the service rep a while to find what I was requesting, but he found it... even gave me two options... monthly at $9.99 or yearly at $109.99.

I later, on a totally different call with a different Customer Service Rep, confirmed that the order is, in fact, on my account & ready to go into effect on November 18th.

So perhaps it is true that the original article referring to a delay in the Howard Stern OnDemand until March was only referring to new original Sirius content, but that the other content begins in two days!!!

Nope, they seem to have dropped the ball when it comes to advertising.

There seems to be an arrangement to downplay the On Demand publicity to allow Sirius the spotlight first. Howard mentioned the letter from Sirius not to bring it up (though he said he still would) and we know that On Demand won't show material from the new shows until March.
