View Full Version : What kind of Sirius Radio's Do you have!?
AnfKid 12-03-2005, 02:19 PM Hey guys!!! Jan 9th is right around the corner!!
What kinda radio's do you all have?? I know most of us Sternaholics already can't live without our Craptaculars and Howard 100 News
I have the Tivoli Table radio for the kitchen and Two Starmate replay's for the car and various locations around the house. I need to get The Executive Docking station so I can mount my replay but I'll wait cuz the universal adapter that houses my radio isn't out till Jan. It only fits the older 2.5 gen sportster radios.
turdcuter 12-03-2005, 03:06 PM staremate replay
Sanyo plug and play in the house.
Kenwood in dash for the car.
LIFAN12 12-03-2005, 06:54 PM XACT StreamJockey (XTR1) and Power Pod (portable battery pack), with two Universal Kits in 2 cars
DISH Network receiver (for Music Stations only), with RF Remote.
Lush Rimbaugh 12-03-2005, 08:37 PM Starmate Replay
Carnival Man 12-03-2005, 09:24 PM XTR1 with home & car kit, the cheaper boombox & I just tried out my new Power Pod for the first time today. The Power Pod works fine, but my only complaint so far is that the flip stand doesn't cut it...you could knock it over way to easy!
baldrick5 12-03-2005, 09:41 PM S50 baby http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
AnfKid 12-03-2005, 10:07 PM Call me when the S-50 or his cousin can give me live portable. I need Stern on the run.

Yeah, the flip stand is very flimsy and mine broke just from placing it in and out of my bag after a couple of weeks. Contacted Xact to replace the stand only, but they do not sell it as a separate part.
Fortunately, it works perfectly well just lying flat.
harriet 12-04-2005, 09:44 AM Starmate Replay. I got it Circuit City with a combo home docking station, install and warranty for around $150. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I am a newbie to all this though, so I could juat have been a dweeb walking!
Alpolio 12-04-2005, 01:03 PM Xact Visor. I got it at Walmart for $48.34 back on the first week of November. I had to drive to 3 Wal-marts before I could find one. Everyone was sold out.
landrvr1 12-04-2005, 01:34 PM Just got the Sirius Starmate Replay, and can't believe how great it is... Size is perfect, the replay feature is something I've used a lot already, and that bluuuuueee light. Mmmm. Preeettty blue light. So nice. So pretty. So hypnotic. Mmmm. http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif
KMSDEMON 12-04-2005, 02:39 PM sportster replay w/ car and home docking.
i love that you can tune any radio in your house to it.
And even 50-75 feet away from the house.

I have this radio and i dont kno what you mean prolly cuz i havent tried out any of the features. I kno it has an FM tuner button on the radio but i think that is how u can listen to FM thru it in the car correct?? is that what u mean kinda?
stivhi 12-04-2005, 03:35 PM The Audiovox unit from the Stern rally last year

Both the Sportster and Starmate have the FM transmitter capability - any FM radio within range can be used as a receiver. Just find a clear frequency.

wait so yer saying the stereo in my bathroom can pick up sirius? my starmate replay is sending it a signal?
how and what station do i set it on??
sorry for the questions im still a noob to sirius
Ashley's Undies 12-04-2005, 04:17 PM You can set your unit to "broadcast" on any FM channel that you choose, you just need to pick one that is not being used in your local area. For example, mine is usually set to 88.3. You set this with on-screen settings.
My experience is that the satellite receiver must be in the same room as your FM, but others may have different experience. In part, how close your FM radio and your satellite receiver have to be to each other probably depends on how good your FM radio is.
If you had your satellite receiver in your bathroom near your radio, you would hear it there. In my house, I have the satellite unit in the living room where my FM Stereo is, but I have speakers in each room. You could run speakers from your stereo into your bathroom.
Sometimes, I bring the Power Pod into my bedroom and put it on top of the cheap clock radio and listen through it.
AnfKid 12-04-2005, 04:35 PM very cool
i tried it... shitty reception but thats way cool
im just gonna get the excecutive docking station for the bathroom and put my starmate replay there and take out the stereo in the bathroom. that's been my plan all along

Haha. That's exactly what I'm saying. It's a great feature. The radios come preset tuned to 88.1 I believe. Just go to your radio and put that station on. It should play. Interference is always a danger, you may have to fiddle a bit. Check your manual to program other stations if 88.1 is already used by local station. I'm a Noob too, and this unit is continuing to amaze...
twonabomber 12-05-2005, 03:42 AM Starmate.
it's kind of a crappy unit though, i've only had it since September and had to fix the DC jack today. i'll trade up once the mania dies down.
The Big Gunk 12-05-2005, 02:05 PM I have the PNP-2 receiver with the Audiovox Boombox that was given out at the rally last year.(Great time!)
I also picked up the car kit for it.
The Butler 12-05-2005, 04:14 PM My Sportster Replay celebrated it's one month aniversary yesterday. I love it.
FTLOSM 12-06-2005, 08:21 PM Does anyone here have a SIRBB3 boombox for their PNP3?
Considering buying one, best price I have found so far is $79 on amazon..
Curious if it sounds good or not and if anyone knows a cheaper place to get one lmk.
Bill
Dead Messiah 12-06-2005, 08:33 PM I had the Sportster Replay for a couple months (gave to mom) and just got the S50.
SternIN504 12-07-2005, 07:13 AM Could anyone please help me on picking the correct Sirius unit that will allow me to listen to the show in my home and car. I want to have the package so that I can listen to the show in my home through speakers or boombox and then take it into my car also. This shit just has me all confused as to which one to get. Thanks
harriet 12-07-2005, 02:14 PM Well I can tell you that the Starmate Replay I got, had the car docking station (the electronic store had to install it off my car radio) and I got the home set also. That one I was able to do myself.
I don't usually take the unit out of my car, but I am sure that I will start doing it over the weekends. It is a small unit and easy to learn how to use.
I got the entire set up with warranty and installation for about $150. I got the lifetime subscription and now I am done. I have really loved the whole thing from day one! Hope that helps.
arhino2 12-07-2005, 04:47 PM Getting the s50 - live in California so, by the time I leave at 8:00a.m., it will be 11:00 in NY and I will have the most of the show recorded. I would prefer that it receive, but the technology isn't there so why bother. BTW, WAY too expensive.
muhmuhmulligan 12-08-2005, 09:28 AM I have the Starmate. It has a built in FM transmitter so it can be played on my FM radio. The range is surprisingly strong. This morning I set my Sirius receiver to broadcast on 92.3 (K-Rock in NY). I then drove my wifes car and tuned HER radio in to 92.3 and picked up the Sirius signal for two blocks.
Could you imagine if everyone set their receivers to Howard's old terrestrial station in their market? Anyone tuning in to hear David Lee Roth or Adam Carrolla will have their signals interrupted with Howard-100.

HA! I love that idea!
paavo_nurmi 12-08-2005, 06:03 PM I have the crappy JVC one, I was going to wait until Jan, but after the farters were on, I got the cheapest one I could find, $50 with a car kit, the FM modulator sucks, but it's still better than normal radio. I plan on getting the S50, which is why I got the cheapest one. Do I have to pay another subsciption fee for another radio ? I plan one using one in my car and one at home.

The 2nd to 4th subscription will cost you an additional $6.99 per receiver. Many people have multiple receivers for home, car, office. You can also transfer your current subscription to another receiver when you upgrade.
I have the Starmate, with car kit, and home kit. The thing was pretty cheap, and works great. :)
nickyg 12-08-2005, 06:35 PM Starmate Replay plus home kit.

SternFanInPgh 12-10-2005, 12:30 AM I got mine today, the Sanyo on the Sirius website (currently sold out.) I can't wait to activate it but the in laws paid for it and I have to wait until Christmas! http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

When you go activate it, if you want to get up and running fast, I recommend doing it via the web rather than calling Sirius customer service. They're going to be swamped between 12/25/05(the day you open it) and 1/9/06. You want to give yourself time to set it all up, cause sometimes it can be time consuming if there's trial-and-error involved, sometimes it's a fast and quick setup. Just a "heads up". Good luck and enjoy.

Thats what I'm going to do to activate mine. Anyways, I heard you can save 5 bucks off activation if you do it via the web instead of the phone

Thanks :) I had planned on doing it online using the $5 off discount that came with it. I'm so excite, I feel like a little boy with 2 peckers... If I were a boy, but I'm not LOL ;)

Chirpy_72 12-15-2005, 07:13 PM Tivoli Model Satelite
It's a cool unit which has great Sirius and FM reception.
parkey 12-16-2005, 12:59 AM I have a reguler old Starmate (cuz it was dirt cheap at Radio Shack). I have a question, though. Does the specific receiver you have affect the quality of the feed? It seems that the quality of the music I'm getting from Sirius is surpassed by that of my local FM station. The Sirius programming almost seems like it's on AM, or like it's stuck on mono.
AZSternFan 12-16-2005, 02:05 PM Streamer GT.
$30 on Ebay w/ $30 mail-in rebate.
King Of All Chris's 12-16-2005, 06:00 PM I have a home unit Kenwood DT-7000S

how and what station do i set it on??
sorry for the questions im still a noob to sirius
you could set it to 92.3 FM if you want to! it just might be a little fuzzy. try the stations 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, & 88.9. See, I have an FM transmitter for my iPod, and those stations are very clear when I want to play music from my iPod in my car. All I do is tune both to one of those stations, usually 88.1 FM.
calismic 12-17-2005, 11:12 PM Bought my PNP3 today at Circuit City, $69.99 with a $50 mail in rebate. Came with Car Kit. Great reception! Going to pick up a home kit soon so I can listen at work. Played with the antenna out of boredom, picked up perfect reception even hiding it under the front seat of the car.
Purity Knight 12-18-2005, 12:21 AM I feel like old school SIRIUS after reading this thread. I have THE ORBITER, which is a model Sirius doesn't make anymore. I got it little more than a year ago.
skankyho 12-18-2005, 12:23 PM Just picked up the Starmate Replay from Radio Shack.. Got the car setup with the radio, and the free home kit also. I've been listening to it almost non stop.

folsomblues 12-18-2005, 11:39 PM I have a PNP1 and Starmate Replay right now, but I would like to replace the PNP1 with possibly a Sirius ready head unit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I expect better sound quality?
Snatchola 12-18-2005, 11:42 PM Got the Sportster Replay with car dock, and then went out and bought the home dock so I can to listen thru the unused FM frequency on the home stereo. All I need now is to find a decent MP3 software program to use on the computer that will
let me take the audio output of the Srius Sportster and route it into the sound card. Then I can download Howard to a MP3 file to listen to later. So far, loving it!!
Lawnboy551 12-19-2005, 07:07 AM I have 2 JVC-SR2000, for a year now, work great no problems they get alittle hot. I am getting ready to renew my subscription for 2 years to save a few bucks.
