I was getting pretty disgusted with it. It just showed me what I will miss when Howard goes off the air. As much as I love Howard, there was waaaaay to much ass kissing going on. I think the problem is that those guys on the roundtable who I respect very much are just so thrilled to be there that they are afraid to say anything negative. The beautiful thing about Howard is that he lets callers bash him and plays critical voice mail and reads horrible disgusting email. He realizes that not everyone is going to love everything he does. I do believe he was listening to the roundtable and I think it can do a disservice to his mentality to think that everyone is so far up his ass.

But then...

Joey effin Boots!

JB was the maverick of the group and he told it like it was. He said the Howard-BethO segment was kinda gay and how Howard (and dudes in general) can get feminized by having a chick around all the time. I was cracking up when he said he wears the same underwear in the absence of a woman. JB also echoed my thoughts when he said it would be gay for Howard to thank all his staff and get sentimental about them.

So, my message for Howard100 is to be better Howard fans by kissing ass less.

2 questions:

1) Is Dan Songparody Man not employed by Infinity anymore? I was surprised to hear him on Sirius.

2) H100 played a DJ Snotnose prank call to Hazel yesterday. It was the one where she had to guess what Bukkake meant to win a prize. Isn't DJ Snotnose Benjy? And if so, how is his voice allowed to be heard on Sirius?

That is and can be a problem "LeeHarvey" and I promise if I'm ever called I will keep it realer than grade A beef.

An out in out lovefest never entirely fits the shows tradition. It deviates from the ballbusting and IMO the show is ALL about the ballbusting and SOME love.

The Roundtable is bullshit. Did Howard just put it on to stroke his ego or what? Ralph is the worst.. at least JB tells it like it is.

The REAL problem is all these guys are in some full on or vague way essentially auditioning for Sirius shows and they're terrified to burn bridges and take critical shots at anything Howard in the fear that will deter Howard from hiring them.

I get it, they're all extremely grateful and loyal but it can easily turn more lemming than Turkey Hill and that never makes for good radio.

The Superfan Roundtables are getting really boring. It's the same thing, everyone agrees with eachother. The caller that actually said that Beth looked like a bimbo was yelled at by everyone and was told she was just jealous.

Maybe having a roundtable for fans isn't a good idea, especially if no one is going to have an opposing view. Why not invite some SFNers that are critical of the show, like Shamela.

I love it when callers bash Howard.

I think most people would agree with me when I say that I'd rather hear someone call up and insult Howard, instead of kissing his ass (bobo, irish jan, maryanne, double a, ralph, ...etc).

There was one day where like 10 people in a row called up and ripped Beth apart, I was rolling on the floor laughing hysterically. And on Thursday when Sal's wife made fun of Howard's outfit on Letterman, that was great radio.

Dude, this is a fucking Howard Stern message board. We're discussing the Stern show. If there are rules saying that we must only praise the show, we will. That's not the case and we are free to talk about the show. Damn commie...

There's a big difference between criticizing the show and coming up with ideas to make it better. I just think it is lame to complain, when you can't come up with a better way.

I was most disappointed in the good Rev. For cocks' sake he is the "Worlds meanest listener" yet his tongue was squarely up Howard's rectum.

what part of his inteview was not solid..he hit a homerun nothing was bad about it or i would have said it was..you fuckers cant even give him credit when he did great and your mad cause hes happy with his chick ..ahhaha get a fucking life

i thought howard did well but i don't think the piece really captured howard's genius or explained y so many people followed him for all these years. i blame the producer and bill bradely for that. it was out of stern's hands. maybe if they had dedicated more time to the segment it and less to the other bullshit stories...it would've been more encompassing. i mean really, whats more important in matters of the world...the bird flu or howard stern? :D

Howard did just fine during his part with his words.

Any of the blame for bad goes to 60 Minutes.
They wanted to do some knocking and they did.

Howard does just fine on his own show...week in and week out.

This was 60 Minutes doing a segment on Howard Stern....their style....their rules....their spin etc.

The segment was fine.....it could have been much much worse.
...and hopefully better will be done elsewhere...and it will show the 60 Minutes report for what it really was...use and abuse on all sides.

They pegged the part in Roosevelt Africa exactly as I thought they would.
I knew the spin that they were going to try....to work the visuals against the meanings to make Howard come off looking odd/foolish...confused and confusing.

i think 60 minutes could have really made howard look bad but it came off as good as it possibly could

I just got home myself,
First Off I want to thank Shuli for the invite, I will never forget what I just experienced.
To be honest I felt out of place at first, not being a show regular like the rest of the panel, im just a diehard fan, but everyone and I mean everyone was so cool, and welcomed me into the gang, I even got to hang out with Shuli, Joey, and High Pitch Erik after the show and we went to a bar to chill and kicked back a few drinks.

I got to meet people I thought I would never get to see face to face,
The complete panel, was myself, Shuli, Joey Boots, Dan the song parody man, Mutt, Billy Mira, Maryann from Brooklyn, High Pitch Erik, Hook Nose Mike and Rev Bob Levy, they were all very very cool, I was able to talk to everyone and bullshit with them before and after the show. I am truly Honored that I was included in tonight's segment. It was very very surreal, and something I will never forget.
I was also able to get a quick peek at Howard's new Studio, and I have to say it is completely state of the art, high ceilings and plasma screens throughout, and Robins new booth is like twice the size of the current one,

I didnt want to come off as a kiss ass or anything, But I truly felt that the 60 minutes piece was great, we all got to see a glimpse of Howard's youth, when we were all in the studio watching the piece, I took a look around the room and saw how captivated the rest of the panel was by the photos of Howard's old house in Roosevelt,
I know some people may feel that we were all there to kiss Howards ass, but I can assure you that we all basically felt the same way, and were very pleased with the 60 minutes segment.

Thanks again to everyone, It was truly a highlight of my life.

They pegged the part in Roosevelt Africa exactly as I thought they would.
I knew the spin that they were going to try....to work the visuals against the meanings to make Howard come off looking odd/foolish...confused and confusing.
What was worse about all of that was that it was also used
later on as a (base) way of explaining one of his drives to succeed
later on in life etc...and also on his fears etc.
They didn't back up the words with the visuals.....that is a common technique/tactic when you want to "hurt" the subject at play etc.
It plays in ways in people/s minds......like what is he talking about etc?...things seem just fine to me etc.....It's to make Howard come off as the odd/strange one etc....like he's the one with the problem etc.
This was done all throughout the segment from start to finish.

i agree with most of this, the piece was definitely skewed with an upturned nose. it becomes clear why ed bradley didn't let howard cry...i don't think he wanted howard to become too sympathetic...the treatment was clinical, both detached and invasive at once.

Howard came off great to me as a fan, but i think for the non-fan he came off as a curiosity...all traces of his actual brilliance were minimized.

That was probably the most boring interview Howard has ever done.

The 2 minutes back in Roosevelt was interesting, but thats it.

Stern was just fishing for compliments, and Ed Bradley complied by counting off every single thing that Howard has done.

zzzzzz

The article in the post was better, at least we learned about some of the other Stern network shows (live show from Nevada whorehouses, etc)

I thought the interview sort of Humanized a guy that has been demonized so much over the last few years. Considering 60 minutes audience, that is certainly a good thing.

Just goes to show you cant please evryone. The segment was way too short. Other than that it was very cool, thats how most of us felt, maybe it doesnt make for the best radio, but honestly its what we felt.... So there was the honesty.
