This is the week that Howard says goodbye to terrestrial radio. I know you'll be listening, but are you going to be there? I know that alot of first time NYC peeps are coming so I wanted to post some details to help you with your trip. Lets consider this the new official Howard's Last Day Trip thread and keep everything condensed here without lots of crap posts.

If you are coming, let us know in this thread HERE. (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83013&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)

You can find hotel information in this thread HERE. (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83987)

Howard said that members of the crew and wack pack will be addressing the crowd all morning starting at 6am. Staind will be performing the Beetlejuice Bad as Can song as well. There is even a rumor that the Backside Boys will reunite for a song. Jeff the Drunk will be singing New York, New York. Who knows what else will go down. Should be fun.

UPDATE: 56th Street will be closed down between 5th & 6th Ave. Security will start letting people in a 5AM. There will be a stage where guests can address the crowd and the bands will play. The show will start at 8AM. The wackpackers will be first. Beetlejuice will announce Staind who will perform the Beetle Song. Next up will be Howard's family. Then the staff will hit the stage and Howard will be last. The stage will be closed and the road will be re-opened at 10AM. There may be additional activities afterwords but these have not been announced yet. As soon as we know more, you'll know it.

UPDATE 12-15-05: After the rally, members will be meeting up at the Hard Rock in Times Square. If there's a problem getting in there, the alternate location is the ESPN Zone across the street. There will be a live round table at the ESPN Zone so be there!!

As of right now they are calling for snow Thursday and rain Friday. Keep your fingers crossed and keep an eye on the NYC weather. (http://www.weather.com/weather/local/10019?lswe=10019&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&from=whatwhere) Hopefully it gets better.

If you are coming, let us know. If you hear about more VIPs who will be there, fill us in.

Howard Stern Building - 40 West 57th St between 5th and 6th

Sirius Studios @ The McGraw Hill Building - 1221 Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Ave) between 48th & 49th

What time do bars close in NY? I'm coming from Seattle and will be there around midnight Thursday, just wanting to spend a night walking around and hitting up bars.

I fear sounding like a total queer with this post but this is an idea I have been kicking around for a bit. At the show we'll be able to all party together which is cool, I admit. But I assume the party will not end at 10am.

So, here's my idea. Everyone should wear an armband to easily identify each other throughout the day while partying around. I would suggest a yellow band with "HS100" written on it. Worn on the left arm.

spenttissue....if you're coming from philly, i'd take the train. hop on at 30th street, and take it right into manhattan. the price is super cheap, and you won't have to worry about parking places and costs, tolls, and traffic jams. i'm hopping the NJ Transit train to go to Trenton, and then transferring to a NY bound train.

morale of the story, don't bother driving to manhattan.

Im coming from philly to and dont wanna risk it so we are taking the train from 30th to penn station. Pretty sure penn station is pretty close the the studio. Think The train is 40 or 80 round trip. Not bad considering gas and parking, and not to mention we will be drinking so it gives us time to sober up on the way home.

"Pretty sure penn station is pretty close the the studio."

Penn Station is in the low 30s (near the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden), the Infinity Building is on 57th, so you're looking at ~25 blocks. Walkable, but most people would probably take a cab. I'm taking the Metro North into Grand Central (42nd) and walking up to 57th... 15 blocks isn't bad at all.

I know taking NJ Transit from Trenton is 14 bucks round trip, so I think your thinking too high... hey better deal for you. I would plan on taking THE earliest train there is, it gets pretty packed, although you guys will be one of the first to actually get on the train. Anyone else coming from Philly should not even think about driving up there, its going to be a mess. Peace and Have a Blast.... wish I was not working the night before... still trying to switch with someone to get it off wish me luck!!!

This will be my first time in NYC and I appreciate the thread.

1. Just a warning- according to their website Scores enforces a dress code. If you are flying in only with clothes suitable for hours of inclimate weather, as I am, don't bother going. Maybe I'll just "hit the booths."

2. I thought Howard talked about Blues Traveller and maybe Train showing up.

3. I have emailed George Takei through his website to request that he show up. He is done with that play about Horses.

4. I have a dumb question. I'm getting a sign printed up at a print shop, but will need to rubber cement it to foam board. I don't think I'm going to be able to carry on foam board on the plane. Is there a place I could walk to from near Times Square to buy a big peice of foam board?

It's only about a ten-minute walk as long as you don't stop to look up at every tall building. :)

And cabs may have a hard time getting close to the Howard Stern Building that morning.

That is not a dumb question. I say, make the sign ahead of time and fed ex it or DHL it to your hotel. That would be the easiest thing to do and I doubt is would cost much money. You just need to wrap it up in some sort of mailing paper, you could take it to one of those mailing places, a parcel place or whatever, and they would probably bubble wrap it and put some kind of mailing quaility paper around it a stick a "handle with care" label on it and you'd be good to go! What's the prize for best sign??? I think my idea, even if it winds up costing you 20 or 30 bucks would be well worth it. It saves you the aggrivation of having to deal with it once you get to the city.

If you do decide to bring it one the plane and then finish gluing it to the foam board once you get to town, there is a place called Pearl Art supplies on Canal Street in China Town that would have the foam board in lots of sizes. I am assuming you are gonna pack the glue and bring it with.

That's a good idea, but my stuff won't be printed until wednesday and I might not have time to ship it. I just called an Office Depot that is about .5 mile from my hotel and they said they have foam board.
My only plan for Thursday was to just kind of walk around anyway.

Actually I have 4 signs (2 double sided ones)
I wanted to go 24 x 36 but I went down to 20 x30 as that is a very common size of foam board.

Should I bring a walkman or transistor radio to listen to the show that morning, or will someone be blasting the show from speakers for everyone outside to hear?

Just got back from lunch everyone with one of the followers of the clones. Apparently he was gloating about something dopey and unfunny "breaking News" about Howard getting fired Thursday, and then saying how they out scooped him with something at the Hard Rock Cafe?

I swear, I almost left him with the entire bill for lunch since I was ready to walk out. But he is a friend, and needs to be brought back down to reality.

Growing crowd taking train from DC to NYC for the party. Our return train doesn't leave Penn Station until around 10:00pm Friday night. Will there be any parties/events continuing after Howard's gig?? We thought of doing the NY tourist thing and perhaps checking out Scores (although dress code, high cover, expensive dances add up to a NO vote). But we would much rather keep a good buzz going with our fellow brothers and strippers ..uh, I mean sisters. Anybody hear of plans or got any ideas???

Hey, for those living in new york and have been to scores, what are the prices like there? Is it just like any other strip club, $10-20 cover charge, and live $40 for a dance? Thinking about possibly going there since its said to be the best in NY, just wondering how much money I should bring with me to the city.

Welcome to New York. While you are here you will probably see a full fledged Transit strike. That means the busses & trains will not be running.

Be sure to bring weatherproof shoes since there is a wintery mix starting Thursday night and ending Friday morning.

For those of you who can't afford scores, there are still some Live Girls who will gladly take your money on 8th avenue north of the Port Autority Bus Terminal (42nd-50th)

Yes, the buildings are tall. When you are looking up, please hold on to your wallet.

Don't walk around with an open container. Don't plan on a cookout. Again, this is NYC, not a face painting smackdown with alleged kid toucher Gary Glitter providing the soundtrack.

How are they really going to control what time a massive crowd of thousands shows up. I'm driving in Thursday evening, getting to NYC around mindnight. Not wasting any cash on a hotel, just plan to get a good buzz going (to keep warm) and meet some fellow stern fans out front of the studio.

If you're looking to meet up with a fellow SFN member, I'll be the guy with the lime green middle finger sign (FU FCC) and a Grey T-Shirt with the Howard 100 Fist Logo on the front. If I have any Jack left by the time you find me, we'll do a shot together.

Three things.

1. Anyone have any insights to the logistics of the march. I guess I'm asking if you end up somewhat close to the stage will you end up being at the ass end of the march?

2. They not going to let us congregate thursday night then? I'm still planning on getting there around midnight, maybe hit a bar close by the station and hang out by the "blockade" with the rest of the crazy's till they finally let us in at 5:00.

3. Any additional info on the suprise he keeps mentioning? I've heard anything from a free lunch, concert, some sort of a buffet style walk through to greet & sign type deal.

Brush with Benjy

With all the hoopla around about Brush with Stern I have to share mine.

A number of years ago I was in NYC for the day while my wife was in a meeting I was walking around town. I was walking through central park when I saw a coupld of guys with a tape recorder and microphone going up to people asking questions and getting turned away. They came up to me and asked if they could ask me a few questions for "??? Radio". I knew it was for Howard and agreed.

They wanted to let me know that the coming Sunday was National Vagina Day and wanted to know how I would spend the day. I was dying laughing but gave them some great responses. and kept up the dialogue with them for several minutes.

Well that's my closest Brush with Stern.

Hubcap626

they said today that the police would re-open the road at 10, which I find hard to beleive. Is Stern really going to march down to sirius? In doing so, they would defently have to close other roads, just wondering if this is going to be allowed. They havnt mentioned anything about that just that they will be giving speaches in the middle of the street.

And it looks like its going to rain =(

We should pick a backup bar that we could get together at after the event. I'm thinking one of the bars in times square like the hard rock or planet hollywood. the hard rock might be larger. everyone would be able to find a times square bar.

If I had to guess I'd say that they were told not to host something because of the logistical nightmare of thousands of fans streaming from KRock to Sirius and the havoc that would likely create. But I agree it does suck. I was looking forward to Sirius upstaging the KRock event. Oh well.

STAIND To Close Out HOWARD STERN's Final FM Broadcast - Dec. 14, 2005

STAIND will be the sole musical guest on Howard Stern's final traditional radio broadcast, slated for Friday, December 16. The group will perform on 56th Street in Manhattan, outside the studios of radio station K-Rock (WXRK). Stern and his show will move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January.

A longtime STAIND fan and friend, Stern invited the band to create their own rendition of "The BeetleJuice Song" — originally performed on the show by frequent guest BeetleJuice. STAIND debuted their original acoustic arrangement of the song on "The Howard Stern" show this past summer. A recording of that live performance is included on the new limited-edition CD/DVD of STAIND's current album, "Chapter V". Entitled "This Is Beetle" aka "The BeetleJuice Song", it was written by Lester Green (aka BeetleJuice) and composer Richard Christy (former DEATH/ICED EARTH drummer and current Stern sidekick).

That same night, December 16, STAIND will headline the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, presented by K-Rock. The show is part of the band's current "Fall Brawl" cross-country tour, which also features Atlantic labelmates P.O.D. and TAPROOT, plus Texas rockers FLYLEAF.

The just-released limited edition CD/DVD version of "Chapter V" features the entire original album, plus five bonus tracks — including an acoustic version of "It's Been Awhile" and "This Is Beetle". The bonus DVD features a full band documentary, plus extras including the "Right Here" video, two songs filmed live, bonus interviews, and outtakes. The deluxe package includes a 36-page book featuring the lyrics to all STAIND songs, a photo history of the band, and liner notes.

im pretty sure, wherever you go there will be tons of stern fans. Im assuming there will be 5,000+ people there for the madness. Guess top 2 choices will be hard rock and espn, considering both can hold a lot of people.

Yea, just saw heavy reain and showers up until 10am...Then light rain up until about Noon. But bring a umbrela, a rain coat or even a poncho, get off the street asap once the speaches are done, and head to the nearest bar and start the partying.

im not getting ther until 730-8am. Im coming from outside philly so its not exactly a short trip down the highway. Im going to drive to trenton with 2 other people and take the train from trenton to ny, so that will give us some time to do some pre-game drinking so we dont have to risk having any alcohol on the street. But we are planning to stay in NY until 10-11pm that night. Not sure where everyone is going, read hard rock, or espnzone, but im sure we will be bar hopping the entire time.

What time are you getting there?

Hopefully they'll come to their senses about the strike and if they can't come to an agreement at least agree to postpone the strike until after Christmas in order to not effect the city too much. I guess that makes too much sense though and the workers will want the maximum impact for their actions.

Does anyone know the best way to get from Chinatown (Chrystie & Hester St. intersection) to the Howard Stern Building by public transportation?

Assuming there's not a transit strike - Get on the 6 Train at Canal and 4th Ave - make sure the train you get on is going toward Uptown/Bronx - also get a subway map at the Station (you'll have to buy a Metro card anyway). Get off the Train at 59th Street and walk south 3 blocks and west 3 blocks and you're there. Enjoy! Wish I could be there...

First let me say I am NOT trying to be negative - I've spent a lot of money to be here and cover this event, (far more than I can get paid for some photos and even that's not for sure). From an "inside" point of view there's just something wierd going on with this event. I started calling to get my press pass over a week ago and was told they would send out details by Thursday. Called today and was referred to a different agency and told they did not know "which way this was going to go". I hope it goes as planned, apparently getting into the press area is a dead deal but I plan to cover the FANS regardless, which was the large part of the plan anyway. I look forward to capturing most of you in hopefully compromising positions. :P

The day Howard 100/ 101 day-viewed, I found out we coulndt get OUR show! This sux. Ive called Sirius over and over again and complained. They said they wont broadcast the show because it is not commercial free.

Im not sure if it makes a difference or not, but anyone out there who has the same problem/ complaint should email/ call Sirius and tell them to broadcast the King over the net! I wished I worked in my car but I dont. Im going to have to quit my job just to listen to the show!

i was heading out but i didnt want to miss 45 minutes of the show on the subway...stupid me i didnt leave early enough. looks like a typical stern mobscene, like those lunatic book signings or the fuck the fcc rally in dag hammersold plaza. i just sat home, cracked a beer, and reveled in watching howard move on to the next level. now, we the people need to start trading old shows... i cant beleive that all that kinison, rodney, ted the janitor, joey ramone, sandy corn, amy lynn and yes even gilbert gotfried stuff will be lost forever. lots of those guys are gone and the tapes are a righteous part of their legacy. but today all i could think was "way to go, howard, you deserve it". it was actually kind of emotional, but i guess we can get all sappy later on. i cant wait to get to the other side now.

This is a tribute post::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Did anyone catch Howard getting "emotional" in the studio. It was just after Fred had left to go down to the crowd. Robin had just said that it was just hitting her that it was coming to an end. Howard actually got chocked-up. Am I the only one that caught that?? I caught it several times. It happened when only he and Robin were left in the studio, it happened again when he mentioned his duaghters in the studio, and it happened one last time when he was outside thanking everyone......

Howard, I love you man.... been listening for 25 years (since you were on "eeeeenn b ceee" (unlike most of the wack-packers). I was listening when you and "pig virus" had that VERY unforgettable moment on the air. I was only 11 then (my parents didn't know I was listening), but I was, and remember it well.

I've called well over a hundred times to say "hi" but never got through (Stuttering John was a real bastard about letting people through).

Long time, (never) first time, hey now u hooked-nose jew bastard, f jackie, Gilbert Gottfried as the vampire/pope rules, Eric Norris cracking his head open at a strip bar, Fa-Fa-Floely's 9-1-1 call, Gary mispronouncing Ba-Ba-Louie's name (hence Ba-Ba-Booey, may truly be one of the top 3 moments on the show), Robin's annal sex-a-pade over a sink, Artie's wheelchair tiraid involving a Soprano's star, f jackie, Stuttering John never paying for a meal (but what incredible interviews), Ralph's...... (nevermind, hasn't contributed jack to the show except to clean your underwear), oooooowe-gaahhhhh (haven't been able to hear that in over 10 years), f jackie, Sal's "Mark David Chapman" obsession with you (be careful!), Fa-Fa-Flunky getting fired on-air well over 20 times for incompitence, The Belzer sitting in on The News, Fred's HYSTERICAL scene in Private Parts where he wants-in on the bathtub situation in his boxers, Robin ripping Jackie to shreds on NUMEROUS occasions (did I mention F Jackie), Ma-Ma-Monkey and wife (very lovely, nothing bad to say there) getting stoned in Amsterdam, Richard's family Thanksgiving dinner (frog legs jumping out of pan!!!!), Private Parts soundtrack!!!, Jackie's one-liners on a piece of paper (that we could hear you crumpling after delivering), Fred's incredible ability to play an appropriate soundeffect within a millisecond, Robin's breasts (I love you Robin. 25 years of listening has made me a true fan of yours. It's obvious that you are a good and caring person that can "step-it-up" and rip someone to pieces when need be. Do recent listeners even know that you have your own "section" in the studio because of Howard's farts? Most of them are probably too young). F Jackie. Fred's excellent accustic guitar playing and masterful impressions (Gay partner (oooowe-gaaaaa!), Kurt Voltime, Imus, and many, many more!). Jackie's return (hope to see you on eh, eh, eh Jackie!, F Jackie (we love you)! I haven't mentioned you much here Howard. Reason: You really do need no ass-kissing for your accolades, but I'll give them anyway. Your contribution to ENTERTAINMENT is tremendous! "King-of-all-Media" is truly the appropriate term. Ground-based radio, tv, ppv, books, movies, video & dvd, cable tv & satelite tv and now satelite radio. There truly is no entertainer/show that has transcended EVERY medium like you. VIVA LA STERN!!!, and I hope this message finds it's way to you and the rest of the group!

We truly are a big disfuntional family! Viva la Stern!!! The looks on the faces non stern fans walking on the sidewalks and looking at us all barricaded in standing in the pouring rain, was priceless!! They just couldnt understand. Cudos to the NYPD, and all the local eateries, for letting us use the bathrooms. Ah, OK. on the westside, er East of Los Angeles, Chota means cop. Back in the 60s and 70s, you couldn't say fuck the cops, so the Chicanos said fuck the chota.

My wife and I flew up from Orlando Thursday night to go to the rally. Susan's a complete Stern nut. She's been listing to him for years. Her birthday was on Saturday and this is what she wanted to do. We stayed at the New Yorker Hotel down by Madison Square Garden. We didn't get in until late Thursday and didn't go to bed until 1:00 since we were watching the news to see if the transit strike was going to happen. Woke up around 4:00 to see, thank God, the strike was postponed. I guess we didn't really wake up since we both hardly slept. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. We hopped in a cab at 4:45 and got up to the line around 5. Me being the dipshit I am, I left the umbrella in the hotel room so we got drenched. There was about 300 people when we got there. They started letting people in around 5:30. We got screwed because they had some funky baracade system where you thought you were going forward only to go back to get in. That sucked!!

Oh well, we were pretty close anyway. We started to think about leaving when it really started to come down around 6. Thankfully we stayed. We listened to the show on a radio I brought. They started playing the show over the loudspeakers around 6:30 I think but we could hardly hear it over the crowd. Things started to get going around 8 when the speeches started. Favorite moments where when everyone was making fun of John the Stutterer and Richard and Sal gaying it up. When Howard's mom was on stage, I shouted, "Rae, take my temperature!!" I also wished cancer on all the press assholes that were on the riser blocking our view.

We saw Doug from the E! show wondering around with a camera so we called him over. He was doing something for CBS news he said. Later on, we found out that he was working for the local CBS station and Susan was on the 7:00 news. Awesome! We talked about her b-day and how we traveled from Florida. I guess we were a good interview because someone from Howard100 came up to us shortly after. I looked at his badge and saw that it was Mike Piazza. He asked if we wanted to be on the show. Of course we did!!! So we talked into his cell phone. I assume we were live? Can anyone confirm?

Afterwards, we continued though the speaches. Artie was frekin awesome. Robin's speech was really good. Then, right before Howard came on, I got really nervous. I've never been to one of these things before. I didn't know what the crowd would do. I thought we'd be crushed under a rush of people towards the stage. To my surprise, everyone was really cool and just enjoyed the moment. The sun coming out when Howard did was really freaky. Susan even started to cry when she saw Howard. That was until some bitch got up on someone's shoulders in front of us. I got seriously pissed and pushed my way though the crowd. I started pulling on the back of her jacket trying to tell her to get down. If that bitch is on here, F-you! Finally, she got down and I retreated to my spot.

Everyone was super cool and I talked to a lot of great fans. We were completely soaked and worn out. We took a cab back and didn't stop at the Hard Rock. Wanted to but we were really tired. I'm still recovering. Thanks again to Howard for making our year complete. Can't wait until 1/9/06. I'm going through withdrawl already.

Here are some of my lame-ass pics.

That's a plenty close enough shot of Sal and Richardin their skivvies.... Howard should sponsor Sal and Richard and maybe a couple of women to run in next year's Speedo Santa Run in Boston...

I was busy up in Canada, Fernie specifically and it was cold! But it was nice. I was in bed with a hot Canadian broad, fucking her and using a condom, but the cunt didn't like Howard so I fucked her and kicked her out. My buddies fucked her in their rooms. I saw Stern on Yahoo and it was pretty fun http://www.SternFanNetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

Well, the last rally was organized by Howard. He had to get a permit and stuff. If too many people show up that day the cops would probably break it up if there's no permit. Sounds cool to me though. Maybe someone can contact Fa-Fa-Flunky somehow and let him know. You should start a new thread about it and see what kind of response there is from everyone.

Nice Fred .gif you got there....
