This is a really good point. It brings me to another quetion. WHen Howard first announced his deal with Sirius he mentioned that he was going to be programming 5 channels, not 2. 5. Maybe this is down the line, here's my concern, as a West Coaster about the situation. I have a funny feeling that really Howard will only be programming 1 channel and channel 101 will end up being 3 hour delay 24 hours a day. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Bottom line here is I think this is all going to be a work in progress and it's going to be a lot of trial and error. However, Sirius and Howard are missing one massive element here. A vast number of Howard fans (and HOward fans with $$) listen to him in their offices. Sirius and HOward need to get their shit together, and fast, regarding getting him on the net. It is impossible for about 75% of people attempting to listen to Sirius, in their offices, to achieve a signal. There is no reasonable excuse for Sirius to not stream Howard's show. Sirius can already attribute about 1.5 million new subscribers directly to HOward's arrival. I'd guess that about 20% of those subsciribers had designs on listening to him online. He even mentioned that it would be possible when he announced the deal. Anyway, personally I was shocked when I signed up for Sirius to find out I wouldn't be able to stream his show. THis is a major issue he and Sirius are going to need to tackle. After that, then he should worry about all the other programming

Whoa, don't know if you've been hitting the pipe or what, but it's always been two or three channels. It was said even early on that two were definite and the third was possible.

101 may be mostly a delayed 100 at first, but Howard and Tim Sabean have made many comments about them being separate content. 100 is for the first run of Howard's show, the news, and all the spinoff shows of his universe. 101 is to be a lineup of jocks selected by Howard, but of course all we know about so far is Howard's PST feed and Bubba.

Howard and Sabean have made comments about big deals they can't reveal yet, but I can't imagine why the time to let them out wasn't during Howard's media blitz. At this point, I wonder if they haven't secured the type of talent they were hoping to yet, and the channels will be added to over time.

I think Howie assumed that he could somehow use his old tapes and one channel would be a Best Of channel. Now he is going to have to fill up two channels...48 hours a day of programming, so he'll probably have to hire some more people.

He will certainly repeat some shows during the day to take up time, but he'll have to get lots more programming as well.

The streaming issue is a very good point. I too was under that impression and then found out quickly that it wasn't the case. It woould make it a lot easier than always having to hook up the Starmate. Especially when it's raining. I hate putting the antenna outside in bad weather.

While I wish we could get streaming audio of the Channel from sirius.com, the reasons for this not being the case seem..reasonable. What those reasons were I don't remember, but it made sense at the time.

I agree, I listen to nothing but old shows on plane rides and during the lull b4 siruis and the announcements were for 3 channels, then changed to 2 with no explaination that I heard anyway.

I hope they get Phil Hendrie on one of the Stern channels. That guys show is great stuff and he's always been cool to Howard on the air.

I don't know how Phil Hendrie would do on satellite. He has the second best radio show out there (after Howard), and he's fantastic. But he relies on unsuspecting people to callin, not knowing it's a goof. If he's on one of Howard's stations, I don't think all those gullible people will fall for it.

I seem to remember Howard saying the third channel may even be a pay channel but it would be comming sometime after he gets started as Sirius.

I hope Howard swallows his pride and offers Infinity some money for his tapes. Then he could make a Best Of pay channel. People would pay for it, and he would come out with a profit.

What i thought would be a funny premise would be have King on 100 and simultaniously have Angry on 101 and have to call in on each other and goof on the others programs, guests, whatever. Get Fred to put together a dueling banjoes, um, err, dueling blacks song parody with Daniel Caver in the background to introduce each program. I think they're great when they argue with each other, it's mainly when they get along that they suck.

I was given the boom box as a xmas present and I'm returning to work tomorrow to see if I can get a signal. Given that I've always been able to listen to the whole show at work and on line streaming seems to be a no go for now, I'm gonna be mighty pissed if all I see tomorrow morning is "acquiring signal".
