Since Bubba is going to be on a Howard station who is going to listen and support him? Howard wouldnt have hired him if he thought he sucked. I will be listening.

Yeah i will give it a listen. Most don't seem to think that neds calls are funny but i do, i assume he will play his old stuff. I need something to listen to in the afternoons so i am sure to tune in.

Nope. Nothing I've heard in his promo's and profiles on the news had appealed to me. I just don't get his vibe.

I'll listen at first, if I like I'll keep going.

I can listen to most talk show. Just have to keep the conversation flowing. But none make me laugh out loud, or sit in my car not getting out till a commercial like the KOAM.

Not sure what I'm going to do now that there are no/less commercials. I think I am going to be much less productive.

No matter what, Bubba the love sponge (gotta just change that name to Bubba) is going to be 1000% better than DLR or all the other dickweeds that are on FM

I'm kinda dissapointed he isnt on earlier, since he is on 101 which is pacific time he wont start here for me till 4pm and I dont really get a chance to listen much after 3:30 or some. But being able to here Howard is the most important part.

Bubba was great in the late nineties, early 2000's.....the only thing I ever hated is that he badmouthed Howie......he's a different kind of cat.....but he pulled some crazy ish back in the day....Howard is going to come out of this deal smelling like a fresh picked rose...(he prolly was anyway...lol!)

Rover is trying too hard....I listened to him a little today and they had this guy get a filling in his tooth drilled out....it was OK radio but it made my mouth hurt listening.....

If I wanted to go to a dentist I would make an appointment....but at least Rover has been very respectful of Howard and looks up to him.......alot of folks (DLR) feel they need to take shots at him or just act like he doesn't exist.....

Thank GOD Monday is so close.....I miss the guys!!

I'll probably sample Bubba the Love Sponge's first couple of shows, but I don't expect to respond well to it.

The only stuff that I've heard of Bubba is what they've been playing on the channels since September, but I'm pretty sure that Mr. Sponge's southern fried humor will not be to my taste. I think Howard branded Bubba correctly during the Larry King interview when he pronounced Bubba's aesthetic "redneck".

From all available evidence, that seems to be a pretty fair assessment and that kind of sensibility is not anything that I can really relate to (along with stuff like country music, NASCAR, hunting, George Bush, etc).

I'm sure there's an audience out there for Bubba, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not it.

Still, on the chance that I'm wrong, I will sample his show. I just hope he's not as irritating as Mojo Nixon...

There is no fucking way I will listen to him.. No Howard Rip Off's (Bubba Love Sponge). Original's are always better(Howard Stern). I also don't think he(Bubba, or Ned) should be getting covered on H100 News either. I just want to know about Howard Show.

saturninus
01-06-2006, 09:02 PM
I'll listen to his first show.

I seem to vaguely recall that Howard was talking negatively about Bubba around the time he got pulled from ClearChannel, but I could be wrong. Is that the case?

I've never heard of Bubba and I really don't know what to expect.

I agree totally. Gotta give the guy a chance at least...Everything I dont get to catch live each day I will be recording by Feb 13th (my birthday) when I get my S50 with Home Dock..

P.S - Does anyone know if it would be possible to transfer Howard's Shows from my S50 to my computer using the Monster High Performance USB cable??...Or anything else for that matter? Gotta find a way to save all his shows and everything else on the channel on the seperate hard drive I bought for it...Thanks for any help ;)

I’ve never really heard Bubba before so I will listen to him. I’m actually looking forward to his show. It sucks he might be losing Ned but life goes on. As for Bubba being branded Redneck humor then so be it. I’m all up for it as long as the show is not all about wrestling.

I hope he is better than than the little of him I have heard. He speaks way to fast and interrupts people before they complete an answer to his questions. I also am trying to have faith in Howard's opinions. Maybe he saw something in Bubba that I haven't yet

I'll give him a listen. Don't expect too much. As it stands, the ONLY reason I listened to FM radio anyways was Howard. Howard's gotta see something in him, right? With all the talent that is surely beaten at Howards door (I'm sure he's got a stack of demo tapes) Why Bubba? BTW, what ever happened to Ricki Rackman. I use to listen to that guy in Los Angeles and I remember Howard thinking he was good. As a matter of fact, I think Howard called him "The Prince Of All Media" Maybe I was high. :D

I've listened to Bubba when he was in FL. He was decent, for a wannabe.
Sure, he copied Howard and trashed him a little on the air, but everybody copies Howard. So, I'll either listen to Howard's replays or Bubba.

Bubba is about as bad as they come. I tried listening to him in his very short stint in CT and he was terrible. Bubba's mic is ridiculously over-modulated, which makes it tough to listen to him from the start. He always talks about and calls Hulk Hogan because it's the one pseudo-celeb he knows, so he kisses his ass. Bubba is one of the truly bad Stern impersonators who trashed Howard more than just 'a little' in the past. I was shocked and floored when he was hired. I know some of it was b/c of decency issues, but I'd guess no one would pick him up because he's got no talent.

Howard on Larry King Live said Bubba appeals to rednecks. I agree.

I don't get the whole Bubba thing. The last thing Howard 100 needs is a bunch of Southern rednecks and their closet hypocritic right-wing mindsets. They're the type of people who go to stripclubs on Saturday night, go to church on Sunday, vote conservative Republican on Monday (because of morality [vomits]), screw their girlfriends on Tuesday, take their kids from their second and third marriages to football or cheerleader practice on Wednesday, and then go to the Klan rally on Thursday night.

No thanks. This Yankee is Howard 100 24/7, or if there are other shows I can relate to on Howard 101. Otherwise no Bubba the Hick for me.

Dr. Bombay
01-07-2006, 10:21 AM
I don't get the whole Bubba thing.

I'm perfectly capable of being wrong about the timing, but I seem to recall that the signing of Bubba came fairly quickly on the heels of Howard's big Sirius announcement back in October of 2004.

At that time, Howard indicated that the hiring of Bubba (and the projected eventual signing of other radio personalities who had been persecuted by the FCC) was as symbolic as it was strategic.

However...that was prior to the third channel going away, prior to the creation of Howard 100 News, prior to Howard filling his now-famous black book with a ton of new concepts and show ideas.

A lot has happened with Howard, his support infrastructure and his channels since the end of 2004. It now appears that Howard and his team could easily fill up Howard 100/101 with nothing but Howard-centric, Howard-produced programming, all reflecting Howard's sensibility.

I wonder...if Howard knew then what he knows now, would Bubba still have himself a place in the universe that is Howard Stern?

I live in the Tampa area, so I've been able to listen to Bubba through out his carear. And I question the judgement of Stern in hiring him.

Bubba has the ability to create funny radio, but he has absolutely no timing. So what was a really funny bit for 4 minutes will drag on, and on, and on, for about 45 minutes, on the same joke.

He's vulgar purely for the sake of being vulgar. It's not natural.

And he's not humble. He's self-promoting and self-important on the air.

Granted, he's not exactly a Stern clone like O&A (who even deliver jokes like Howard in the early 90s) or Ron and Fez started out (like Bubba, also from Tampa), I've never been able to listen to Bubba for very long or very frequently.

bige
01-07-2006, 10:56 AM
From what I've heard of him on Raw Dog and Maxim, he is very vulgar for no reason, and he is really a disrespectful person. He was talking really nasty to Jessica Shimel for no real need. But I want to give him a try.
I dont think he is going to last though, he is going to do something really stupid thats going to get his ass fired. Cause he doesnt know how to draw a line.

The thing I can't stand about Bubba is the way he describes his show in interviews. It's always like this: "We have a lot of girls, lots of parody elements, some opinions on politics...I represent the working man blah, blah, blah" That's a verbose way of saying "I do the exact same thing as Howard" I'll check the show out on Mon but I'm not expecting to be impressed.

no man, while he does appeal to red necks, they are in no way conservative in the bad ways. Yeah, they support capital punishment, kick an arab's ass for 9-11, and all that shit...but they don't like the FCC nor do they like the administration spying on us. Bubba is fine. He has locker room humor which is exactly why I like Howard.

Bubba's show helps put convicts behind bars. He has a sort of "America's Most Wanted" but for Tampa's woman beaters and child molestors.....and gets a few now and then.

He has almost won Pinellas County Sheriff's job because he had great views. The reason he didn't win was because of the CRAZY views he had on strippers. His "Tits for Toys" has raised a shiot load of toys for kids the past 10 years.

he's a good guy with a cruel show....that's it. His fans are southern Stern fans.

Really the only reason I like Stern more is because he gets better guests.

It's too bad Opie and Anthony are at XM, I would love to hear them on Howard 100 or 101. I think they are funny as hell!

I'll probably listen to him once... If he's smart he'll stir some shit up with the Stern staff to get some cross over listeners...

But really, I can't wait for Cabbie to get outta jail... I'm sure Howard will give him a job there... I can't wait to here some of those stories!

I've already set the timer to record his show, but I don't know how long that'll last... we'll see

I just can't deal with the name "Bubba the Love Sponge." It's just so schlocky and and dumb and for me represents all of the lame immatators.

i think i'll listen.. i really know nothing about the guy- only what i heard on h100, so i'm intersted to see what his show will be like. i hope it's good, because i want a mid-day show to listen to on h100. i haven't found anything mid-day i like on sirius except for music and stuff like that. maybe i just haven't looked hard enough...

Those promos for Bubba's show with the Eminem song aren't winning me over. I thought they'd put a little bit more into the promo bits to win over Howard's fans, but I guess they just figure Bubba's audience will come, and all of us will probably give it a shot because of Howard.
