I have Sportster replay with the boombox and no roof access. For some reason when I put it outside of the window or hang it out further I get no signal. Inside the room a few feet I get signal but a periodical dropout. Sometimes I have to move it a foot or so and sometimes I don't.

There isn't much of a ledge and I'm wondering if anybody has reception tips. Is there a better antenna than the one that comes standard?

Here is my antenna placement (I have two home docks).

I live just north on Pittsburgh, and my house faces due south, so as per Sirius' suggestion page, I placed the antenna on the east wall.

I get 2 bars part of the day, and 3 the rest. Not perfect, but no drop outs, so I'm happy.

Hope this helps.

I'll check that way out, bro. Tonight I'm going to move it around alot and see where the best spot would be.

Where did you find this "suggestion page"? I can't find anything on Sirius.com about antenna placement. Seems that my car antenna (can't find home kits anywhere) works the best facing north, but they apparently suggest east?

You can use the outdoor antenna by Terk:

I will be purchasing one of them when they are in stock.

can you attatch the antenna to something like an L-bracket and attach the bracket to the ledge?

if you are in pittsburgh, they should be facing west

Yea, I meant to put WEST, but I had a brain freeze and put EAST. I tried to edit the message, but I guess I have to pay for that privilege on this board.

i was hoping that's what you meant... you did such a nice job with the installation, would suck to have to rip them down!

i duct taped mine to my tv sattelite dish & that seems to be working pretty well..

I temporarly mounted them there for a few days to test the signal BEFORE I screwed them to the wall as you see in the pics.

2 bars sometimes, 3 bars the rest, and periodically, 1 bar.
