View Full Version : If Ned really is Manson - cheesy as hell

That voice is so fake sounding that it immediately raises suspicion. I really hope they're not that cheesy.

Sounds fake as hell -

His show has been okay with me so far - and pulling some bullshit like that is lame in my opinion.

That would make perfect sense.

Say "Ned" doesn't join the show until Bubba et al get back to their home studio in Tampa. As long as they are up in New York, "Ned" has to be absent because he's a fictional character. But back at home, everyone's in on the hoax, so I bet "Ned" comes to his senses after the week is up.

"The truth is out there."

Yeah, it does sound kind of fake, but the photo looks even more fake. I mean it's obviously a real guy, but he almost looks like someone in a fake beard or trying to be a "character".

From the call on Bubba's show yesterday, it sounds like Ned is just holding out for more money, and I doubt he'd get it, so if he does "come back" to the show, the whole thing was probably fake.

Bubba is more entertaining than I thought he would be though. He is like a Crazy Cabbie, but with talent and a decent personality. I don't know if I'll listen to his show every day, but I will probably check it out from time to time.

I sure don't care about Hulk Hogain though and it sounds like he calls in every day, which seems pointless. Oh well, not everyone can be Howard, but Bubba has made me chuckle a couple of times so props to him for that at least.

To bring that hoax to the Stern show and to his fans is very lame. Howard kind of just says "you know what to do" and doesn't comment much about him so it makes me think he feels that it is cheesy.

I don't know anything about the rumor. I didn't know anything about Bubba pre-H100/H101. Some of those Ned calls were very entertaining during the News.

I heard a small bit of yesterday's Bubba show. That bit with Ned and Bubba having phone sex had me in stitches! I had tears streaming down my face and could barely see the road in front of me. It was hilarious!

I couldn't agree more. The entire reason I love the Stern show is that everything is natural and fluid and honest. This Bubba seems indicative of everything I hate about morning radio shows.

...Or maybe, just maybe, Bubba realizes that real audiences wouldn't fall for that schtick and is using a "contract holdout" as a way to phase the character out from the show without admitting he was fake all along.

My very first thought when I heard that "ned" voice was that it was that is was some douchebag doing a very bad impression of an old redneck guy.

Very lame

It was pure genius when Bubba had phone sex with that girl, then like 20 minutes later Ned calls in with the call edited so it sounds like Ned and Bubba re going at it.

When I heard the phone sex with the girl I thought man, bubba dropped the ball but when I realized it was a set up for the punchline (neds edited version) I was happy again.

I don't think Howard dislikes Ned, real or not, since he played Ned's David Lee Roth call and loved it.

Why doesn't someone try to call Bubba's show today. Maybe that will put an end to all this.

I did hear Bubba's show on Monday. Bubba, and Manson were talking to Ned on the phone... If Ned=Manson, how could they talk to each other on the phone?

The same way Mike Judge can do Beavis and Buttheads voice. He was having a conversation with himself and when Manson was their when they were talking to Ned. He didn't say much.

I was forced to listen to Bubba at work in tampa for years.
" Ned " easily was the funniest part of it.

I used to hate the show because they wouldnt play howard in Tampa back then but they would play Bubba, who I thought was just another howard imitator. But I must admit, now that theyre on the same team Bubba's starting to grow on me. The first couple of shows were very funny.

" Ned " is really Bubba was the rumor down here "back in the day"

I'm enjoying the rest though. Bubba's doing a good job so far.

bababooey2uall

Yes, the whole thing just rings fake the way Bubba talks about it. There's just something wrong there. If it's a big scam, it is a bad way to introduce yourselves to Howard's audience....to lie to them about something, even something insignificant.

Howard has done a few fake bits like this when he tricks his audience and I'm always resentful afterwards like he just totally wasted my time. I remember one he did with a guy who said he had part of Kennedy's brain in a jar...they did this long bit and then Howard revealed it was an actor. Maybe he realized it was wrong, because he very rarely does those types of bits.

I don't have high expectations of Bubba, but if Ned is fake, then that is a minor strke against him.

Its just shtick.. Ned is a character...

I think that Howard wasn't aware of this fact until after the first show. When Bubba was asking Howard to call Ned and stuff Howard was sort of into it.

Yesterday when Bubba brought it up Howard obviously didn't give a shit and didn't want to talk about it, "you know what to do".

The rednecks that believe Ned is a real person are the same people who think Larry the cable guy is really from the south and really talks with a hick accent.

Look... guys... put on your ears and re-listen to Bubba's show from the 9th. Every time he would say "If Ned were here, he'd probably say..." and then went into a Ned impression. BUBBA IS NED. EVERY time he did it, it was full-on in "Ned's voice" and then he'd quickly adjust it within the next sentence to make it sound like it was him doing an "impression."

Play a ned clip and one of those moments back to back. I did. Bubba is Ned. He slipped up several times.

Phil Hendrie is amazing and the only person close to being in Howard's league for being original and entertaining. If Howard ever signs him it will be fanfuckingtastic. Howard's watched him do his show.

You guys remember the call to Howard about 4 years ago from a woman claiming to be the sister of that old Jewish guy who sings backed up by a piano? A religious song I think. Does anyone know if that "woman" was Hendrie? I'd try to find that bit if I had the date. Help!

I agree about Phil Hendrie. I think with his shows formula it may be tough for people to stumble upon him as easily as terrestrial in california. He is great even when he is not doing the calls though. In fact, I discovered him in the weeks following 9-11 and liked listening to him before I learned about the call.

Maybe he could do a Siruis show one night a week - Phil Hendrie: Without Voices - he is great talk radio.
