I know there is all sorts of storys, theorys, and speculation why he wasn't allowed on Sirius Canada.

Last week my Blaupunkt receiver fried, I have been listening to FM waiting for a new receiver :tears:

Finally today, buddy at the stereo shop calls, after he tells me he cant find a replacement Blaupunnkt radio. Mine was his last one when I got it in November, now he doesn't deal any satellite rados anymore, he will give me my money back. Pissed me off, but what am I to do...Riiiight !

So he told me this is what his rep told him.

He said that he hears that Howard is FOR SURE coming in the spring (2006). He said that all the radios have the potential to get Howard, they are just blocked. If they didn't have the potential to get Howard, they would have to recall all of them when they let Howard on. The only thing that decides what subscription you have is, the 1-800 number you call in on to subscribe. You call the US number, you get the US service, you call the Canadian number, you get Canadian service. So you can just go buy any radio, just call the proper number, or register online.

I know this is third or fourth hand information, but it sounds plausible to me. Could be a bunch of BULLSHIT. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I am not going to take a chance. I am going to get a US one off e-bay. I can't afford to have it not work, it has already been 7 shows missed. If I miss many more, I am going to :suicide:

They better bring him to Canada if they want anyone to subscribe to Sirius Canada.

Thats not true. I bought a radio @ best buy in Toronto and called the U.S. 800 number with an american address and got no Howard. After lots of phone calls to Sirius I finally got through to a department called "retention" and they told me ALL Canadian radios have firmware installed that blocks Howards channels and several others.
If you want to hear Howard up here you have to get an American radio (I used ebay) and give them an American address.
Any address will do, they don't mail you anything. Get an american phone book listing and pick one and your in.

They can update stuff thru data streams,, so if a Cnada radio doesnt get the same channels as the U.S radio,,, they can change that easy enough ,, buut Canada with or without Howard will insist on haing thier Canadian content percentage shit,,so no matter what ya do,,you'll still get stuck with a certain amount of Rush,Loverboy,Anne Murry,Brian Adams,Bare Naked Ladies, The Tragically Hip etc,,,,,, (actually I like the hip) but I just hate the Canadian content laws

You must be kidding. You just listed off successful Canadian acts that get less airplay because they are a success, Bryan Adams already complained about this, the Cancon rules actually reduced his airplay from what it would have normally been. No, what you'll get is Foufou Larou plays harmonica and John Tesh style bits on how peat moss is harvested from swamps. Also looking forward to the scintilating political commentary from semi-informed Canadians who talk like Adam Carolla, very s-l-o-w-l-y. "Yeah, I think Quebec for the most part is French, and it should be allowed to stay that way but I think blah blah blah.

Brian Adams intentionally produces his albums in the USA because he dosent agree with the strict content laws. I hate his music but i respect his stance.

If I had a .gif program, I would have assembled the individual tuners into a moving .gif. Steal these banners...
