Worst holiday by far....I can't stand most of whats served at Thanksgiving dinner. To me, its on the same par as consuming dried out cardboard & styrofoam packing peanuts with some nasty brown floury slop poured over it .... But what I hate most is having to spend endless hours with people I mostly can't stand. Between the incessant phony compliments to the chef on how "great the bird is this year" (Even though it tatses just as bland & bone dry as every other bird you've had on Thanksgiving), To the mind numbing stories of what Aunt Mary Shitstain or Uncle Jimmy Faketeeth have been up to for the last 10-12 months since you've seen them last.........I Fucking hate this holiday and will be glad when its done and over with.........Tell me about one of your most classic Thanksgiving memories.....

I know I may get bashed for this but here goes...

A friend just received the discharge papers from Chapter 7 bankruptcy! :beer:

PROS:
Accumulated unsecured credit card debt of over $70,000 has been wiped out.
He still have access to approximately $32,000 cash in a fire proof box at home! This money is technically his wife's and it is from cashing their tax return checks for the past 3 years. There was nowhere on the form to disclose this information. :dontknow:

For the past 8 months he took a salary that was significantly less than what he will again
be earning a week after receiving the papers! His previous 6 months salary prior to filing
was just under $14,000 so he qualified for Chapter 7 and a total discharge of his debt. Now he will be making 6 figures again thanks to his company's business picking up!

He has been fortunate to continue making the mortgage payments on his house and the 2 rental properties he owns so he will even continue to reap the tax and appreciation benefits.
Because the rental properties break even (they are double and triple mortgaged) there was no reason for the trustee to consider liquidating them. In the end, he continues to receive the tax benefits and appreciation of the rental properties too.

CONS:
His credit score will go to shit for a little while but his wife's credit continues to be excellent.
He won't be able to buy a home in the next 7 years...but he doesn't expect to be moving anytime soon.
He won't be able to finance a car anytime soon but he drives a company car and his wife's is only 2 years old!!

Fortunately, everything he did was completely legal. And he also sleeps well knowing the credit card companies charge 25%+ to compensate for their horrible lending standards and high risk nature of their business!

This entire scenario was precipitated by the financial crisis. His business opened just a few days before the government let Lehman go under (while rescuing others), causing a panic through that industry!! That business closing is the cause for much of this unpaid debt!

Anyone have a problem with what he did? After all, it was all legal and the credit cards knew what they were getting into when they signed an agreement with him!

You think you know how to torture, America? Waterboarding is for schoolchildren. Detainees locked in an internment camp in Iraq are mocking their captors -- members of the Wisconsin National Guard -- with Brett Favre jokes.

Evil bastards!

It all started when the National Guardsmen began decorating their trucks and other areas of Camp Cropper with Packers colors recently. The prisoners picked up on it, did some research (Wiraqipedia?), and began with the Favre barbs. What goes around comes around, I suppose. I blame Dick Cheney.

"They know Favre by name," said First Lieutenant Tim Boehnen, who is from New Richmond, Wis.
"One of the big words they know now is shenanigan. They'll constantly talk about 'Favre shenanigans,' 'He's so good for the Vikings,' and 'The Packers have got to really feel bad about that one.' "
According to Boehnen, it started when troops there started decorating their camp in Packers colors.
"They obviously then started up the conversations, and started talking about Brett Favre. They soon learned about Favre going to the Vikings, and things just started going downhill from there."
Boehnen said soccer is the main sport that detainees pay attention to there, so there's not exactly a Vikings fan club chapter in Iraq.
"They'll hear guards talking about it, and then they pick up a lot of stuff from that, too," said Boehnen. "They're very crafty. They learn different stuff from different ways."
Once they learn a little more about football, they can start increasing the pressure: Like calling for Matt Flynn to replace Aaron Rodgers, or making fun of cheese.
