ARTICLE: Sigman & Rochlin LLC

As you guys know I occasionally write articles about comedy shows, books, CDs, strip clubs, sex toys, etc but this week it's a law firm. Yep, a law firm. I guess i won't have to stick my dick in anything this time.

Sigman & Rochlin LLC
Counselors at Law
www.SigmanAndRochlin.com

When Rich Rochlin first contacted me about the write up for Signman & Rochlin all I could think of is why would a law firm want to do with us but honestly, look around. We probably all need a little legal help. I'm not pointing any fingers. Besides, there is a Stern Show connection. Rich from Signman & Rochlin is the financial adviser that put Sal & Christine Governali on a budget. Their firm also handled Sal "the Stockbroker", Richard Christy, & Shuli Egar's contracts. Sounds like I need to find out more about these guys.

College roommates Rich Rochlin (business attorney and former partner at Shipman & Goodwin) & Scott Sigman (former Philadelphia assistant district attorney) launched their new law firm earlier this year but have been working in law for more than 10 years. They teamed up with Wally Zimolong (real estate & construction litigation) and Rich Agins (CPA & bankruptcy attorney) to round out the team. Details of their practice areas are on their website.

Since I can't exactly review the firm, I did an interview.

Mutt - "So what's the deal with this financial planning thing? How exactly did you help Sal & Christine get back on track?"
Rich Rochlin - “I gently force my clients to take a realistic approach to finances and do so without making any judgments. My role is to help fix the problem and not to chastise the client for poor decisions. I put together a budget looking at their debt and let them know what is the most important to to get paid off, set up goals, and a timeline to get it accomplished. I've also followed up with them to make sure they are sticking to the plan and work on getting them disciplined. In other instances we've negotiated with the banks to settle credit card debt but in their case that was not an issue."

Mutt - "You were in Florida with us when Sal fell off the stage. Did you represent Sal for that? He's lucky he didn't get severely hurt."
Rich Rochlin - "We are available to handle personal injury cases nationwide but when I spoke to Sal about it, he fully admits it was his own fault and was not interested in going after damages."

For those of you that don't remember or just want a laugh, here's the youtube video of Sal in the monkey mask falling off stage in Lakeland, FL. Luckily he only broke his arm from this 7' fall onto a concrete floor landing between two metal fences. I was shocked & relieved that it wasn't any worse. He spent the night in the hospital and the next day was violently nauseous from the pain killers. Though his ass was still welted up from being shot with a paintball gun by his wife Christine days earlier, he stayed in good spirits.
.

Mutt - "You said you handle entertainment law & have worked with Sal, Richard, & Shuli. What's that about? What can you tell me that you've done for them?"
Rich Rochlin - "We recently handled Richard's record contract. He got a great deal from Metal Blade Records and the production is almost done. The most important thing I could do in representing Richard in his contract negotiations is to be sure that the final agreement was clear and concise. Most litigation occurs when the party’s expectations are not aligned, particularly when the contract is not drafted in a clear and concise way. We handle all of Richard’s and Sal’s higher profile appearances. I make sure that everyone is on the same page and add some credibility to a process that is too often done with handshakes and phone calls – and often results in talent getting screwed in some way. We also negotiated Sal & Richard's contracts with InDemand though I can't get into any details."

Mutt - "What about criminal stuff? Have you helped any of the wackpackers or do you have any advice for those like Joey Boots or High Pitch Eric that have pending cases against them?"
Rich Rochlin - "No we have not handled any wackpack cases and I'm not familiar enough with the specifics to give advice but combined our partners have defended over 100 jury trials to verdict."

Mutt - "Artie recently pled guilty to driving while under the influence of prescription drugs. If he was fighting it, would you have any advice?"
Scott Sigman - "We handle lots of DUI cases as well drug possession offenses. While working for the city of Philadelphia as the assistant DA, I specialized in drug prosecutions and certainly know how to defend them. Artie needs to minimize his discussions on the air about the incident. I wouldn’t want him to give the prosecution any additional information to use against him. The lower the profile he keeps, the better it will be for his defense."

Mutt - "What makes your firm different from other firms?"
Rich Rochlin - "Clients can sometimes feel like they have to battle just to speak to their attorney. At our firm clients get our cell phone number & direct emails. You'll never feel like your being blown off for bigger clients."
Mutt - "I've never even heard of such a thing. When you have an upcoming court case & it takes days or weeks to get a call back from your lawyer, you could drive yourself crazy. I love that you give out your personal contact info and not just a secretary or voicemail."

Mutt - "Law firm commercials are normally focused on things like divorces, wills, personal injury, etc. Are you that kind of firm? Do you strictly work in New York?"
Rich Rochlin - "No, we have offices in New York, Philadelphia, Hartford, and Cherry Hill where we represent clients for criminal defense, bankruptcy, construction litigation, corporate law,& finance, entertainment law, and more. We do not do divorces, wills, or trusts but as I said before we handle personal injury cases nationwide."

Scott Sigman often appears on IYC with Lynn Doyle. Check out the video of a recent show where they discuss is the Michael Jackson death was murder to get an idea of who he is.

Rich said if I ever need legal help, their firm will have my back so look out internet wackos with your empty lawsuit threats. I've got muscle. If you find yourself in need of a law firm, consult Sigman & Rochlin. These guys are one of us.

Maybe I should consult them about this email I just received.

Quote:
Dear xxxxxxxxx,

With due maximum respect, I crave your indulgence knowing that this my proposal will be a surprise to you. I am Ramli Zain, an attorney at law and accredited legal representative to late client of mine who has thesame last name as yours. He died as a result of a heart related illness in December 2005.

I am asking for your consent to assist in the transferring of the funds left behind by my late client into your account before it is confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank, and this deposit valued: (US$19.625,000.00).Since you have thesame last name with my late client so the proceeds of this funds can be remitted into your account as a foreign partner.

The bank has issued me a notice to contact the next of kin or the account will be confiscated and so far all my efforts to get hold of someone related to my client has proved abortive.

My proposition to you is to seek your humble consent in presenting you as the next of kin or beneficiary to my late client's estates, since you have thesame last name.It is my assurance that this proposal will be executed under the applicable laws to guarantee full legitimacy. Then we can both share the funds on a mutually agreed percentage.

All legal documentations to back up your claims as my late client's or next of kin will be issued to us.All i require is your absolute honesty, cooperation and total adherence to my instructions to enable us transfer this funds into your account smoothly.

If this proposition offends your moral ethics, do accept my sincere apology,In contrary indicate your interest and further details will be giving as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Barrister Ramli Zain

I'm sick of these foreign scam artists. I get those fake lottery bs emails. Seems nothing ever gets done to them, being overseas/international law.

I will have to comment on article from home -mobile is unreliable.

But I will say statistics/successfully handled cases, reputable testimonials, are important. Free consultations, upfront honesty, immediate attention and making potential client feel like their case is main priority, making callbacks as promised, etc

If I ever need legal representation, (thank God I haven't), I might give them a call.

I liked the "interview" style of the article and the videos were a nice added touch. A gutsy move for a lawyer to give out his/her cell number and personal email. That I've never heard of, unless you're a family member or close friend. Very impressive.

I'm sure there are some Stern fans that will be interested in giving this firm a call.

I confess I didn't read all of the "article". Sorry, but this looks like paid promotion and should be identified as such in the article. If that's worthy of banning, so be it.
