exactly nuge. i'm agreeing with you now and you're seeing my point. the yankeez won it 'cause their owners wanted to spend more. the ownership won it. their revenue stream won it. i'm applauding them for that. the steinbrenners' deserve credit. they stepped up and bought it for their fans. regardless of what manuel did or didn't do, it wouldn't have mattered becuase the yankees were the better team because of their offseason moves and their payroll. hence, they bought the title. kudos to them.

a huge choke. just like the past 8 years (especially 04). do you think the yankees losing is the same as the dodgers losing? of course not. one team spends TWICE as much as the other to try to win the WS. of course it's much worse when the yankees lose. and when they win it means much less because they SHOULD win if you outspend every other team by anywhere from $75 - $150 million. so again, i say well done steinbrenners. congrats on the purchase! the best team won this year.

Again, so you are saying it's OK for the Mets to miss the playoffs and the Sox to get swept in teh first round, TRUE?

absolutely not. the yankees had great scouting and a great organization in the early to mid 90s and they devolped those players. BUT they were able to re-sign them and not lose them (like the Indians lost CC, like the Marlins lost AJ, like the Rangers lost Tex because they couldn't afford to keep those players). the only player ny has developed in the past 10 years that has been any good is cano - and he was signed as a free agent as a youth in the domincan. so if the yankees didnt but those three this offseason they obviously wouldn't have won anything AND THEY STILL WOULD HAVE HAD THE HIGHEST PAYROLL IN THE LEAGUE.

the mets are a horrible organization at this point. they have done a terrible job and even though though they had tons of injuries, they accomplished shit for that payroll. that being said, the yankees wouldnt have won 80 games if they had the mets payroll. try trimming almost $60 million in players from the yankees and see what that gets you.

the red sox have won two of the past six WS and they lost to a better team who is just about even in payroll. that being said, they absolutely had no excuse to lose to tampa last year. boston choked in my opinion and tampa definitely outsmarted them with acquistions like iwamura and the garza/bartlett trade. much better moves than theo last season the past two years.
