Open letter to Sirius/Sabien
I wont pretend how to manage corporate America, since that is not my area of professionalism (hint).
The disrespect shown today was out of bounds. It's not only a rip towards the BRN, but a direct rip to us fans as well. What do the guys have to do to be treated with a mutual respect? I don't listen to ANYONE talk to me like that. Why would anyone else? The show has proven itself as a top ratings getter on both formats recently. After the big talk when the execs showed up some time ago, the crew has been nothing but supportive and positive towards the deal. Off the record at Bubbapalooza, nothing but more positive vibes on Sirius and the future with them. We're you listening today? Nothing but positive speak, and dumped. Those were questions from the FANS, the ones that pay their monthly subscriptions. We're fortunate enough that the brn allows such fan access. Thanks for throwing a big fucking roadblock in that after a 10 month hiatus. If I had to listen to a boss, wife, or anyone else that spoke to me and treated me that way.....the door couldn't hit them in the ass fast enough. I am fortunate enough to have a pretty kick ass job that allows me to spend a ton of time listening to the radio. For the first four months of the year, I listened to both shows EVERY day. Notice I am rarely ever on these boards anymore? I bought a house, remodeling, and had other things that took some time. So, I had to make a choice. Since the newfound apparent respect had been given, the Sirius show was great. I had to make a choice of which one I was going to listen to daily. I chose Sirius. Why? That's a good question. Is it cheaper? No, it's 13+ a month. Is it easier? Fuck no, the top of the line receiver with all of the bells and whistles is a non-working piece of shit. I am streaming online right now since the pile of shit can't seem to work as designed. This is my third stiletto, by the way. Some bullshit with all of them. The AM show is much easier to get, and listen to at my leisure. Guess what? The content is as good, if not better. This isn't a threat by any means. I am not some opie and anthony ass threatening to smash my receiver........I am just beginning to have a very hard time justifying all the time, money, and bullshit when the AM show is free, equal content, and easier to get. The total disrespect towards the guys, their fans, and everything else is at a boiling point. Fucking sick of it.

The fact that the Sirius execs came down, to personally look at and check out the operations Bubba had in Tampa, should be just a little hint to Tim that Bubba is for real. Just listening to the show, and hearing how people who were formally Howard fans, call in and say how they feel Bubba is doing a better job than Howard and how they like listening to Bubba more, should show Tim that he needs to shut up and stop interfering with the channels. There is a reason that HOWARD not TIM wanted to hire Bubba. Fuck you Tim you dumb shit. YOU FAIL |

I'm not even really able to listen to Howard anymore. I love Howard's show, but my schedule doesn't give me free mornings at all. Fact is, I came to Sirius FOR Bubba and since I can't enjoy Howard anymore, I've pretty much decided after today's fucking BULLSHIT fiasco that if Bubba goes, so do I. It's not a "threat" or whatever. Tim and all you guys can run your fucking company however you want. That's your business and surely we paying customers shouldn't be telling you what to do, right? I just gotta do what I gotta do. I'm not paying for censorship. Period. I'm especially not paying to listen to Bubba and the boys get treated like fucking children. "To protect them from themselves." Yeah, right. That's what parents tell their kids when they don't have a real reason for shit. Fuck you, buddy.

I listened to show in the hopes of getting to hear alot of answer to questions the fans/listeners wanted to know about the show which alot of us have grown to love. the dumping of the answers while they were maybe a taboo for sirius rules of conduct, were truthful and handled in no way i thought to disrespect sirius in anyway, they never came across as such to myself. When you finally called in, talking to bubba in that way was totally uncalled for, you talked to him in a totally un professional manor, if he wanted to talk on the air it wasnt only for bubba but also for the listeners to know why a radio company like sirius which has proclaimed anything goes/no dumping right from when howard was signed to sirius and still on fm, dumped him. now bubba is coming across as not wanting to do anything that will be dumped and thats no way to run his show, he loves his listeners and wants the best radio listening experience for them. that in part is your fault from what transpired on the show today and its bullshit. |

Of course my stiletto didn't record it as it was scheduled, and supposed to. I ran right back in the room as the crap was already underway.....I was late back from the break. If anyone has an iggy on the recording, please PM me.
I'm sorry.....I'd planned to write a well written post, but it didn't come out as well as planned. Cliffs notes are: Even in Ohio the AM show is easier to get. I pay the $13+ a month just for bubba, and am having a very hard time justifying all the trouble with equipment to make this format my daily choice. No one should be spoken to like that. In essence, Howard leaving terrestrial for satellite left a huge void that assbags like Opie and Anthony cannot fill. Bubba has proven time, and time again that he can get the job done. Tim and company are lighting a fuse they don't want to light. If they knew how to work, they'd pay him what he needs to stay on Sirius, and not be the competition that will bury them. |

Dear Tim,
I'm sure you feel that, when Bubba leaves and takes his audience with him, he will be replaced by somebody who will bring in his own set of fans. Perhaps that's the case. However, that fails to meet the definition of "growth," and I assume that Sirius is looking to grow its company in any way possible, even as it slides further into debt. I realize that your intentions are good. You were trying to protect not just Bubba but also your brand. However, I think that the way the situation has escalated to this point is beyond ridiculous. You should never have put so many walls up around Bubba and his show. You should know that your listeners are both intelligent and dedicated - I doubt you will find anybody who does not know that Bubba is working in regular radio now, but I doubt you'll find a single fan who'd choose FM over Sirius. If a fan can listen to both, he or she will, but if he can't, then they seem to be choosing Sirius. Besides, if you are so concerned with losing listeners who figure out that they can get Bubba for free, then perhaps you should work harder to ensure that you lose no listeners at all by keeping Bubba at Sirius. Seems like a very simple solution to me, and it seems like your execs aren't looking at things logically. You seem to be taking a mixed approach, telling Bubba that what he does is bad, that he's not worth the trouble, that you wouldn't lose listeners if he left, that he's not financially viable for you, and at the same time you are telling Bubba that he is not to say a single clear thing about his "other situation," as Sirius would risk losing listeners if people knew they could freely get something they are paying for. Well, is it one, or the other? If Bubba brings nothing to the company, then what do you have to lose by letting him be honest? If Bubba's services are valuable and important, then what do you lose by treating him with the respect that you treat Howard? I wish you the best with your work situation. I have a feeling this will be a tough year for everybody. I want you to know that I will continue to subscribe to Sirius for the remainder of '08, but the moment Bubba goes, I go with him. I have trouble showing support for a company that has such disrespect for not just its talent, but for its subscribers. Your mangling of Bubba's content effects us, much as the restrictions you placed on him to begin with insults us. I have worked in companies like Sirius, and the atmosphere is destructive and unhealthy. I hope you can clean up your executives before they cost you the company all together. Good luck, goodbye. |

Tim is nothing but a low life, fat, shit-head who should be fired by Howard Monday morning at the 7:00 hour, then replay the hell out of it. If Bubba goes, (AND THIS IS A THREAT SIRIUS THAT BUBBA ASK ME NOT TO DO, BUT FUCK YOU CENSOR-NAZIS BASTARDS) then stop asking me to buy more radios and supporting this company. I will sign up for the next satellite company that looks at your fuck-ups, listens to their subscribers, and give us the programming we want, and not what they think we should hear!

Amen and amen......let's all remember 1 thing....if Tim Sabien was a programming genius as he would have us believe......he'd STILL be at CBS making more money than I KNOW he's making at Sirius.

I was on the train when this all went down and didn't hear, can someone post a brief recap of what got the fight started and what got dumped? I tuned into Mutt's show and a caller made it sound like shit got dumped after bubba brought up his terrestrial show.

I thought satellite radio was uncensored...today I realized that I was dead wrong!!! Isn’t this the reason I pay money every month? So I don’t have to deal with the BULL SHIT of regular radio. If any programs continue to get censored I’m canceling my two radios and my premium internet service! I hope someone from Sirius reads this cause I hope they tell everyone in the building that HOWARD IS NOW and BUBBA IS THE FUTURE OF SIRIUS!! Sirius has to think differently as a company, they have a great angle “Uncensored talk” stick this and you will have loyal customers for many more years.
Bubba has many loyal fans and as one, I can say that if Sirius doesn’t take care of one their top talents (even if they don’t want to admit it) then my $35 per month is no longer going to Sirius. Thanks for your time |
