Henry Rollins & Howard Stern
Seems Henry has gotten on the bad side of Howard regarding some negative comments he made about the KOAM.
First a call from the father of a man that Henry is somehow involved in the death of according to the caller and then another call from a guy talking down on Henry's character and business practices. Anyone know about this murder? |

I know he scooped the dude's brain up and saved it in a jar.
Here is a link to what I think is the article in question. Nothing that bad in it. Nothing out of character or anything he didn't say during the interview. http://www.nyrock.com/interviews/2002/rollins_int3.asp "NYROCK: You were on Howard Stern a while back. It was a great appearance. What was your take on it? HENRY: I actually ended up liking the guy. I didn't know what to expect. I don't really listen to him. But I thought he was an okay dude. I thought he was a very shy guy, 'cause when you make eye contact with him, he always looks away. So I would just kind of burn holes through those purple glasses and stare at him when he asked a question, and he would never meet my gaze. I just think he's kind of used to that darkened room and dealing with people either one at a time from across the table or from a long-distance phone. I liked him because he didn't try and, you know, abuse-the-guest kind of thing. He was cool to me and I got that and I was cool back. We got along very well, where I did not think we were going to get along. I was ready to leap over the table and grab him if he was going to hassle me. At that hour of the morning, you know how it is; you're really not up for any static." |

Rollins Radio
Henry has a new radio show in LA. It's on KFI sunday afternoons, last sunday was his first show. I have to admit, he was pretty good. I am not really a big fan of his "spoken word" stuff but I like his music. He spoke about terrorism and Bush and Iraq and he was pretty fair. I hope his show lasts, he preceeds Matt Drudge and follows a cooking show, kind of a wierd time slot.

I do not know. I listened to the show of and on for an hour or so, usually at the top of the hour and I do not remember any phone calls but he may take them towards the end of the hour. I'll let you know next week, with a phone number. |

Re: Henry Rollins & Howard Stern
Quote:
The guy who called in this morning was Dennis Cole (aka the former Mr. Jaclyn Smith) a blonde, muscled TV actor (he and Jaclyn met on Charlie's Angels) who never really made it -- and then lost his son in the shooting in which Rollins narrowly escaped death himself. Not to take away from his grief, but losing his son gave Cole a "cause" and new opportunity to be back in the spotlight. Cole had called into the Show before to talk about his son's death and the fact that the murder has never been solved. No one recognized him today. (Where's Benjy's research when you need it?) That probably has him even more bummed than his kid's death. I don't think he was implying Rollins had anything to do with the death itself (other than as the other shooting victim). I suspect that Rollins may not have lived up to whatever probably unrealistic expectations Cole had, whether $$ or other support. |
