If someone comes up with their own shows by demand service then In Demand will be gone by next year. None of the cable channels that use them are happy. They charge way to much money yet they pay for such little server space that they ask your local cable company to put more programs on that can possibly fit, then give them permission not to include all programming or even delete programs long before they are scheduled to. In the case of the Howard Stern channel, they have never scheduled all the programs that were on their website. When I first called them up they blamed my cable company for not adding them on time. But when I called my cable company they said that In Demand has not rented a server big enough to store all the shows that each channel has programmed and at this point they can only place about 68% of what is programmed on the combined channels into the server. They told me that if they were to add all of the shows on the Howard Stern channel, or any of the other In Demand channels I use then they would have to remove programs that are already in the server.

So I called back In Demand and brought this up and the person on the end of the phone says that In Demand does not have to provide all of the programming for each channel and that there is a disclaimer on their website. FUCK THEM!! I can't wait until Howard moves his channel to another service that will give me all the shows that I paid for and will not delete them after a single day.

I understand your frustration, but you should probably post this thread in the Howard TV forum...:hw:

the whole thing sounds sketchy. this is why i don't pay for this service and never will. he needs to just get a tv deal with somebody, anybody and suck it up... of course, he would have exclusive rights to his material.

hbo or showtime or max would benefit greatly from this...

I've had the service since before it launched in november, hell, i broke news here of it's availability. I haven't had a problem with the service end..stuff has appeared a little later than I expected, but I have never seen a show advertised that just never showed up. That said, I think Howard should look into getting a traditional channel (which actually I think he thinks he already has) that would operate 24 hours, a la HBO or whatever, and just use the On Demand to supplement it. This way he would actually be able to do live stuff. Whether or not the base is big enough to support that is another question, but just sayin anyway.

Heres the deal with in/on demand

It has nothing to do with them, its your cable company. HBO OD has the same problems, a friend of mine doesnt get sopranos till tues/wed. Stop whining and blaming OD and call your cable co and complain to the people who's fault it is
codythunder
Yeah Comcast cable just upped the price for Howard OnDemand from 9.99 a month to 13.99. Also the other day I bought a single show for like 7.99, which was the Jenna Jameson Interview/sybian ride, and the camera guys could not keep the cameras in focus whenever they had to zoom in. I don't know w/e its still cool to see the show on TV and uncencsored

Correct...I have Comcast, and I've never had a problem...:dontknow:

Funny thing is I know people on the same cable system that get stuff at different times on all the OD channels. Some when they are supposed to be on some way later. "Sleeper cell" even came on SHOOD early one week

At least you guys can get it. Direct TV claims they dont have the ability to do On Demand. Of course they still send me flyers with my bill every month and messages through my Tivo asking me if I want Starz On demand. So who knows WTF they can or cant do. I think it has more to do with thier deal with XM. No matter what though the only way I would ever give comcast another dime was if all the Direct TV satellites fall out of the sky. Comcast raises thier prices 5 times a year without warning and wonders why people keep leaving them. Ive had Direct TV for three years and they havent raised my rates once.

I have every HTV show on my cable system that is listed on the iNDEMAND web site. The problem is your cable service provider and not iNDEMAND.

I have Adelphia and I've also had every show that was on Howard's website.

I thought I wasn't having any problems either but apparently there have been shows I never got and didn't realize it. For example I've gotten the show where Tabitha Stevens rides the Sybian. I get most of the new shows in a fairly timely manner (at least I think I do...) but it sounds like I never got some of the older E! shows on my cable system. That kinda sucks because there are tons of E! shows I'd love to see unedited.

On Adelphia here in Cleveland, not only do they exclude many of the shows, but they are sometimes a week to 10 days behind all the other channels.

it's weird, I have Comcast......and I have to digital boxes in my apt. One is updated with everything. The other box hasn't been updated since last wed. with the 4/5/06 daily show.

My cable system is Brooklyn/Queens cable which is owned by Time/Warner. The way it was explained to me was that In Demand rents server space from the cable companies to store all their shows. The cable company does not have to add more servers if In Demand is not renting them. They accuse In Demand of adding far more programming then the server space they rented which is why so many shows come in late, are deleted early, or are never added at all. But whatever the reason, it is In Demand that is ultimately responsible to make sure that ALL the shows are on the system for the full month that everyone is charged for. They have no fucking right still billing me the $14 even though I did not get a full service. And since sometimes shows are pulled long before the scheduled date I have to watch or tape everything the moment it is added just to be safe, and on top of that I have to keep turning to the channel all the time to check to see if anything is new. Last November they added an E! Show episode I wanted to see uncensored, and it was pulled almost the next day for no reason. If there is a possibility that some shows will only be available for a day or even a few hours, then it is no different than if it was a regular premium channel. At least with premium channels you can check a TV guide as to when something is on, and if service on that channel is for some reason interrupted then you don't have to pay for that month, even if they are only down for a few hours. And you don't get shit where some areas get shows while others do not.

You shouldn't have bought it through Events on Demand. The Jenna J and P Diddy ep is in the sexy fun and games category.

As far as iNDemand goes they are probably the best content provider right up there with HBO. Their pitches are always on time and are always successful. TVN on the other hand needs to really get on the ball. Feel lucky that the distribution deal is with iNDemand and not TVN. There would be no telling when and what assets you would recieve. Providers do not "rent" server space. There is a negotiated number of hours on demand programming from every provider. A linear channel would never work as there would not be enough programming to fill 24/7. Plus pretty soon everything will be on demand. Every service, channel, provider will have their titles on demand. It is the way of the future.
