2,137 Entries Flood iN Demand’s Offices

New York, NY (April 17, 2006) – The most outrageous film festival, The Howard Stern Film Festival, announced today an all-star panel of judges that will be screening and rating the top entries. The judging panel includes Chicago Sun Times film critic Richard Roeper of “Ebert and Roeper” fame, director Todd Phillips (“Old School,” “Starsky & Hutch”), comedian, author and star of “Law & Order: SVU” Richard Belzer, Stern sidekick Robin Quivers and the man behind the inspiration, Howard Stern. The winners of the more than $25,000 in cash and prizes will be announced at the star-studded red carpet award show being held at the landmark Hudson Theater at the Millennium Broadway Hotel (145 West 44th Street) on Thursday, April 27th.

After announcing The Howard Stern Film Festival on February 22nd, Stern fans around the country began scripting creative and innovative Howard Stern-themed short films. The iN DEMAND Networks offices were flooded with 2,137 short film entries from across the country. Extra staffing has been brought in to make sure each film gets properly screened and rated in time to possibly make it to the final rounds.

After all the entries are reviewed, the five judges will screen the top selections and rate each on originality, overall quality and connection to Howard Stern-themed content. Top selected filmmakers will be invited to the award show and joined by Howard, his crew, members of the infamous “wack pack” and throngs of Stern fans to screen the world premiere of the best and worst of The Howard Stern Film Festival. The judges will be on hand to award the more than $25,000 in cash and prizes to the top three filmmakers. On April 28th, the filmmakers will be catapulted into stardom when their films become available EXCLUSIVELY on Howard TV On Demand.

“Our goal with The Howard Stern Film Festival was to get Howard Stern’s fans directly involved with his new television network,” said Robert D. Jacobson, President and CEO of iN DEMAND Networks. “The fans have been coming out in full force and we have received thousands of original Stern-inspired films that push the envelope in innovative and exciting ways. We have recruited an elite panel of film and media industry luminaries to help Howard make the final decisions.”

I can't wait to see the Film Festival on Howard TV, in all it's glory!

My guess is that it will be available sometime in the early part of June. Maybe they'll edit it down to a 30 or 40 minute show. Should be fun to see!
