Anybody have a problem with the Sirius antenna at a car wash?

Never, not even when I had my XM antena on my truck for over 2 years .. I have my Sirius and XM antenna right next to eachother.. You probably didnt clean the roof your car with the alcohol prep pad when you istalled the antenna those antennas are super strong..

I mounted the antenna on the trunk. When I wash the car, I drop in in the trunk so it doesn't get blown around or damaged.

While I'm at work, I mount my antenna on the tree in my vehicle that holds all my radios and what not. On my truck though I've never had the antenna move around at all.

The fact that they only give you a magnetic antenna really sucks.

First: some vehicles are stainless, and a few have been made over the years using aluminum or other alloys. And of course it's useless for any of the vehicles that are coming with all-glass roof panels.

Second: depending on the way they are set up and used, and on the car washes you encounter, these things can get dragged around. Also awful if you have to brush snow off, get ice around the thing that needs to be scraped, and all sorts of other things.

The alcohol prep pad is meant for use with the stick-on dashboard mount. It won't make much of a difference for mounting the antenna, although I guess if you have some really fine dust there it might promote scratching.

Personally, I mounted mine to the front edge of the rear window, which on my car is very sharply sloped, so it still peeks out over the top of the car. I attached it with a silicone adhesive that's good on glass. It holds up fine in all the above situations, though I probably would have to be a bit careful if I were using an ice-scraper in that area. If I ever want to remove it, a razor blade will do the job...

Will someone wash my car for me?
Seriously
I put my antenna on the console. It gets great reception and i generally don't trust people.

I put mine on the dashboard and it's been good. Cuts out now and then but not enough to be annoying

Mine is in my back window. Awesome reception--never had a problem

Just go to a touchless carwash instead or hand wash it.

Self wash never gave me any problems. And it's cheaper.

Also, about the snow thing, I've had more than four inches on top of my antenna and it never gave me problems once. I just used the brush part of the ice scraper to move the snow off it and it was perfectly fine.

One thing I've noticed is that it tends to adhere differently on different cars. On some of the most expensive ones it won't stick at all (probably stainless or aluminum), but on many others it just doesn't stick all that well. Guessing the paint is an issue.

I didn't have a problem with the antenna in light dry snow which just brushed off. I'm guessing that the wet, icy stuff that needs a bit more scraping would be a problem.

For those of us living in apartments, condos and other places where there's noplace to wash the car, self-wash isn't even a possibility. (And it's not really cheaper if it's taking up time you don't have...)

mines in my car in the back window just sitting next to my speaker never had a problem

Hand wash your ride. Only lazy fucks pay people to wash their rides.

If you live in a city or even in a suburban condo, handwashing is often a complete impossibility. Between the complete lack of any water connections outside, a lack of parking outside, and homeowners rules, it's not particularly practical.

Of course, it's also not particularly efficient for me to give up an hour of my time to wash my car when I can pay some dude $7 to do it, but I guess it depends how much you have to do with your time.

A little dab of clear silicone adhesive on the bottom of the magnet & all your troubles are gone, it won't even harm your paint if you need to pry it off. What are you driving that's stainless or aluminum, a Delorian?

get some 3M double sided tape from an auto parts store, thats what most bodyshops use to put all the moldings on cars and those last for years
