My first XTR1 that I bought in Dec. of 04 started wearing out around the beginning of the year...I've been limping along until today when I had a new one activated.
Has anyone else noticed a certain life-span for XTR1's? I think a year it kinda short, but who knows?
BTW the phone call & new activation took a total of 10 minutes...excellent service! :D |

| I like my radio. So far so good. But it's only been 6 months. I did buy another unit just in case since I have the Pod and Boombox. |

Yeah, I have one of the boomboxes & the power pod too so I didn't want to switch to a newer reciever yet...hopefully my new one lasts a little longer than the first one. ;) |

My first XTR1 is still alive and kicking after 16 months!!! I got a second unit for Christmas.
I had to replace my Power Pod after a year. It began to crap out when it got too hot.

What? Now I have to worry about the power pod too? Short of dropping these things & other than any batteries, they should last forever... ;)
Wwwaaaaa! :p |

My first Pod used to get knocked around a bit riding the LIRR train 3 hours per day. I have since found a way to secure it better, and believe it will last much longer.
I also suggest not using the Pod any longer than you have to, due to overheating concerns, so use a universal/home/car adapter whenever you can
I was, however, able to pick up a spare Pod on eBay for only $40. |

Two months, I have to make a call today. I have a sportster for my home but had an XTR for my car & boombox. A week ago I was not able to connect my to my car, now I can't play it in my boombox.
I just hope I don't get any hassles when I call to have it replaced. |

| Seems to me like XACT's manufacturing process is weak. My visor is falling apart on a daily basis. It is too bad because I really like the unit. The FM transmitter is great and the sound is great (compared to an XM roady I have). |

| I have mine for about 17 mounths and did have trouble with the POD. My trouble was due to the hillbilly in tech support telling me the wrong thing. I sent the POD out for repair and got a refurbished one week a week later. Everything is working fine since then with both the POD and XTRA1. I bought a second universal kit for the car and it works fine. I have the antenna mounted on the dash of my Honda CRV and Jeep Wrangler and have only minimal drops. |

How do you know it's the power pod and not the receiver itself. I'd had to buy another power pod only to find out it's the receiver and then have a power pod I don't need for a new receiver that might not match the new power pod?
Wow. I was expecting my hardware to last more than 4 months. |

I knew it was the Pod since I used the unit extensively in the universal stand without problems. I only had power problems whenever there was a rapid movement with the Pod or it bumped into something.
I would recommend that anyone who uses the Pod extensively buy a spare Pod. You may be only seconds away from dropping it, and no being able to listen to The Show for even a few days is a few days too long.
Otherwise, I am extremely satisfied using my Pod during my extensive commute and walking the streets of Manhattan, laughing my ass off. |

I had to replace the AC adapter for my Pod and received excellent service on the replacement. |

Yeah I noticed the cord for the power pod was breaking at the transformer...A few drops of thick super-glue took care of that problem.
I use the power pod for my work vehicle so I can listen to a few hours of the show during the work day...so far the actull power pod unit has been great. ;) |

That is exactly what happened to my Pod.
I just flew cross country from NYC to SF and used my XTR1 and Pod to listed to Sirius and Howard in the plane for 5 hours over America!!! I used my extra battery from my old Pod and it worked 95% of the time!!! Imagine, 30,000 feet over the snow-covered Rocky Mountains, listening to Richard and Sal shocking their balls!!
S-U-R-R-E-A-L!!!
I just booked a window seat facing North and it worked great.
I am listening right now on my hotel clock radio.
This is the best. The XTR1 and Pod are seriously underrated.

Yeah it seems the PP is still the best mobile setup...all you need it the XTR1, the pod & any radio nearby... I get a clear signal on my cheapie fm headphones up to about 150 feet from the PP. :D |
