I'VE DONE THIS TWICE NOW. NOT A BIG DEAL BUT I'M WONDERING IF I'M DOING SOMETHING WRONG. SHOULD I START THE IGNITION, THEN PLUG IN THE SPORTSTER?

Not yet, but I'm always worried about something like that. I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to my Sirius.

YAS!

Unplug the damn thing before you start the car, then plug it in, then power on the Sportster. Then reverse the order when you are getting out of the car...

Haven't had a problem yet. I'm more concerned about my Sportster blowing up. It's basically on 24/7 and whenever I take it out of the house to put it in the car, it's usually very hot.

Yeah, bf had that problem with his Starmate. I don't know exactly what happened, but he had to get another power cord too.

Yah, my power cord bit the dust after about a month. Went to Radio Shack and bought a multi-purpose car lighter cord, and it works great.

One of my friends was having problems with his power cord, antenna cord....ended up having to go buy new everything, except the unit, and he never takes the thing out of his car. It's not the sportster or starmate, one of the cheaper models.

Sure thing happened twice to me as well.

I've blown the fuse in the power cord, replaced it once never had a problem again. Definitley plug and unplug the cord.
