Some slight spoilers are in my notes, but nothing is all that compelling anyway.
Ralph:
I don’t know how it happened, but Ralph of all people, created a short that’s pure genius! He captured the true spirit of Ralph as we know him! As well, the audio and video production is excellent! A+
JD:
Not a bad idea for a Howard TV episode. Unfortunately JD was able to produce a video that is no better than a bad home video. Overall Ronnie is an interesting subject matter, but as a short film this could have been done so much better! D-
Richard & Benjy:
Think of a r-e-a-l-l-y bad SNL skit and the only twist is that it stars members of Howard Stern Show and unfortunately is produced by them too! Production values are TV quality, but their resources are grossly wasted. D+
Robin & Fred:
Characters from the show were utilized perfectly! Knowing some of the production history I was excepting a bit higher quality on the audio/video end, but overall it had the feel of a true Howard Stern Show production! B+
Doug Goodstein:
Ironically he broke one of the main festival rules and used copyrighted show audio from Howards last day speech. However, overlooking that element, scripting the suicide of an alarm clock, led by the spoken word of Howard Stern, was pretty damn clever! The overall production was TV quality. Who knew Doug had it in him! B
Artie:
For starters there is no show tie-in other than the fact that Artie is the star of this home movie. Yes, it’s nothing more than an over-acted home movie, with a silly song playing. By festival standards it shouldn’t have even been included, and by common home movie standards it’s no better than a movie made by a 10 year old on the day he learned how to use his new video camera, with musical help from his older brother. D-
Sal:
Excellent show tie-in, executed in classic (think ch9 show) fashion! That said, I was expecting better set design and character creation. But overall it was done well. It was entertaining and funny! B-
Howard:
If you remove Arties non-entry, this is by far the worst staff film submission! Howard telling the InDemand guys one day to pull isolated clips of Fred and to splice them together and play some music over it is not a worthy submission! Hell, the video pulled isn’t even all that entertaining! Howard should be ashamed! D- |

It's a creative play on the story of the guys who ass fucked Henry Hill. I thought it was very funny! |

Holy shit, I was blown away by the quality of these films! I was expecting shitty home cam quality productions, instead I saw films from people who can truly have a future in TV/Movies. Howard should be proud of the final results, he has some very talented, worthy fans out there!
The Mating Call
Umm... this is Stern Show related?! It was kind of funny… think Benny Hill with gay farting. Overall the production was sketch comedy quality, but there was only one brief show connection at the very beginning. C-
Tito Stern: Left Behind
Clever, creative concept, which had fun recreating show history. Production values across the board are excellent! This team could be in TV/Film! B+
Blood on the Tissues
Played like a Sirius commercial meets Scary Movie meets a kooky film student avant-garde movie concept. Production values were great! Another team who could do something in TV/Film! B-
Radio Play
Holy Shit! This was incredible! The creator of this is fucking genius! The personalities of Howard Robin and Fred where captured perfectly by these kids! And the production was Hollywood quality! It looks like a team of seasoned pros made this! A+
Trapped in the Attic
Very creative, funny and a bit creepy. How this is another amateur production is beyond me. A+
No Signal
WTF?! Did this guy hire the writers and production team from The Office?! This was incredible! So many show references were obvious, yet cleverly made. I wasn’t expecting so many high quality entries. Incredible! A+
Eating Fruit salad
This one made me laugh the most, fucking hysterical! How this guy pulled this off and was able to make a well crafted short film out of it is amazing! As good as any prank show on TV and even better! Btw: JD is such a sucker! A+
Degrading Henry
Took a familiar guest story told on the show and incorporated show characters. Clever, funny and executed near perfectly! A-
Stern Revenge
A bit fucked, but high relevance to show history. Done very well in an MTV production sort of way. This is more like what I was expecting from the crew films, but they didn’t even come close to this quality in their films (if you can even call some of those staff entires “films”). A-

Sal's film was by far the best. The ending was great.
2nd would be Ralph's....
3rd Robins/Fred |
|
|
| Son-Of-Fartman |
| Sal was definately the best, pretty disspointing for everyone else. |

I watched the staff films.
Ralph's was great. I started yelling at the screen "What the fuck?? That's it??!!! That bastard!!!!", and then it sank in.
Richard's Benji film started out funny but just dragged on way too long- I didn't finish it cause I got bored halfway through it.
Robin and Fred's movie was interesting. I thought the acting was actually pretty good, but why wasn't Nicole Bass credited at the end of the film?? (if that was Nicole Bass playing the son)
I actually like J.D.'s
Sal's was pretty funny. Although Ronnie screaming "Fuck some whores!" had nothing to do with the story, it was funny.
I actually liked Howard's movie. It was kind of a peek into his strange mind and point of view. He's sitting there staring at his coworkers all day long and decided to focus in on Fred. This is what Howard sees all day long. I thought it was pretty good. |

| I actually really liked Benji and Richard's...I agree it definetely went on way too long. It could have lost 2-3 mi nutes and been much better. But Benji power-walking and Richard's character made me laugh my ass off. |

I've watched "radio play" 7 or 8 times now...Great film... :tu:
Everytime I see it, I notice something different.Little Howie's bedroom has pics of Superman drawn by a child.
Also, him and young Robin both had the Sirius dog sketched in crayon, hung up.
there is also a movie done by Jason, starring Sal as the owner of a pizza parlor. The content was A+ with one minor nitpick. In the very first scene you can see the boom mic, it later rises high enough to be out of the shot...Overall good.
I'm going to watch the Attic one next. :) |

| Anyone else near the Cherry Hill, NJ area having trouble? The Staff films are not showing up. When I click watch it goes to the Comcast screen then back to the main menu after it says error. |

I've now seen 'em all, and I gotta say... I'm pretty disappointed. Radio Play was the only one that met any of my expectations. It was right on.
The rest, though... really didn't do much for me. Robyn and Fred's film didn't make me laugh once. And I "got" it.
Howard's was just embarrasing. (Although he already sort of admitted that he didn't put very much work into it.)
And the fact that Artie's placed over Sal's.. even though it was made over a decade ago, and not FOR the Film Fest.. that sucks.
I hope that they do another fest next year, and that people have more time to really put together something great. It was interesting to watch, but not really all that funny. Maybe they weren't going for laughs when they made their 9 selections for the finalists, I don't know... |
