Does anyone else have comcast as a provider? Mine seems to be super retarded. Here it is Friday night, and i still have not seen the daily shows from monday tuesday and wednesday. My film festival listings have not changed from the original 4. I never got the Penthouse Pets show. It took 1.5 weeks for the Blue iris show to be loaded (which in retrospect, might have been a good thing).

I'm basically curious to see if anyone elses' comcast is this retarded?
conspire
I've had the same problem. Try unplugging your box and let it sit for a few minutes. Plug it back in, and let it reload everything.

It might help...

Seems like stuff was slow to be loaded in the last week.

But before this past week I seemed to be getting everything rather quickly.
wtango
So has anyone called to complain? I haven't yet. Maybe tomorrow.....

I live in Mass and I had the film festival entries on the dot at 12 midnight on Thurs, but I didn't get the staff films or Tuesday, and Wednesday's show till last night, stuff bottles up being late and then all of a sudden everything appears.
DonVitoCorleone
It gets there eventually, but usually 3-7 days late.

Do you live in the Boston Area?
GangstaStern
I've got Comcast in the Marin County, CA (San Francisco Bay Area) and I'm not getting dick. Only the first 2 staff entries and NO film festival finalists. Plus the daily shows aren't there. Anyone know anything more about how to get this stuff up? I'm throwing a Film Festival party tomorrow and it would suck if we gotta cancel!!!!!
FTLOSM
Thats ok I called 3 times to get service and STILL when i go into on demand premium channels howard stern not a single link works, i call they say ok within 30-60 mins it will work, and days later 3 calls later nothing.
DamageInc537
I'm still not getting any luck with my HTV from comcast.. this is friggen stupidity.
GangstaStern
just called Comcast in my area. They say they're doing a 24 to 48 hour correction. Which means, "They're looking into it." Whatever.
Buck Futter
i have comcast in the bay area. I get daily shows 2 days after they've happened every time. the only problem ive ever had is sometimes shows are sold a la carte and not in the premium section til afew days later.
dishrag
I have Comcast in Suburban Philly, and except for one small problem a few weeks back all of the content is there.
The film festival entries were there on Friday late afternoon!
It does suck, though to read about all of the problems that others are having with Comcast in other parts of the country.
Good Luck with them.
I did call Comcast a few weeks back to complain, and the woman gave me a $10 credit and sent the complaint up the ladder. (FYI)
wtango
I also asked for a 1 month refund due to the slow updates for the last 2 weeks. And he said that as a courtesy, he could give me a $5 credit. Better then nothing I guess.

I would definitely recommend that ALL people having problems call their Comcast customer service. We need to let them know that there is an big problem here.

Where in the Bay Area are you? I'm in Marin and have Comcast. I click the "Howard Stern" option on the "Premium" section and I click the "Film Festival" option. There isn't much there. Just Sal and Richard's movie and a short doc of some kind.

How do I find them a la carte?

I'm North of Boston and have the exact same thing going on. I click "Howard Stern", then "Film Festival". And all I get are the 4 shows that have been on there for the last 2 weeks.

Also there is NO new "Daily Shows" from this past week! The newest one is from 4/21.

Please make sure to call your local Comcast company to complain!
GangstaStern
After calling Comcast repeatedly for the last few days, I finally spoke with someone who seems to have a friggin clue what might be going on.

He says that, for some reason, my box may not have received the signal. He sent some codes to my box from their office and my box powered down. He says he's gonna call me in 20 minutes and refire up my box. He says that if that doesn't cure it, I may need a technician out here at my house.

pretty hard to believe the problem is on MY end if other people around the country are having the same problem with comcast...unless a few comcasts boxes out there are defective.

In any case, I'll let you all know what happens.

Was the film festival worth me signing up in the first place, by the way?

When I called my Comcast, the guy put me on hold and went to check to see if the FILM FESTIVAL stuff was showing up on the TVs in the offices. Their OnDemand did not have the new shows either. So at that point I knew it was not my cable box. I knew that the shows had not been loaded in my area yet. But the guy said no one else had complained today. Which I find odd.

He remotely reset my box anyway...and that didn't work.

So, if you talk to your Comcast people, make sure they check their TVs to see if there are more then the old 4 shows in the "Film Festival" category.
wtango
I guess HowardTV is produced by iNDEMAND and then supplies the shows to OnDemand networks around the country.

I found these statements on the iNDEMAND website:

"iN DEMAND is a third-party network that provides a service to OnDemand cable networks across the United States."

"Due to a variety of factors inherent in making a television show available in the OnDemand environment, some shows may debut later in some markets than they do in others."
wtango
I complained to InDemand via this website:
http://www.indemand.com/about/contactUs.jsp

Here is what I wrote:
I am missing the new content for this week. The Film Festival shows were supposed to be up on Thursday at 12 midnight, but it is now Saturday and my cable company still does not have the new shows uploaded!

Date content noticed missing: Saturday 4/29
Cable system: Comcast
Area & Zip Code: Newburyport, MA 01950

Content missing:
- ALL Film Festival Movies
- ALL Daily Shows for 4/24-4/29
- Week in Review 4/24-4/29

I contacted my local COMCAST customer service and they say that they have not recieved the "Film Festival Shows" or the "Daily Shows" from INDEMAND/HowardTV yet. They are looking into the matter...but that doesn't change the fact that I still don't have the shows!
GangstaStern
At least in my case, a smart Comcast support guy SOLVED the problem. Here's what he did:

He shot some kind of signal that rebooted the cable box. It re-downloaded the whole guide and BANG -- all the shows were suddenly there.

But here's the thing: It didn't work the first time. He had to do it twice. And he told me that if it didn't work, I should UNPLUG the cable box and wait for 5 to 10 minutes. Then plug it back in. That would accomplish the same thing.

Try it. After days of no success, this one support guy ACTUALLY KNEW SOMETHING!!!!!!
wtango
Thanks Gangsta! I'll give it a try in a little bit....

The only thing I'm skeptical about is that my local Comcast said it wasn't on their TVs either. But it's worth another shot! I'll let you guys know....

im in oakley. i have all the films under my film festival category.

to find the a la carte episodes go to "events & specials" then "uncensored tv" but I wouldnt recommend it, they're $7.99 each and you have to pay even though youre a subscriber to howard tv! also, they only have a couple on the a la carte thing at a time.

I've got Comcast in the DC area and NADA. The last thing loaded is the show on April 26th. I was all set to watch the friggin' film festival Friday night, too. I called customer service at Comcast and kept getting recordings to call back Monday morning.

I'm still not understanding this unplugging the box thing. I got 4 boxes and have never had to reboot boxes to get new content on any other channel before.

Very odd that your Comcast does not have 24hour customer service. We have it here (north of Boston). They also allow you to "chat" online with a customer service rep, 24 hours a day.

Go to Comcast.com > Support and Service > Contact Us > Enter your address and zip > Then either call the support number or hit the "CHAT" link that you see. Hopefully you have the same information that I see there...

Also make sure you ask them to check the Howard Stern OnDemand Film Festival section on the TVs there in the offices. That way you will know if it's just your problem or if all the people in your area aren't getting the new stuff.
DamageInc537
Wtango, did you have any luck with the online chat? I'm trying it now.

Btw it's almost 1pm sunday, here in Cambridge, MA and I still have not gotten the film festival stuff or the daily shows.

Well... just a little luck with the Comcast chat. Because that is where I asked for my 1 month refund and they gave me a $5 credit. They also said that they would look into the whole issue...that's it.

But it is 1:00 Sunday and still no Film Festival stuff and no new Daily Shows from this week.

Did you see that GanstaStern offered to look into the issue on Monday? His post is on page 2. He works for Comcast in Chelmsford, MA. I'm also calling again tomorrow...

Problem : Cable TV/General Inquiry
Adam > Thank you for contacting Comcast. My name is Adam, how may I assist you today?
William > Hi Adam...
Adam > Hello William
William > I think you helped me yesterday. I still have a lot of content that is missing on my Howard Stern OnDemand.
Adam > Actually, I was here yesterday but I got a request earlier today regarding not all Howard Stern programming is listed yet.
William > I click "Howard Stern", then "Film Festival". As of Thursday at 12midnite there should be at least 15 new shows in that category. But all I get are the same 4 shows that have been on there for the last 2 weeks. Also, the "Daily Shows" category has shows missing. These shows are the daily shows for 4/24 thru 4/28.I already had someone reset my cable box yesterday and nothing changed.
Adam > This is something we are currently aware of. I have sent a ticket to resolve this or at least to get information why is it not up yet.
William > So did you check to see if the shows are on the ONDEMAND in your offices? Just want to make sure it is not on the customer's end.
Adam > I do not have a "Test" station that would have the Howard Stern package. But I did send a ticket to the department that does handle these problems, and should have an answer, if not a fix very soon.
William > Would it be fixed on a Sunday (today) or do you think Monday is more realistic? Does a person actually have to upload the "new shows" to the system or is it all done automatically by computer?
Adam > I wish I could give you a time frame, as I don't even have one. However, monday does sound reasonable. It could be a problem of us not getting the content from the station yet. or something happened to the content before we actually got it.
Adam > I can only speculate at this point
William > OK.... thanks. Will someone be calling me with an explanation tomorrow? I have a feeling that this is probably an error on Comcast New England, since the rest of the country had the new content on Thursday night. My daytime number is XXX-XXX-XXXX
Adam > We only do chat support, but I will be adding note to the account explaining our conversation. As more information is given to me I will be happy to let you know.
William > Ok thanks. Have a good night....
Adam > Thank you William. Have a good night as well.

I have Comcast in the South Suburbs of Chicago and get timely updates.

I also have Comcast in the DC area and there isn't even a Film Festival category on my On demand. What the fuck?
I have the latest daily shows and the best of last week - so where the fuck is the Film Festival??
That's the only reason I subscribed to Howard On Demand, and it's nowhere to be seen on my system.
I guess I'll have the chat with customer service on Monday as well.

Some people have said that the "Film Festival" stuff is under a category called "The Vault". So you might want to check to see if you have that.

But I have Comcast in Boston and I click "Howard Stern" and then "Film Festival". But stilll no movies in there.....
GangstaStern
I'm telling you, unplug your comcast cable box and WAIT 10 minutes. Then plug it back in but don't turn it on for another 20 minutes.

I did this (thanks to a tech guy at Comcast) and suddenly I had ALL the content. The box redownloads the guide information (which it may have somehow missed before).

Try it. Granted, my Comcast had all the content in their offices and we couldn't understand why it wasn't making it to my box. So, call them and ask them to look under Howard Stern on their system and compare their guide info to yours. If neither of you have the latest stuff, then you're hosed. But if they have stuff that you don't, try the UNPLUGGING method as described above.

Best of luck.

I called this morning and did the same thing. Got the daily shows from last week but no film festival (no vault). It's now noon on Monday and still no film festival. They put me through to someone else (Comcast No. Virginia) and they told me they didn't have the film festival shows yet to load onto the menu. WTF! They said they were working on getting them and would load them as soon as they could.
BTW, it wasn't just unplugging/plugging back in the box. They had to send a new signal out. If this has to be done every friggin' week to update, I'm cancelling for sure.

I tried that, several times, it didn't work.. comcast is just retarded.

Just an update as of 830pm monday night i hav the 4/27 show, the winner or the film fest. and the staff subs. I'm still not getting 4/24-4/26 not best of the week, nor the rest of the FFSs.

Joanna (Mon May 1 21:01:48 EDT 2006)>Well, they're available on the test box, which means the server has loaded these programs. Have you tried resetting the box by unplugging it for half a minute and then plugging it back in? This forces the box through a download cycle.
Jeremy(Mon May 1 21:02:07 EDT 2006)>not tonight
Joanna (Mon May 1 21:04:09 EDT 2006)>Wel, that's certainly something you could try, although because your box has to re-load the menu there's no way to know whether that's worked for about five minutes. I can go ahead and schedule a technician to come out and take a look at this if you would like.

Wow. Good chat. You explained it all very well.

Hopefully the unplugging works. I think it should. If they have it on their test unit, how could we both not have it??? I'll let you know when I check it around 10pm.

Do you think other MA people are having this problem and just don't care? Shouldn't more people be posting here? We can't be the only 2 MA people on SFN....
DamageInc537
apparently not.. I unplugged the box while the roomie was on a butt break.. I'm gonna check now see if there is anything good to report

still no answer from them as to why we're getting dicked around on this

Friggin A!

Just tried and still no luck! The unplug thing didn't work. How could this be??? Your in Cambridge, I'm in Newburyport and we're having the same EXACT problem???

I'm posting in the General Discussion thread to see if there are others in MA that are getting all the shows. It will probably be moved back to the HowardTV section...but it's worth a try. :afs:

Adam > One moment please while I look up some information for you.
Jeremy > ok
Jeremy > I also never recieved Jaime Lynn and Cassia Riley which was supposed to be loaded almost a month ago
Adam > Jeremy I show that the ticket is still open and is currently being worked.
Jeremy > ok
Jeremy > what are we gonna do about this?
Adam > Need to wait for the ticket to be resolved. We do have technicians working on the issue right now.
Jeremy > I pay $13 or $14 a month for a service thats supposed to be updated on a regular basis
Jeremy > i'm not the only one with this problem.. i know several people are experiancing similar issues
Adam > Jeremy I do apologize, but as I said we do have technicians working on the issue right now.
Jeremy > and i understand that... but right now that not an answer that satisfies me.
Jeremy > I've unplugged the box , had one or ur co-workers send a reboot signal
Adam > I do apologize but that is all the information I have at this time
Jeremy > 4 months ago I had a tech @ my house and he changed EVERY connection on my system
Jeremy > is there a number for the regional VOD service
Jeremy > i want to call them and see if I can get some real answers
Adam > Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Jeremy > or atleast a manager?
Jeremy > Give me a managers phone number please
Adam > Jeremy I understand it is frustrating. I wish there was someting else I could tell you but I just do not have any more information at this time and won't until they complete the work on the issue.
Jeremy > good.. then give me a number where I can reach a manager, or the Regional VOD
Adam > One moment please.
Jeremy > thank you
Adam > You're welcome.
Craig > Good evening Jeremy, I apologize for the delay. My name is Craig. How may I assist you tonight with this On Demand issue?
Jeremy > i want a PHONE NUMBER for a manage or the Regional VOD service.. i'm sick of being told it's "being worked on" i would like to speak to some one on the phone
Jeremy > i want a REAL ANSWER
Craig > Unfortunately we are an eletronic care avenue and communicate using computers. I can assist you via chat this evening if you will bear with me, however if you wish to escalate this issue over the phone you will need to call us at 1-800-COMCAST to speak to someone in our Call Centers regarding this problem.
Jeremy > how can you assist me when 5 other reps have not been able to?
Craig > Jeremy the Real Answer is that our On Demand team is investigating the issue. I can follow up on this directly on your behalf tomorrow as they have gone home for the night already and have someone contact you tomorrow with the details of the issue.
Craig > Jeremy, this issue has been escalated to me by Adam this evening. I will take a personal stake and trying to fix it, or at least find out the root cause of the issue and tell you what is really going on.
Jeremy > thats not going to cut it at the moment, thak you for your time I'm going to place a call to the call center
Jeremy > thank you again for you time and have a good evening
Craig > I apologize that we could not assist you further via chat tonight. Have a pleasant evening.
Adam > Customer has closed chat and left the room

Edit: Comcast is sending a tech out on friday (because of my busy sched.) and they credited me for a month ($9.99). now it may be a bad reciever, Wtango you may want to look into that. On the bright side, the rate hike that was supposed to happen on April 1st from $9.99 to $13.99 hasn't taken effect now, the only good news I have gotten about this situation.

I went through the call center and, eventually, I got someone with a brain. The trick might be to call the call center and insist on speaking with an employee who is familiar with the OnDemand channel for Stern specifically.
DamageInc537
Gangsta any decent resolution?
bethhasfakeboob
I suggest writing an email to your local cable provider. I did that and it seems like I am getting everything updated very timely now. For example a Thursday show will be posted by Saturday just like Doug Goodstein indicates. Note, I am in Baltimore County in Maryland.

Yeah, I'm sorry, he sent out a new signal a few times, and it finally worked. He suggested I unplug the unit and wait awhile, then wait 20 minutes before turning it back on.

In my case, this worked.

Tried the unplug thing. And still missing the 9 Finalists and the Daily Shows from last week here in Newburyport, MA. Looks like most of the Massachusetts Comcast providers have NOT recieved all the shows from Howard TV (or at least that's what they are saying).

Go to this thread to see ATOM12's responses. He works for Comcast and is trying to help us figure it all out.

Please help. I live in Chicago and have Cumcast and today 03May06 the Richard waxing and JJ episodes were uploaded.
Is my Cumcast accurate or behind, because the Richard waxing was months ago.
Thanks

I had a hard time getting the service in the DC area, (actually Alexandria, Virginia) but after ordering a single episode at $7.99 after a Service tech explained that was what Comcast offered in my area, and many phone calls,..I finally have the monthly service, and it seems to have all of the current content. I was also refunded the initial $7.99 and was told the Monthly is $9.99 until further notice, (the rep said that she saw a memo that all new subscriptions were to be $13.99 but it still came up at the old price for at least the remainder of May 2006). She told me that there is a lot of poor communication WITHIN COMCAST in reguards to the monthly service. My initial inquiry about Howard TV Monthly subscription, was answered by having me turn to the ON DEMAND channel,..selecting EVENTS and SPECIALS,..selecting UNCENSORED TV,..where I found 2 Howard programs, and 10+ episodes of Jerry Springer uncensored. Luckily, as I mentioned, I eventually got it all sorted out, and I kust hope that anyone with the same issue doesn't give up, and any Stern fans who are working at Comcast please inform your co-workers of what's up!

I got some stuff in last night, but not everything

we'll see what happens tonite after the tech comes..

So the Tech came out today and there was not a thing he could do for me cuz EVERYTHING that i was missing appeared today. I'm finally up to date, it only took a week. I'm gonna keep an eye on it in the future, and I will be the most vocal muthah-truckah ever if they delay any updates.

WTango, any luck up in your neck of the woods?

Just read your last post tonight (Friday 5/6).

Nothing yet for me! I'm gonna try the unplug thing tonight and see if that works. Do you have the new daily shows from this week too?
wtango
I just unplugged/plugged my box and it worked! I got all the shows I was missing from last week! Thanks for all your help.

HOWEVER.... The Daily Shows still are not updating as fast as other people seem to be getting them. Many people are talking about the J.J. Abrams HTV show from Monday. And the only Daily Show that I have from this week "05/03 Amy Miller". That's Wednesday's show! I don't have 05/01, 05/02, 05/04, 05/05.

Do you have these on your system?

I have comcast, and am yet to have any problems whatsoever. I have atleast 1 new show up everyday. The new show(s) always show up at midnight...never before.

I'm a Comcast tech out of Philly and I live in South Jersey. My On Demand hasn't updated since the 30th. There is nothing a tech can do to fix it. You can try unplugging the box which has worked for some or you can call Comcast and ask them to "hit" the box. The Jersey office told me that it's a "head end" issue and they are aware of it and trying to fix it. This is the first time that they had something on demand that needs to be updated everyday and I guess they are still trying to work the bugs out. I hope they do it quick because so far they suck at it!

i am having the same issue with content being updated as must of you here. I live in south jersey and have received an email from HSTV that they are working on this issue with comcast, at least the are aware of the problem.

what i was wondering is if anyone of you have notice that there seems to be more broadcast, both tv shows and commercials that are in letterbox format (black border on top & bottom of tv screen). i bring this up here only because i notice this began the same day i stopped receiving updated content fron HSTV. so iam wondering if there is a biiger issue with comcast not just with updates.
