Me personally I don't know who any of these guys are and I never watch racing but I like the way they (Bubba and guests etc.) describe the technical side of things in a down to earth manner. Basically I don't know shit about professional racing but cars interest me. In case anyone cares... |

I've lived in the Chicago area my entire life and never had Carson's Ribs. Hell, there was one in my own damn hometown and I never went.
I did go to Harvey an awful lot to this amazing little rib joint called George's and that place is the bomb-diggity best of ribs. It's a little dicey of a neighborhood, and you'd be crazy to be white and there past 10PM, but goddamn! |

Most of my jobs have offered no benefits...no vacation days, no sick days, no personal days and rarely any insurance...and retirement? You're on your own.
My jobs of late have been in management so I'm usually on salary and get health insurance. Still no sick/personal/vacation days. Sometimes I take a vacation and sometimes I get paid. Welcome to the life of a chef. It ain't what you see on TV.. :D

I packed up the iron years ago when I buzzed most of my hair off....it's still in my bathroom closet in case I change my mind.

Pastries...I cooked for five years but that heat really ages your face. I much prefer the title of 'sugar chef'.
If you work in the corporate, academic, or country club field, they offer you full benefits. Even if you're just washing the dishes and taking out the trash. But those jobs are hard to come by and you don't get many opportunities "to do or work with the fancy shit". When you're feeding hundreds of people three meals a day, you have to give up that creativity in order to please everyone. So a lot of us go there to retire when we're ready to have a life.
The plus side of this business is that I could go anywhere in the world and find a job. I've met a handful of celebrities and been put up in some ritzy pads and experienced a life that I could never afford. So, in the end, I'd say it's worth it. Just don't jump into it without a back-up plan...:hw:
