what do you think the democratic hierarchy would be screaming about if dem congressman Willam Jefferson was instead a member of the REPUBLICAN party.

would they be calling for a suppression of evidence??

or would they be calling the new york times, meet the press, face the nation begging to pose for the cameras and trot out the standard party line of "CULTURE OF CORRUPTION", and any other wordings of their position that only republicans are evil and destroying this country

Hastert said the same thing... The search was the first of it's kind in 219 years...

Gimme a fuckin break.
You can't lump a guy in a Sentra doing 65 in a 55 to a Testarossa doing 105 in a 35.
2 different things.
A certain level of corruption is a given in any government because ultimately, humans are fallible. That being said, Democrats aint got nothing on Republicans' shrewdness at getting illegal money and gifts.
Investigations should follow the letter of our laws, since they are what bind us together as the greatest nation in the history of mankind. When politics is injected into legal investigations, look out, because the backwards slide will take us down, baby.

Abba is right!

We are a nation of laws.

Won't matter now since Bush sealed all items taken during the search.

I find it interesting that the White House would hold back items that the rest of Congress is demanding to be given back.

Oh Wait.. its happened before... Rep. & Dem White Houses...

Two bad 2/3 of the governemtn thought it was ok to search the office.

It's not quite that simple. You have one branch of government sicking a government law enforcement agency on another. That could get sticky. I'm not saying Jefferson didn't DESERVE to be investigated, but why was there no raid on Cunningham or DeLay offices? Alot of this is theater...

You see Jefferson did not turn over documents as requested by a Grand Jury. The FBI (one brach of government--falls under the Executive brach) sought a warrent. They had a Federal Judge (The Judicial Brach) sign off on the warrant. There is no Constitutional crisis here. It's just bad the Republicans had to defend a Democrat.

Pelosi also asked for jefferson to resign from Ways and Means committee. Nobody is defending Jefferson.
