I'd be interested to hear what it's like getting consents from the people they call or even to hear the tapes of it!

I agree, I always wondered how they do that. I guess they say, hey can I give you $500 bucks to use that phoney phone call. I wonder what they paid for the following phone calls:
Karlove
Clocks shop
mikes tires
Brian Keene
Great idea! I'd love to hear a behind-the-scenes story on how 'victims' are selected and what legal measures the staff has to take to gain consent to play the calls.
OneRissa
Yeah!!!! I would love to hear those call backs to get their approval...

Especially that Hillbillie Granny who wanted to shove her shotgun up the ass. hahaha

i hate the phony phone calls. it is illegal to record someone without their consent first.

of course, the george takei /ricardo call sure sounds real, so i wonder how they worked that...

either way,the calls are bullcrap and they're not even funny. it's beneath the show's reputation to do them at all- it's very Z100.
TokinHeavy
I have wondered about that to, some people on the net say that most of the stern prank calls are fake, I dont think they are.

Put George Flowers on it!

I think you can record the person however you can not replay the conversation that is where you break the law....
Garygantzdotcom
you can replay and record..its the intent of the call....you have to get a release to make money on them but if you just play them you can contact them third party ..as long as 2 of the partys know of the recording..just can't be used in a judical action...
LUNDiS
as far as i know, in new york state, if you do not tell the other party that the phone is being recorded, it is completely inadmissible in court. however, if they have permission (im sure they record this) to use the recording from the 2nd party, they are within their full legal rights to do so...im sure some people get paid off for it.

I talked to Sal back stage at the Cleveland show last year, and he said the one of the hardest consents to get was the "My turbin is dirty" call.
He said that the only reason they got the consent was, the owner of the store they were calling was a fan of the show.
Brian Keene
The news team is doing a story today on this subject (according to Lisa G). Thanks to them for responding to listener feedback.
thefuss
Yeah i thought that was great that they did the story.
efue
