I was thinking all I need was this Dual RCA Female Adapter (picture below) and plug it into the aux port in the back of the sound card

do i have to run it thru something like real player? anything to configure on the computer?

I need some help. I was wondering if the great minds of SFN can help me out. Thanks!

I have the Starmate replay

All you need is a wire with 3.5 mm plugs at each end. One end goes in the line out from your receiver, the other into the input jack on your computer.

and i assume that last cable is also what you need to connect to an mp3 player/recorder.

anything with a headphone slot can be connected to a computer with that cord...

just be aware of the fact that most likely your computer's microphone will record/play in mono, not stereo.... most sound cards are shit... consider investing in a new one, or just hook up your sirius radio directly to your computer speakers...

didn't mutt post a program that hooked up to the computer that recorded in mp3 form and stuff????

well, you can always use the FM transmitter (built in) to transmit the signal to your main stereo in your living room if you want a full rich sound to it, bass and all.

I use both. I actually have a radio in my bathroom and my sirius transmits to it while i shower. its great.

that's what I do as well. and if I need to walk around the house (laundry in basemant, etc) I use my walkman. works great! i can get signal two houses away! and the radio is on the second floor!

actually I was thinking of recording to an mp3 player (like an iRiver) when I eventually get one. not only do those things have FM installed, I should be able to record via the cable. I hope!

I have my Sirius radio's output going into my computer's line in jack so it will come out of my pc speakers and I don't have to keep switching plugs between the radio and my computer.

This is one of the most informative thread I have read in awhile. Lots of great ideas. A couple I am looking into personally.

Thanks-A-Million

Yes, you can. I have the 20GB iRiver which works beautifully. I store a lot of shows on it and plug it into my bedroom stereo when I want to listen to random replays.

Do to the fact that our work computers come with no options I don't believe I have a true "Line-in" plug. Should it work if I plug it in to the microphone plug? How about anyone of the basic three back there? Thanks!!

Can I copy files from the S50 to my PC? I downloaded the Sirius PC software and can see the files on the S50 when I plug it into the PC USB port. I can't figure out how to play or move files on the S50.

Thanks for your help.

Nope, you cannot copy from the S50 to the PC. That is an RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America) requirement for this device, otherwise they will sue Sirius for copyright issues.

Thanks boombox. Then how are people recording to the iRiver and puting it on their computer?

Sorry for my lack of technical knowledge. I am new to this.

one of the reasons I want to get an iRiver is that when connected to a computer it's seen simply as a removeable drive. so, just copy the mp3 from the iRiver to your HD. no special software.

yippy, skippy. :dancing:

I plug my Sirius Calypso into the Creative X-Fi sound card. The Creative software let's you record the input. I try to record the show every day for 5 hours at 128 kb/s. The show ends up being about 200 MB.

I use Total Recorder. Works perfect! Records the sound coming thru your soundcard and rips it to an mp3. Then I load it on my ipod and away I go!

its on some other threads.... some of these are flash type recorders.... and have built in FM receivers.... put your sirius device on fm transmitter and the mp3 recorder can pick it up....
others require an fm tuner in order to record it... i only have Iriver stuff so im not aware how to do it on apples ipods....
note: for archive use only....

My speakers have a cable that plug into my headphone jack. I just plug that into the Sirius dock and I have decent speakers for it.

The BEST way to connect Sirius to your computer is to use a SIR-ALP1 radio (which is designed to connect to Alpine head units in your car) and replace the Alpine interface with this Sirius to USB Interface. Then you can use Sirius Recorder software to control your Sirius radio. With this setup you can schedule recordings which automatically set the ID3 tags, and control your radio from the web (set up recordings from work with your radio at home). With a plugin you can even stream your Sirius on the web (this *might* be a solution to all the dropout sirius.com has had lately).

I use the radio and USB interface along with a custom program to make these images:

and to power this very useful now playing page:

and to fill the database behind this page that allows you to search Sirius playlists:
