| Just remember that it's the lifetime of the unit. If the unit breaks you have to pay $75 dollars to tranfer your account to a new one. |
|
|
| dandmb50 |
yeah thats kinda sleasy, lifetime is only for the unit not for the lifetime of the human person. Very deceaving.
I considered it until I found out it's just for the lifetime of the actual radio. |
|
|
| UnderToad |
Other points... It is still worth it assuming that the unit lasts more than 41 months; Your second subscription (monthly) is discounted; If your unit breaks within the one year warranty, there is no transfer fee; You are limited to three transfers (not including warranty, and I think stolen unit swaps).
Spent to date: $500 Subscription; $80 Starmate Replay; $50 home kit; $30 for a radio for my office to tune in the signal; $30 second car antenna; $100? boom box (it was a gift, so I don't know the exact amount) = $790 ... ouch :( |

I think the lifetime subscription is a great deal.
I purchased my Dodge truck with built in Sirius.
Got a 1 year free subscription.
I upgraded to a lifetime subscription for only $357.
They took off $142 (the price of my 1 year subscription) off the $499 price.
I am able to switch radios 3 times in the future, for $75 each time.
That's a total of 4 radios.
I'm 42 years old.
If I get 7 years out of each of the four radios.
That's 28 years.
I'll be 70 fucking years old, when my lifetime subscription runs out.
Total cost in 28 years: $150 (switching fees)
$357 (original cost)
That's a total of $507, for 28 years.
Or: $18.10 per year
$1.50 per month
$ .05 per day
GREAT FUCKING DEAL!
THANK YOU SIRIUS! |

I totally agree with you. When I got my lifetime sub, the rep told me I had three free switches, then it was $75 each time after that. Well, I found out today that's not true. I bought the Sportster 4 and was going to register it, but I realized the AC adaptor for the home kit I was using doesn't work with this unit. I called tech support and the guy told me the home kit for this unit isn't available yet, then he also told me it would cost me $75 to add the Sportster 4 and it would be one strike against my acct. Bottom line, I'm returning the Sportster 4 tomorrow and sticking with the XACT replay for now. I was completely mislead when I got this plan. If I had known it was three switches @ $75 each, then you're done, I would never have done it. Even if the unit is defective, that's a strike against you. That's according to the guy I talked to earlier. |

The whole issue of $75 bucks to transfer a radio doesn't seem to make it worth it.
I've gone though two radios so far, so that would have been one $75 transfer fee (I got a Clarion NICE in car navigation system with Sirius built in). And I assume somewhere down the line I'd like to upgrade to a S50 or whatever new cool receiver they have out then...
I just have a feeling if I get a lifetime subscription I'll be stuck with a shitty radio in the end or lose money. |

| The $75 fee sucks, but who says that you can't tell a fib and say that your unit was stolen and upgrade without the fee. Also, who knows when the next price increase will be, so you will not have to worry about it. |

| Don't forget that with that Lifetime sub, you get an online sub with it. |

Do they actually do that for free? I'd figure like most companies they would figure out a way to charge you for it somehow. |

Is that for hardware only or does it work for subscriptions as well? |
|

these codes have got to be hardware only.
but it wouldn't hurt to try and apply them to a cart w/ a subscription also.
(i doubt they would work for subscription service) |

So the lifetime subscription didn’t expire on July 31st go figure?
The subscription page says "Offer ends January 31, 2007. Hurry!"
The 75 dollar deal is the only hold back... but if i can put it off for another year maybe sirius will lower that? |
|
|
| Mikeysea |
| Also remember that this $75 fee can only be used 3 times i believe. Maybe its a year. |

| I bought a lifetime sub on a sirius sanyo radio when it broke sirius just switched my sub to the new radio no charge, if you decide to buy a new radio or upgrade than you pay the $75 but if your radio craps out they will switch it to the new one free. Lifetime is the way to go I also get a discount on my other 2 radios cause of the subscription. |

LIfetime is worth it
499.99/ 12.95 per month = 38 months or (3 years 2 months) till you break even. After that its saved money.
Stern is going to be on for at least 5 years plus you got the NFL and everything else. NO brainer. |
