Why has it been for each day the past three weeks, my Sirius signal keeps popping in and out? Anyone else have this problem? It's prominent usually the first hour of the show.

I've never had a problem with my signal.

I have one of those Xact Visor p-n-p units, with the antenna on the roof, basically pointing straight up, which was the absolute best reception I could get when I installed it in January. Pissing me off... :rpo:

Yeah I have that problem. At night no signal around 9PM; Sirius equipment, antenna, etc., in the exact same location. Yet come morning I turn on the radio and get an instant signal. Then around an hour or so into the show I lose it again.

Euless,TX ....Same here.

And this is one of the better discussions I've heard (mostly) recently, about the 9/11 widows, and it's dropping in and out...time to contact Sirius...
tommyp
Here's the funnier thing...no break-ups during commercials.

I haven't looked any info up yet, but it's possible there has been an increase in solar activity cause I've been having some anomolies lately too.

I'm in NYC and the same thing has been happening to me lately. Choppy.

Has anyone noticed the following:

1. The NYC area has been covered by rainclouds for the past week!

2. It's spring! The leaves are out in full force.
tommyp
Countering...

Yes, I think the leaves play a part in it (the clouds don't), but right now, I've had a clear run for the last half hour; also, like I said, the commercials in the first hour ran right through, with no interruptions. As soon as they were back from commercial, the disruptions occurred again.

Call Sirius and tell them exactly this. It may be signal problems specific to the show. Who knows.

The reason the signal strength changes, is that the 3 satellites are always moving so you can have good reception at one point and none at all in a couple of hours.

My signal has been in and out as well, but only in heavily "treed" areas.

Hey Boombox, do you think that it possibly might be a bandwidth issue? I know it sounds odd... That so many people are listening at the same time that the satellites can't handle the overload?

I mean if so, that's a good problem, and I hope they get another satellite up there yesterday. :D

No, it doesn't work like that, i.e. many people listening at the same time doesn't overload the satellites. Reception issues are caused by other things, from antenna location, to faulty cables/connectors, to weather, etc.

Its been happening to me online alot lately. I listen to it at work and it keeps cutting in and out

Occasionally I will have that problem when I am in the car, but I just usually adjust the position of the antenna and it clears it up.

I live in Cali and for the past month or so my Sirius loses the signal at about 1:38 PM and doesnt regain the signal until around 3:15 PM. I have 2 antenna's both positioned on the roof and get perfect reception. until this last month, Anybody else have these kind of problems?
