| i liked the explanation today, the whole reason it works is because g.f. is so straight laced~ he's a good counter-balance to the show. I mean how funny is it that there is some dude there who's job it is to find a story about Scott's bad lungs? or make a ride on the sybian sound valid? Or try to get all the fat fucks like Benji on a diet and exercise plan!! I think Gary went too far, but whatever he had to bitch. I personally do not even listen to the news, so I like when I get to hear George on the show. |

George can be disgusted that's his business and all, and I can see how Howard finds his straight laced personality entertaining.
But Gary has a point, it's his job and how he puts food on the table. No one wants to spend time around someone on the job who thinks your life's work is a bunch of crap and feels the need to let you know it every day. |

| He is a good talent but his attitude is a shock. The show has evolved to the point where Howard is the one that has to put on the brakes, that is as it should be. To have someone bringing morale down with moral judgments...that is not his call to make, it is us, the fans and Howard, no one else. The fact that this came out in the open is either a precursor of something else coming down the pipe or George needs to realize that we have heard this kind of moral condemnation for years, obviously since we chose to pay 12.95 per month to hear Howard, we either think the moral condemnation is total fucking hypocritical bullshit or we are all satan worshippers, either way, we are the ones paying the bills. That part seems to have been completely missed by him in the discussion with Gary that ensued. |

I didn't hear the remarks that inspired this thread. In general, I agree with Calabrio. I like how Flowers' struggles to maintain his professionalism while the Roman orgy churns on around him. It's endearing. |

Gary has a hard eob keeping all the other monkeys in line to get the show running correctly, with out a new employee voicing his newgative opinion all the time.
George needs to let the appoligy stand and say nothing else from here on out and play the game when in the studio as he has in the past.
Howard News Team needs George still to make the team legit. Currently there are only two news worthy reporters, George and LisaG that make the whole team news worthy. Penny, & Shuli push the team too much into the Sal and Richard end of the lunacy.
Don't get me wrong, l like Penny and Shuli, but they both tend to be less likely to be taken seriously then LisaG and George. |

How cool is it that even a respectable and/or professional news reporter (such as George) is working on the Howard news team.. Not everyone has to suck Howards cock!
I think that it's great to have him there,, to umm,, remind Howard and crew -- just in case everyone gets a big head about what groundbreaking material they are doing and how great the show is,, that for the most part this show is a 5 year old boys wetdream of being able to still get away with potty humour 10 decades later.
Why should Howard occasionally (obsessively) check in with SFNetwork for updates on what parts of his show sucks (or doesn't suck), he could take a look at George's face when he comes in for the news.
Why not have George F sit in an entire day--just like George Takei,, and see how far Howard can go to push Flowers buttons... It could be a new game! 'Pick George's petals' you can take bets how long george would last in the studio :) |

i love penny and the rest. I was really disappointed to hear him voice his opinion on the shows content. before, he was an unbiased observer, and now... well we all know his opinions on the content.
i hope they don't get rid of the newsteam. i think it's a great idea, and it has great potential for sponsorship stuff: IE newsteam takes heinie premium light out on the streets and does a street test of it, or gets stern staffers opinions on the beer, or interviews stern staffers to see if they make bets on uwager.com, etc.
i'm disappointed they let go newsteam members: but remember, they all work for sirius so they probably just went somewhere else in the company (SPA 73 or someshit like that) |

George Flowers has to go. Today he totally slowed down the wrap up show and instead of the guys talking about what happened on the show today and allowing a few people to call the show, we got to hear the guys explaining how the show works to George. It sucked. Thankfully they got him there after 10 minutes or so then Sal went off on his views on racism which is gold.
But anyway, George just doesn't understand the show. He thinks the show is somewhat racist or at least that the show allows racism to happen without anyone putting it down. Everyone was disagreeing with his annoying point of view, which is usually what we hear from people who never listen to the show.
I liked him cuz of his deep voice before Howard and the crew arrived at Sirius in January, but slowly he's become more and more annoying, and today he really was pissing me off...
I'm glad Steve Langford is coming in for the previews during the show instead of him. |

George Flowers and High pitch Mike ( the uptight guy who let the transvestite sit above his face) needed jobs so I can't blame them for applying to work in the Howard 100 newsroom.
I would however look closely at whoever hired them - because neither of them really fit. howard has been able to use them for material I guess, but even so...
I could probably work with George - even though he is condescending and that has to get old really quickly.
However Mike seems extremely repressed and bitter. He needs to read some philosophy and travel more. I would recommend a psychiatrist, except that I have a similar view of them to Tom Cruise. On the other hand I do have to say that Howard's expensive non-drug-prescribing guy seems to have worked out.
I can understand Howard gaving a soft spot for Penny; she brought some personality to successive press conferences over the years. |

Agreed.
I was listening to a couple of news segments today and the news department needs a rethink about how they are going to present the news.
At the moment, like Cabbie, they are not "in a real space." The news is presented in a supposedly 'jocular' style that comes over as forced and fake.
George was doing an Eric the midget flying with balloons report. He talked about getting "the little fellow" up in the air. I can't imagine anyone finding it interesting or real.
We all know George hates the goofing on Eric and doesn't get the humor in joking about Eric's disabilities. Therefore his fake enthusing over this story that is grossing him out comes over badly.
Penny did a fake interview with Sal in which he insulted her. It was better than George's Eric report but on the whole I think she'd also be better trying to be as real and honest as she can possibly be. The whole premise of the interview was fake as it was about how Sal and Richard were appalled about fellating a dildo and how Howard had threatened to fire them.
The news department needs to talk about real stuff!!!!!!! Five minutes on what breakfast cereal Penny prefers and why could have been made interesting.
I suggest they do a series of different styles of news report so that people can give feedback about the style they find most listenable.
I haven't heard a Lisa G news report but she plays it straight when she is in the studio and that's fine. |
