The recent tension between Gary and George coupled with the mass layoffs of the news staff only highlight the obvious.
Howard 100 news was necessary and a great transitional tool when Howard began at Sirius, but I thinks it's on it's way out. . I predict the entire news team will be gone before the end of the year. The only reason George Flowers even took this gig is that he is 100 years old, his day has come and gone, and he has a face for radio. Ditto for Penny Crone. The news reports dominated the channel at the beginning, now they get 5 minutes at noon and six, and no one is complaining. Update your resumes. Buh bye. :hw: |

| I think they should transformed into a real news team to follow stories and be able to report on real news without censorship. Loosing the news department is a bad idea. Let them do their thing and come up with real non-Howard news. I think they are all talented in their field. I'd still listen to them. |

To me The Wrap up Show is the Howard 100 News and they are both kind of useless. If I need more details I'll leave it to the good folks of SFN to sniff out or research it myself.
Dump both programs , spend the money on a Sirius Summer Tour sponsored by Heineken and Sirius. Sirius Subscribers get discounted tickets, everyone else pays full price. Have about 50 sign up booths around the venues and rock out. |

i agree.they are not funny just stupid now...richard wanting to show his junk to george today was just stupid..i usually laugh at them but lately they are boring and ruin the flow of the show... |

Thats exactly right. They are great at writing , but listening to them lick shit thermometers and all that shit does not amuse me. I can't believe Howard has stood for that shit as long as he had. i hope its not for much longer it takes away from the rest of the show. |

Here is a scheduling idea for the news team.
The show runs for 5 hours.
Half an hour of a wrap up show.
Half an hour of the news.
Stop having the news team in the studio during the show. Instead of having Penny Chrone or George Flowers into the studio to promote the stories they are working on, have them cut short promo clips that can be played during breaks.
If they are gonna make more cut backs to the news department, they should keep Schuli, Steve Langford and Penny Chrone. |

Darn, I saw this thread and thought it was an official announcement the H100 News was over with. I'm in agreement with the vast majority of the posters in the thread. The news is unnecessary and takes away from the content we all want to listen to--THE HOWARD STERN SHOW. Now that Howard has the WXRK tapes back, news is even more of a distraction and takes away from precious time we could be listening to classic moments. Shuli is the only member of the news team that should remain on staff and it sounds like Ferrell has already annexed him on his show so he's taken care of.

They've been downsized, cutback on air-time and constantly subjected to Howard changing his mind about things.

You're probably correct, Adam. Howard tends to listen to us when he thinks we have a good point, but if he thinks we're wrong....well, then he just ignores us or just digs in and goes with what he thinks is right.
Bottom line--every single one of us that dislikes H100 news isn't going to drop Howard or stop listening because of it and he knows that. We may temporarily tune out or bitch, but we're going to remain loyal listeners. |

I really think they should drop the news for two reasons. First reason is because they are wasting money on the news. They could use that money for new talent or even to bring Jackie back. Second because they interrupt the Stern show twice a day to tell me about things I either don’t care about or already know.
The H100 News was great when Howard was still on regular radio because it was dead air without them. It gave us all something to talk about and listen to. We don’t need that now. We have the Stern show and all the other programming. The news isn’t needed.
I say drop the news and use the money to bring back Jackie or just stop interrupting the Stern show. |

it sometimes gives howard a chance to interact with the news team. i liked it when they were talking about artie in Vagas and being followed around by a NEWSGUY. howard obviously enjoys that and when he is having a good time, so do I, generally. |

the way the news is now is a turnoff. and i really dont like it when they come in studio to talk about the news, and if there is one or two interesting things, they say youll have to wait...to when??? the news editions now run throughout the day.
lisa g turns me off because she lacks the most important part of the stern show...honesty...one word...hedonism...ok....another...doesnt remember but maybe one beer
the george flowers and bababooey conflict really turned me off, but the one thing i do like about george is, he always seems to be really honest about everything, and doesnt seem to just kiss howards ass. it seems that george just really likes him, but doesnt like a lot of the topics, sincerely.
if the news does stay, i think it should be shuli, george flowers, and steve langford. shuli because he gets it and he is more one of us than any of the others. flowers because of his experience. langford because he is relentless and he really does get compelling things. langford will spend a weekend with artie, he will hop in a cab with the gangster, riigghttt!!!! elliot offen, and will wait outside of david lee roth's car for a minute interview.
i agree with the onion post. the onion would be great. i think it would be cool if half of the news was onion reports and half of it howard 100 news, then they could get rid of the really lame news stories.
i think that mutt should have an honorary part time position and report on stern fan network news.
all in all, most new things wont happen because of money. unless they get rid of some of the news staff, which i dont feel right to even have an opinion of getting rid of any of the staff. i think the news is ok, and could well go forever on the channels as is, i guess. it is o.k., not excellent. and ok is good enough as an in between for breaks and between shows.
so with the money issue at hand, i dont think they would pay the onion to be able to broadcast the onion news, and i dont think they would pay mutt extra for a part time news gig. look at how long it took to get george takei rhymes with o.k. back in the studio.
