What a monumental screw up by the Democratic "leadership".
Force a vote you know by your own whip count is going to get overwhelmingly defeated and give the Republicans several news cycles of you getting your asses whipped. Its embarrassing. |

i live in mass, and let me tell you, we experimented by letting a republican run our state (mitt romney) and that man fucked up pretty bad. this is a union run state, still, and the dems stand for that. that's a boatload of votes, and i think romney is reminding people why.
btw, romney tried using a law from the 1910's banning interracial marriage as the a last resort to ban gay marriage. he's a scumbag. plus, all the talk about him being propped up for president? he's mormon. considering the religious fear used to run certain parts of this country still, a woman will get elected before a mormon.
i may not be the biggest fan of kerry and kennedy, but it's really our state reps like markey and barney frank that i really admire. frank is one of the smartest guys around, and markey does work to help the people of this state. i may disagree with some of their policies at times, but we all do that from time to time. |

What kind of jackass takes glee in the fact that the inmates are now running the asylum?
The most recent polls found that 53 percent of Americans favored a timetable for withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
Obviously, our elected representatives in Congress are not representing the the wishes of their constituants.
So for now, we shall continue with the republican agenda of weakness and isolation. |

nothing new, however. if you look at the terry schiavo casem for instance. the people overwhelmingly felt the government had no business interfering in the matter, but congress - as well as other elected officials - ignored this. moral crusades normally end in humility. |

The last time I checked the constitution it was Commander in Cheif not Congress in Cheif. The only way to get the troops out of Iraq is to stop sending money supporting the mission. |

As much as I would like to see this whole fiasco over with, I can't go along with Kerry's idea... It simply doesn't make sense.
As I was listening to the news on my way home tonight, I couldn't help but think about the Germans in the 1930's. There must have been some that were like, "Hey :omfg:... we shouldn't have invaded Poland!"... What did they do?
While I'm not exactly comparing Bush to Hitler, at some point I gotta wonder WTF are we gonna do? Bush was fucking wrong to invade Iraq... to what end are we supposed to pretend that we have any business meddling in the politics of the Middle East? :(
All these poor kids getting killed or maimed.... and for what? FOR FUCKING WHAT!?! :mad: |

kerry's resolution was to have a timetable of removal by july 07 - not sure why that's not reasonable - how you been b?

learn to read, robot. the Constitution gives the power to declare war to Congress... further extrapolated by the War Powers Act.
furthermore... the Spending Power is firmly rooted in Congress... sure the President can send the troops wherever he wants... but it doesn't mean the Congress has to pay for it. |

I'm against it primarily because I believe it will defeat any purpose we've had for being there in the first place. If we set a timetable, the insurgents (who are very good at waiting) will simply wait until pull out time... then the shit really hits the fan, quite possibly with Iran at the helm. Iran becoming more powerful is how this situation could get worse...
This war has been one big shit sandwich from jump... trouble is, we made the mess... and we might all just get dirty in the process of cleaning it up... :(

well setting a date for a timetable would likely include milestones to hit in order to make that end date - at this point nothing seems to have changed :( |
