| I have a story for you, I own a communications company which sales and services Two-Way Radios and Business Phone Systems. We rely on incoming trouble calls to keep a steady stream of income. We have been receiving 20+ calls a day from XM users for the past two and a half years. These calls are for problems ranging from activating their radio to a broken unit. We have contacted XM and they basically do not care. On June 21, 2006 we began receiving 200 to 300 XM related calls per hour. One of their customers finally faxed over a copy of the letter that went out and it stated to call in to update their customer information and gave out my companies 800 number. I finally contacted the Assisstant to the Vice President of Customer Care and when I read the letter to her, she laughed!!!! I asked how many of the letters have been sent and she told me she would have to look but appears to have been sent to all 6 million customers! Then she asked if we could share the number. I explained that because we are contracted by state and local Public Safety agencies to answer that line 24 hours a day because we are on call, I could not share that line and also I will not allow them to benefit from their enormous mistake. I told them I would have to contact thousands of customers and re-sticker all of my vehicles, however, I would sale the number to them. They told me no way that they will purchase that number and they can not do anything about the problem. Since that call I have not been able to reach anyone from XM. I only employ 6 people and we are constantly answering their phone calls. I am not yet sure the amount of money our company has lost since the constant bombardment of phone calls but I do know that answering XM's phone calls is all any of my employees have been able to do and I am going insane! Anybody know any good legal representation? |

Holy shit, what a problem.
YOU must have a lawsuit in there some where. But they have very very deep pockets. As much as it is like giving up, I would consider getting a new number and doing whatever it takes for your business to have a new number. I think in the long run it might end up best.
Good luck! |

| Thanks King, However, it's not as easy as that solution sounds. We have been in business since 1949 and I believe we should not suffer the loss of our phone number due to a larger companies mistake. We will see how it plays out however I am not apposed to the fact of redirecting a few calls to the Howard Stern Show! However as of current, we are still giving them the correct number. Our calls have been increasing daily and I do not see it slowing down. |

Pretty much nothing you can do about it.
It was a mistake... There's no legal recourse, aside from maybe a Judge telling XM to inform its customers they're calling the wrong number.
My family runs a courier service out of Florida, and our 800# is printed on Countrywide Home Loan's payoff statements; so when they get their statement and they have a question, they call us. We used to have the problem with a AAA branch in California too. We looked into the legal options and there was nothing we could do... No "Real dammages" is what the lawyer told us.
It sucks, I know. I have to answer phones throughout the night because we have hospitals and blood banks who use us, and nothing pisses you off more than answering a phone at 3 am and hearing "Uh Triple A?" |

| Hows about letting a recorded message tell all the callers to switch to Sirius? You could set it up on a multi mailbox system, telling callers with xm issues to press 2, then have the message explain the solution- that way your legit calls can still get thru- |

| Hire a Mexican or maybe have Sirius make a secret deal with you to pay a Mexican to answer the phones to bad mouth these people and just have him promote Sirius |
