"A national reconciliation plan for Iraq calls for a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops and, controversially, amnesty for insurgents who attacked American and Iraqi soldiers."
link
For some reason I tend to see this shit in black and white.....you shoot at an American or an American Ally and you're a terrorist (since these insurgent fucks are using ied's and car bombs to kill troops I really don't have a very high regard for them).
We should overthrow this country one more time and walk the fuck out. Drop some incendiaries on parliament and leave the rest with a warning, "you flake, you bake".
These fucking tools are just like the Kuwaiti's who were cheering in the streets on 9/11.
The process of thought that makes one believe that loyalty and gratitude can be won by force is bred from a stalker mentality.
Crazytree
the iraqis obviously want us to cut and run... therefore they are terrorist appeasers and must be destroyed.

They have to appease whatever asshole tribe the assholes who attacked American forces are from.

That's basically the politics of it. It sucks to be them, lets go home.

No shit, these fuckers have been tribal minions since the dawn of time.
Here's some more bullshit from the newly elected government:
"The initiatives in the reconciliation plan will not be extended to al-Qaeda, Saddam loyalists or insurgents whose attacks target Iraqi civilians."
link
So let me get this straight, we have American kids languishing in prison awaiting court-martial and possible death peanalties for killing Iraqis, but the Iraqis that were taking cheap shots at our kids get a reprieve?
If we leave, we should only leave behind scorched earth for these fuckers to haggle over. It aint too far from that now. Definately the 'rebuilding' needs to stop.
Crazytree
amnesty is a part of life, unfortunately.

you don't hear Rush Limbaugh demanding that every North Vietnamese that killed an American be sent to Guantanamo.

Rush is loony.
If it's amnesty for them, it's amnesty for us, and all the future us until we get out. There should be ALOT of us, IMO, and ALOT of amnesties to come!
Scorch the hotbeds and bail.
Our guys are good on any battlefield but where our forces really dominate is in total annhilation. Cut Saddam's head off, stake it on a pole and scorch the fucking earth. Tell 'em we'll be back.
See ya in 7 years, When Jeb rigs the election!!!!!

Loyalty and gratitude? The average Iraqi has had his world turned into a pile of rubble... who caused that to happen?

Lemme give you a hint... W

If this happened to America, you can bet your ass I would be cutting off the heads of any and all invaders... And I wouldn't be giving one wet fart what my invaders thought of it!!

Should we be negotiating with the people that are mutilating, decapitating and booby trapping the bodies of American soldiers, or should we "stay the course" and whip these ingrates into a state of America love?

Last I checked, we invaded their country, not the other way around. Some of those guys are fighting a foreign, unprovoked invader. In reality, that makes them freedom fighters.
Just because our boys are involved doesn't change the dynamic one bit. Sorry, but relativism is necessary. You wear a uniform, you're a target, it's that simple.
When they attack civilians, everything should then come off the table.
I truly feel for our troops, since it's not their fault that they got sent to that shithole on a crap mission. But don't blame Iraqis for fighting back against us and our shitty occupation and our phantom reconstruction. Where people had maybe 12 hours a day of electricity, they now have 6, maybe, 3 years after our invasion. Where their perhaps was employement, there's now rampant unemployement. Why don't you go live in Iraq as an average civilian for a couple months and tell us all how much you love the job we're doing there.

Keep feeling for 'em. Just as I thought, this plan is getting shot down before it's even been proposed:

"Iraq amnesty offer upsets U.S. lawmakers"

link

"Members of Congress on Sunday denounced any Iraqi plan that would grant amnesty to insurgents responsible for the deaths of U.S. troops."

Quote of the day:

Michigan Sen. Carl Levin: "For heaven's sake, we liberated that country,"
:lol::funny::lol:

This is like having the girlfriend you wanted to break up with anyhow dumping you first. Do you cut and run, or stick around and argue about it?
I say we beat feet.
Definately pound heads and beat feet, but amnesty for them means amnesty for us, right? Those kids on court-martial should be pardoned first.

I don't think I mentioned this before but my wife _lived_ in Baghdad for 5 years in the early 80's. Know what? She went to a Disco every Saturday night at a big hotel in downtown Baghdad.
She _walked_ there from where she lived and _Never_ had a problem and no, she's not an Iraqi and even looks like one...

That's right, a great big disco that was packed with people dancing and having a great time. Women wore makeup, there were schools, universities, museums, hospitals and guess what again? The power was on 24/7 and never went out. Iraq was once a model of a secular First World country in the heart of the Middle East. Of all the countries we had to invade, we chose Iraq...

Yeah, but no one threw any flowers. Ya ever think a lot of those people didn't _want_ to be "liberated?"

If that's what it takes to pacify the public in Iraq and get those people to stop shooting at us, I'm all for it. Let the fucking Iraqi's decide what they want to do with Iraq. After all, they are supposed to be a sovereign nation now.
Abba
supposed to be.
