Internet Model Convicted of Public Nudity

LINCOLN, Neb. - A local woman who operates a porn Web site with a history of arrests for public nudity was convicted Thursday on the same charge.
Melissa Harrington, 23, of Lincoln, was found guilty of indecency under the city’s public decency ordinance and now faces up to eight months in jail when she is sentenced on Aug. 2, according to KETV-TV.
Harrington is known for her porn Web site, www.melissamidwest.com which features public nudity and girl on girl porn.
Police said the woman was arrested after she conducted a wet t-shirt ordinance in a local bar while topless last March.
Harrington told the court she was not nude since her areolas and nipples were covered with pink paint.
But a Lancaster County judge said the paint did not properly cover her because it was transparent.
Prosecutors said she violated a section of the city ordinance prohibiting the “showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering on any part of the areola and nipple.”
In 2003, Harrington gained notoriety when she was first arrested for violating Lincoln’s public decency ordinance when she posted topless photos of herself on her Web site. That incident landed Harrington on a number of media outlets including NBC’s Tonight Show, CNN, USA Today and scores of other television stations and newspapers.
She subsequently appeared in layouts on magazines like Maxim, FHM, Playboy and others. She was named Gallery magazine’s Girl Next Door of the Year in 2004. |

ridiculous. Does Nebraska have nothing better to do with their time in the court system? Then again, at least Nebraska didn't close down the state like NJ did.
I hope this poor woman does not have to serve any time.
(see thread in Gen Chat). So it seems it's not only the midwest states that are f'd up. Some east coast states have issues as well. Since when does a state just "shut down"?
Corzine signs order closing N.J. gov't

TRENTON, N.J. - Gov. Jon S. Corzine closed the state government Saturday amid a bitter dispute with fellow Democrats in the Assembly over his plan to increase the sales tax, threatening to shutter beaches, parks and possibly casinos in the coming days.
The state lottery and road construction were among the first state services expected to be closed.
After Saturday's constitutional deadline to adopt a new balanced budget passed without agreement, Corzine signed an executive order just after 9:30 a.m., a grim climax to weeks of budget squabbling among Democrats who control state government but haven't been able to agree on a budget bill.
Services such as state police, prisons, mental hospitals and child welfare would keep operating. The casinos could be forced to close because they require state monitoring, though the casino industry is challenging a possible closure in court.
The dispute centers on Corzine's determination to raise the state sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent to help close a $4.5 billion budget deficit.
Corzine sees the increase as a vital step toward providing reliable annual revenue, but most Democrats in the Assembly — the lower house of the state Legislature — and several Senate Democrats say the plan is unnecessary. |

I lived in Omaha, Nebraska for 3 years while in the USAF. That state is by far the most conservative state in all of America, its like the Bible Belt of the Northern Midwest. I'm not surprised at all by this as far as Melissa getting arrested and subsiquently railroaded :mad:
I REALLY think she needs to get out of Nebraska myself, in Iowa (about 60 miles away from Lincoln, NE) they'll let about anything fly and I think she'd be okay there. Even though Iowa is probably the biggest steaming pile of horseshit for a state, they have some wild strip clubs :D |

| She said on her website that they'll be a long appeal process so i'm sure melissa midwest gonna be ok for awhile. Still hate it though when it seems the whole community she's in is against her. Jail sucks- but going to jail over what material is covering you in a bar is just assinine. |
