| I'm biased but I say Bird. I say he is superior because he did so much with so few natural gifts aside from height. He wasn't fast, couldn't jump and yet he worked to become one of the all time greats. |

Magic could take to the hoop. pass like a motherfucker.
Bird was a great shooter from the outside. and was great defender.
Different types of players mostly. both equally great.
Those were some great days of B-Ball |

I'll say Bird |

| My Dad was a huge fan of Bird's because he liked his white dominance over the black guys in the NBA. We had to watch about every Celtic game here in Nebraska with our illegal satellite dish, so I was a huge fan of Bird's too. I do like Duane Wade and Lebron James because I think they are really good level-headed kids who give the youth of America including the kids their age someone to look up to. |

| That's a tough one... Different types of players, both awesome. I think Magic has the edge because he could play any position - hell, he even won a championship as a rookie playing center in place of Kareem (42 points, 15 boards, seven assists and three steals) - yes it was only one game, but no rookie will ever repeat that kind of performance. Not to mention he was a 6'9" point guard, which was unheard of. The terms "triple double" and "showtime" were invented because of Magic. |

| There is a difference between very good players and great players, there are alot of good players, but very few great players, but Bird and Magic were great, once you reach that level, no reason to argue who is better. |

ask isiah thomas.
In 1987, Bird, himself, was the victim of a racial shot. Former Pistons Dennis Rodman and Isiah Thomas ignorantly said that if Bird were black, he’d be just another player. |

That is such an asinine statement, and there are literally dozens of stats and games that can be pointed to that disprove that. One such set of stats are Bird's rookie year, where his stats were 21.3 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 4.5 apg, 143 steals, 58 three-pointers. The Celtics improved by 32 games to a 61-21 record (from 29-53 the year before) - and this was BEFORE Robert Parish and Kevin McHale joined the team! The year after those guys arrived Bird still had 20/10 stats - in fact, for his career he averaged 24.3 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 6.3 apg. You know how many players achieved 20/10/5 last year? NONE! Only 1 player (Kevin Garnett) matched Bird's rookie numbers last year for PPG, RPG and ASP. And only 4 players averaged 20 PPG/10 RPG last year... Clearly Thomas is an asshole. |

| Magic! He would do whatever it took to win. Played every position at one time or another and made others around him that much better. True team mentality. |

| Tough pick' I think they both did great things, but I think Bird did it all with less talented teammates. Not saying that Magic could'nt have done the same, but he did'nt have to. |

Magic is the only Player in History that could play every Position.
He was the best all around player ever.
Remember game 6 against the Sixers , Jabbar was out .
Magic played Center . 42 pts 15 rebs and 7 assists.
Game over , Series over .
Magic was beast all around .
Chamberlain was the single most dominant player ever and the only center
ever to lead the league in assists .
Jordan the Most dynamic and creative.
Funny thing though if you needed to make a 3 with the game on the line
you give it to the White Boy . Bird. |

Bird was great, one of the best. If I had to start a team from scratch, he would be on it. But facts are facts. Magic was the better all around player. He never scored like Bird, but it is a team game. He rebounded better, had more assists and utilized his teamates better. He made all of them better players.
But nothing showed his greatness like game 6 of the NBA Finals of his rookie season. The NBA Finals pitted the Lakers against the Julius Erving-led Philadelphia 76ers, and the two teams split four close games to start the series. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sprained his ankle in Game 5 but still scored 40 points to give the Lakers a 108-103 win. During the flight home from Philly, coach Paul Westhead didn't know what to do about the Abdul-Jabbar situation. Magic told him, "don't worry coach, I'll play center." Westhead must of thought Magic was crazy. But when Abdul-Jabbar was unable to play in Game 6, Johnson stepped up to turn in one of the most remarkable performances in NBA Finals history. Still just a 20-year-old rookie, Johnson moved from guard to center and tallied 42 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists, single-handedly carrying the Lakers to a 123-107 victory and the NBA Championship. Johnson earned the first of three NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Awards.
Simply the best.......... Ever. |

| I think Magic. Not to take anything away from Bird, but Magic could do it all. Play any position, including filling in for Kareem! If he needed to pour in 30, he would do that. If he needed to give 15 assists he could do that. But no doubt both of them together saved the NBA. |
