There has been a sharp increase in attacks the last week, it looks like the extremists are preparing for an all out attack ala the Tet Offensive in Nam.

When Osama went to college in the west he was taught that the United States was militarily defeated at the Tet Offensive.
There is a problem with this view.
The U.S. demolished one entire branch of the Vietnamese military. North Vietnam considered it a failure. In fact, we were never defeated militarily the way the French were at Dien Bien Phu.
Military history is often very different from pop culture's sense of history.

| How dare you compare Iraq to Vietnam... there are absolutely no parallels whatsoever. Sean Hannity said so. |

When I read Osama and he was on his Tet Offensive rant I realized he thought we had been defeated there.
They are going to come out in mass to attack?
They are going to learn not to listen to American professors! The hard way. |

They may see a large assault from Muqtada al-Sadr's forces. They are finally going after him and his Al-Mahdi army. They should have done it long ago but they backed off.
It's no wonder Saddam killed his father. |

except that the government has admitted that both wars were started on false pretenses.

the difference was that back in 68-69 we had a gov't that actually responded to public sentiment.
Bush could give a shit about what 75% of America thinks. so no Tet. |

In my view, the U.S. was far more justified in going into Vietnam as compared to having NO justification, true pretense, or any logical reason to go into Iraq as to serve America's interests or those of anyone else (minus Israel perhaps). |

LBJ created the two "attacks" at the Gulf Of Tonkin to justify sending in troops.
Bush may have been wrong about the WMD, but he did not deliberately sit down and make up a lie the way Democrats do. |

How long has your head been in your ass for?
I don't think the democrats are innocent by any stretch... but if you don't think the current administration has "sat down and made up a lie" on several occasions can you please give me your bank account number so my Nigerian prince friend can use it to transfer his funds?
You'll get a percentage. |

A real Prince? Well, it must be real then!
I didn't even mention the USS Liberty and what really happened..... you know when LBJ had a U.S. Intel ship shot up so we could launch a nuclear strike against Cairo- (OPEN SOURCE THROUGH BBC)
Glad to know how bad that party is..... |
