I was in'88-92, before "don't ask don't tell" I was in a tank unit overseas and a guy in my platoon was almost openly gay. I mean the guy did everything but announce it...(of course they'd kick him out if he did), and he had a couple of his "friends" come over on the weekends. The guy was no problem, was great at his job, and didn't bother a fucking soul.
Did he get harrassed a little..hell yes, but nothing violent, and he was a good sport about it. Whatever..point is, dude served in the Desert Storm and was a good soldier. WGAS if they're gay? If ANYONE in the military does something inappropriate, the soldiers have ways of "correcting" the situation....gay or not gay. |

| The questions not whether to let them enlist (they're already in). The question is whether or not they should be allowed to live openly gay or not. Why not? Live and let live I always say. Listen, inappropriate behavior is not and should never be tolerated in the military; this goes for heterosexuals and could go for the homosexuals as well. It's high time the US step into the 21st century...and this comes from a 20 year and counting hetero-male military member. :ps: :usa: |

No, but maby I had a semi hardon from watching her run down the trench and the wood caused me to move slower and that is why I was hit, the same thing could happen to a queer if he was watching the men run away.

Gays and lesbians are already in the military. You want an attention to detail guy, you want the gays ... Tons of dykes outwork the men as it is and drink as hard with the guys. Nothing wrong with going to a lesbian bar and having the mutual interest in the ladies. Odds of meeting bi girls increases big time, and you also have women with an agenda to turn gay men straight. But you have to be really secure in going to places like that and having guys hit on you. Worst thing is you might get some guy freaking on you, but you just move away and he'll just go on to someone else. Most guys wouldn't be able to handle that and that's where you have to be really secure and keep your cool and remember where you are. But that's where the dykes also come in handy because they'll keep them away from you.
I'd rather have someone gay out in the open about it than a wacko closet case who's repressed. Never had problems with out of the closet gays I've worked with as much as ones who were hiding it from their wife and kids. If their wife and kids are 'out of town for the weekend' and they want you to watch a movie with them and start bringing out the booze and it's just the two of you on a Sat. night,and this is someone you kind of casually know, beware.. |

The fact there is a debate about this subject tells you the answer is no, open homosexuals are not beneficial to the armed forces, period.
The job of the military is to be the fist of a government and enforce the political will of the government.
Being tolerent of homosexuals does not fit that M.O. |

I'm not sure if you've ever served in the military Havoc (I haven't) but I'm guessing war (particularly when you're using ground troops and "in the trenches" like wars like Iraq) aren't like video games or movies. Correct me if I'm wrong? If somebody wants to protect my freedom, I don't care as long as they are competent because straight up, I'm not going over to Iraq (well they wouldn't draft me anyway). |
