| I have heard some people talking about this does anyone know of anything? To me it makes sense.. instead of fighting and competing with eachother, merge and go against testicle radio. |

Testicular radio is killing itself. It's a non-issue at this point.
The worst thing that can happen is for XM and Sirius to merge. Whatever would spawn from that would probably end up looking just like FM, only then we'd be paying for it up until the time we cancelled. |

| XM can just rot as far as I'm concerned... maybe sell it to a beaner market, Spanish-language chatter... tortilla price reports, stuff like that... XM fucked themselves over... |

They could merge. But, they would face antitrust scrutiny from federal regulators. Chances are, the combo would pass muster.
Here's why: Unlike satellite-video companies EchoStar (DISH ) and DirecTV, whose merger proposal was rejected back in 2002 because it would have created a monopoly in rural areas, XM and Sirius aren't profitable. They could argue that competition puts a financial strain on their business. Moreover, they don't control a large chunk of the consumer market anywhere. |

| No, because it still wouldn't get rid of a competitor. When the two companies were initally given their SDARS licenses from the FCC, part of the deal was that if the two companies were to merge, they would have to give up one of the SDARS licenses. In theory Sirius could sweep in and buy XM, but they would have to bring in a third party to buy the XM SDARS license (that is if the FCC would let them sell it). So more than likely it would be sold to someone like Clear Channel, CBS Radio, or even someone like NewsCorp or Time Warner. |

| Mel Karmazan expressed interest in buying out XM but I think it was a hypothetical question. |

| I hope they dont.. I would love to see Sirius kill off XM, with Howard being one of the main reasons.. |

| Let's hope they merge so Sirius will finally have a punk station. |

So if they merge who will survive, Sirius or XM?
Your all talking like it's gonna only be Sirius?
From what I hear XM says they're getting bigger.
I don't think either will make until all new cars come
out with the satellite radio built in
at the factory/
Sirius or XM?

That would be the worst thing that could happen. Without competition who knows what the subscription fee would be.
It sure wouldn't be 12 bucks a month. |

| I absolutely love the competition aspect of it. You don't really see complete entities competing anymore. Even in Howard's last couple of years at KROK he hardly said anything about his competition. |

| this is a horrible idea, who do you think is going to have to pay for big gay oprah, sirisu subscribers |

| this has been romered since they both came out. Back then I said i'd never pay for radio. But times have changed. But they will not merge. That's just stupid. It would kill both companies. |
