I went out to my truck yesterday to make a quick errand. I was surprised when I turned it on that radio disney was coming out of the speakers. The sportster unit was inside my house hooked up to the boombox, while my son was listening to it.

I didn't know the boom box used an fm frequency just as my truck does. I drove quite awhile before it faded out, at least a couple hundred yards.

So if you have an fm radio and the sportster with a boom box, you're all set. :)

Makes it much easier for me, since I only have one window with a decent location for the antenna.

Don't even need the boombox. The transmitter is in the radio.

its the FM Modulator. You can tune you radio from 88.1 to 88.9. You can also simply turn it off too

I enjoy it myself!

The FM modulator is a function of the Sportster, just because you plug it into the boombox doesn't automatically turn it off.

I was able to do this with my Visor in my apartment...until I found out my roommate was poaching the signal and made the lazy bastard pony up come cash to get his own or co-pay the subscription price. ;)

I have the starmate-r, last month we drove from upstate NY to the Ocean city, MD area, was my wife & daughter and friends of ours and thir 2 kids, they drove their own vehicle and tuned the radio to 87.9 (frequency I use) and was able to get the signal from my receiver the whole way there.

All units do this- i leave my sportster on all day- and i use a lil portable radio on 90.5 for my bathroom and shower time

Do I turn my sportster on in my car? Do I have to have the unit in my boombox to play it in my house on my radios?

I recently went to a park with my kids, while they ran off and rode the rides, I relaxed in my lawnchair near my car, book in one hand, drink in the other, buds in my ears connected to my walkman and set on 88.1 FM and I was able to listen all day. Car didn't have to be on since the unit runs off the battery and obviously uses very little juice... nine hours later... battery was fine.

You can go further up in frequency I have mine set to 92.9 , just use the dial to go up and down all the way up and down the FM dial, just make sure you don't pick a signal that overlaps onto a local signal.

Same here, i washed my car one day with the receiver inside and Sirus was playing in the car without the receiver. It blew my mind at first, i get good reception outside on the patio also with a regular radio from my Sportster Replay, love the Plug & Play.
