Today, I get in the car and turn on my Starmate. Scroll for a few seconds says "Howard 100" and then immediately goes to "Antenna not detected"

Everything is plugged in. In fact disconnected and reconnected things.

When I turn it off and then back on it does the same thing.

Help....suggestions... or do i call Customer Service? :(

I have a Starmate receiver and after about a week of having it, I had worsening connection troubles. I had to always play with the wires to keep a connection. I called Radio Shack where I bought it and explained the problem. I was told sometimes the receivers just short out. I had my receipt and was able to exchange the defective unit for a new one. That was probably late May and I've had no problems since. I don't know if you have your receipt or how old your receiver is, but you may want to try for an exchange. I don't know of that helps.

If that is the case I might be screwed because it is from January. It was a second radio so I am okay for now.

Thanks

Well figured it out. Very shitty quality for the car antenna. The wire broke off. Looked at the wire on my other car antenna and it is already stressed. It will probably break in the next month.

Thanks Sirius.... looks like you'll get another $25 each for both antennas. I called Customer Service today about my warranties. Radios are good for one year but the woman on the phone told me that the antenna warranty was recently change to 30 days. Way to back it up Sirius.

Just venting. The extra $25 per antenna is worth the programming BUT I have only had each for 8 months. I looked online and they have changed the design but what about the people that bought the shitty design before?

Excuse me....$30.00 but free shipping....nice!

That sucks, who would have thought maintaining these radios was going to be so expensive?

I'm going on my 3rd antenna since January.

I see they came out with one that is called "monster antenna". It is around $60.00 but they have modified the wire attachment to the antenna.

Monty, your break in the same spot?

Last night I took my antenna that was about to break and put shrink tubing on it along with a ton of electrical tape. Looking on Ebay for replacements now.

I had the same problem TWICE, after the second one went to shit, I bought the bigger home antenna, not the little fold up one. I had it mounted in the back of my suv and havnt had a problem in 5 months..just looks a little odd if you can spot this big ass antenna mounted INSIDE my ride but oh well it finally works

They can be fixed but it is a little tricky.

I have the same problem and mine comes from the connector to the dock. Crap!
