There are always areas where the signal is lost and that hideous "acquiring signal" appears, but in the last week, the signal has been brutal! It cuts out every few seconds at times and you go long stretches where you just cannot pick up a signal.
Anyone else having this happen this week? |

My recievers signal has been shit for months, I even have a terk power ant. ( thanks to Doctor Ivan - YOU RULE DUDE!!!! ) and it helped my signal peg a consistant 5 bars but it don't matter if the signals not being recieved worth a fuck - they need to get more repeaters and a couple more sats. up to have better coverage, how do they expect the new walkman type units to pick up properly if they don't do so?
I depend on the internet stream now to hear the show, I'm glad they finally got the stream together - now if they would only get the repeaters and more sats. up all would be great.

There are not enough repeaters, especially in Canada.
As you can see in the US, there are large areas with no repeaters as well.
(I live 3000 feet from the nearest repeater)
In late 2008, Sirius plans to launch their new 20KW satellite (about ten times more power than the present Loral FS1300 sats) which should improve things for the new portables and hopefully for people like you up in Canada. |

Adam, do you have an image that shows the northeast as more than just a squished jumble? I'm curious as to where the repeaters in New England are, but it's hard to tell with the image you put up.
My signal has always been spotty at best, so I'm sure I'm not very close to one. |

I need to check how old this mapping is, but I hope this helps: |

My signal has been crap lately. I'd never had a problem at home until the last couple weeks. Every time I change channels it's aquireing signal time.
To find out the location of repeaters near you, go to dogstarradio.com. |

| I noticed the signal is usually fine in my car, but when I use my dock at my home it turns to crap at certain times of the day. I always figured that was due to satellite placement, looks like it's lack of terestrial repeaters though |

| I actually drove up into northern Quebec during the winter and never lost the signal. I was amazed. But now, it's cutting out a lot. And I'm much closer to the U.S. border than Northern Quebec. |

I am in the exact same Boat. The reception in my Car is great, But at home I lose signal at like 12 Pm and it doesnt come back till like 4 Pm. I have the antenna up on my roof facing the right direction and all. And when I check Signal Strength it shows decent strength. But no reception. |

| I had the same problem with mine. I bought a new "monster" antenna that cost more than my reciever and its been perfect ever since. |

My signal has gotten bad in the last few months too. (Location: Dutchess County, New York).
Hey Adam, where did you get that map from? |

Sirius has the worst signal ever
What i don't understand is you can get a phone signal almost everwhere but sirius you barely get anywhere |

| Mine comes in fine at home, but when I mount it in my truck, it starts out o.k., but sometimes after travelling from RI towards MA, it gets a hissing background noise and the signal weakens. It sucks. |

Have you checked for any "kinks" in your antenna? That will usually cause your signal to cut out...I was having similar issues, bought a new antenna, problem solved. |

| You guys are not alone. I've renamed my home unit "Acquiring Signal." Most everybody else I've talked to in the Baltimore-Washington area are saying the same thing. And yes, I know the routine about antenna placement, trees, window screens and everything else. Believe me I've been down that road. I used to have a great placement....perfect signal and reception...and then over the past couple of months something has radically changed. And I'm not investing another goddamn dime in hardware until Sirius can provide more reliable signals to home. |

I have no complaint about the car signal. It's seems great no matter where I go. It's the home signal that keeps frustrating me. Maybe I should consider a giant roof antenna. |

| Same issues here. I'm in Napa CA. When I'm in the car, signals great. In the house it's shit. I have to have the antena outside otherwise it won't work. |

| It's like the crazy aunt in the attic...everbody knows she's a problem but nobody dare talk about her. The persistent home reception problems would scare away new subscribers don't you think? |
