In light of the discussion on the wrap up show today, the news department should really put together an objective story (mabey even a special) about racial issues on the stern show. A story like this should examine all eras of the show, not just recent events involving sal. here are some clips that might be useful to someone putting something like this together.
Dan Carver talks to the retards
Hearing Daniel preach to the retards and win them over ultimantley shows both the simplicity of this type of rhetoric as well as those who subscribe to it.

"balanced discussion" on Rodney King
After the second Rodney King verdict, one of the jurors calls into the show and sparks a heated discussion between Howard and Robin. Howard tells Robin numerous times to butt out and but she is persistent.

black woman calls in
After a discussion about a Farakahn rally (which Howard is disgusted with) a black woman with a (Jamaican?) accent calls in to disagree. This call makes Sal's comment about Andreas' baby sound like a line from MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech!

In my opinion while it is funny to goof on sal for a bit, when you consider clips like those above, the preachy attitude from everyone on the wrapup show today was a bit much.
In paticular the wrap about how racial jokes and slurs are ok as long as they are not "intended to disempower that group of people" . while i agree with that reasoning, I know that the Howard Stern show has never had that much of a conscience.
yes, there are some instances where the joke has been on the racists rather than the race, like the daniel carver call above or when a guess the jew contestant reveals his secretly held theories about why jewish people are bussiness savy. however sometimes the racist is not the butt of the joke. |

how could we? he has talked about everyone. i dont have a problem with that kind of humor but lets not forget what show we're listening to. |
