The power cord connection in my Starmate deteriated through the week. At first when ever my car hit a bump the radio would cycle off and on, then it was difficult to turn on, and now its just plain dead. Someone posted about similar issues a few months back and others indicated they had the same problem.
Any advice on how I should proceed? I have had it for 8 months so I hope its under warranty (When I moved I threw out all the paperwork). Should I call Sirius direct or go back to Best Buy? |

Had the same issue with mine, after four months, my entire connection ended up breaking off
and falling into the unit itself. :(
bought it at a Radio Shack and just brought the unit back, they replaced it no problems, never even asked for a reciept.
new one has been ok(knock on wood)
good luck |

If you send it back to Sirius, it will take quite awhile to get it back, I would try Best Buy first, maybe they can help you out. If Best Buy can't help you out, I would buy a new one, send the old one to Sirius and then put that one on Ebay when they return it to you. I had to send my S50 back to Sirius, the whole prosess took about 6 weeks. |

I think Sirius is having problems getting the Starmate Replay to pass the FCC regulations.

FCC May Be Scrutinizing the New StarMate
It appears that the FCC may be scrutinizing the newly granted re-certification for the StarMate radios. It's hard to make out exactly what is happening, but the email below was issued exactly one month after the after the radio was re-certified. The FCC appears to be asking for the latest documentation and they indicate that there will be furhter processing. Sirius may not be out of the woods yet with the StarMate certifications as Sirius' management has indicated.
It may be nothing. It may be a sign of things to come. It doesn't appear to me that WNC used the proper test procedure. The FCC seemed to be clear. If a leaky coax is used for the transmission of the FM signal, in situ testing is required for three representative vehicles: small, median, and large. The test report does not indicate that this testing took place. We shall see.

My starmate would drop signal & eventually stopped working. I called SIRIUS three weeks ago & they said they would call me in about four weeks because they didn't have a new one to send me. I still haven't heard from them.
I couldn't go without Stern Show for 4 weeks so I bought a new unit from Radio Shack & a new subscription at a reduced price.
I can understand about the delay in getting a new Starmate but thought it was bullshit making me pay for another script after I bought a new one on my own.
SIRIUS needs to get their shit together and take care of their customers. |

I just called the SIRIUS Warrenty Department 866-257-7726 & informed them it has been a month since my Starmate Replay stopped working. The customer service representive SIRIUS would not give any dates on when they would replace my broken.
A month ago they said it would be two weeks & now after 4 weeks they still don't know. This company has some very serious problems. |

They are not allowed to ship the Starmate Replay. It is not FCC compliant. |

| I listen to teh starmate mostly at home, but I also have the car kit, and the cigarette lighter thing must have blown a fuse and stopped working. I just ordered a new one for $13.99 and it should work. The receiver works fine on my home kit and I haven't had any problems. |

I had the starmate and had the same problem.
I went to Circuit City and bought a new starmate replay. Then called Sirius, told them my old one was broke and that Circuit City swapped them for me and they activated the new one and de activated my old one. I then took the old one and the non working power cord and put it back in the box and returned it to Circuit City. When they asked why I was returning it I told them the unit would not activate. I told them I was on the phone with Sirius and Sirius told me they would send me one that was already activated for the same price I paid from Circuit City so I did not need it. They were happy to take it back and give me a refund.
Worked like a charm...Good Luck
P.S My friend was a manager at Circuit City, and he told me to do this, thats how I got the idea. |

| I've got 4 starmates, I try to stay 1 ahead. I drive 4 different vehicles at work so I'm always switching and then putting them in my personal truck and then taking them out to put in the blaster for the work site. I've dropped 2 already and broke the glass display on the front, as far as I know clumsiness isn't part of the warrtanty so I always keep 1 ahead. |

I hate to say that your problem is an isolated one, but it's not. I have the Sportster Replay, and am dealing with similar problems. SIRIUS is an excellent service, but they seem to have some serious equipment problems (no pun intended).
I took my unit back to Best Buy, and was told to contact SIRIUS (as it was just past the store's warranty period). Apparently a lot of units are failing for some reason... Best Buy would re-install the replacement equipment free of charge, but the equipment would have to come from SIRIUS.
I made a claim for replacement nearly 8 weeks ago, and they still haven't been able to send me another one. On the positive side, they offered to "upgrade" my equipment to the SPORTSTER 4 for the inconvenience (and extend my subscription for the lost time).
Anyhow, in my case it's still an ongoing process. They seem sincere in getting me fixed up and happy, so I have no problem with the Customer service department, but the fact that they don't have the spare equipment is still a big pain. |
